These devices are rugged, that's for certain. I accidentally dropped 1 from a swing stage at 5 stories onto a wooden deck and it suffered a tiny bruise on the screw side cap. It worked immediately after that incident. With that mentioned, I advocate them extremely. I primarily use them for data capture and transfer to and from residence to operate desktop systems & laptops. Refer to cons. I lost data from two of these devices in just more than a year so regularly copy your information to safe areas. I've no idea why, but both fried (literally heated up) when seated into a standard USB port on various systems. See other thoughts. Corsair was quite gracious and replaced both of them, no inquiries asked.

Large capacity, great price, tough and rugged... Sustained transfer rate is "ok" [one substantial file] but when doing a number of smaller files it truly comes to a halt. So I'd surely say this isn't the fastest drive out there. I use this drive to hold essential applications, it's specifically helpful when doing mobile personal computer work. A lot of instances it's not required to bust out the laptop or carry a lot of CDs/DVDs. Or when having to backup files/programs. Once again it's surely not a speed demon...

Comes with only the windows version of truecrypt, even though it's accessible for Mac and Linux. Took forever to encrypt. Probably no superior or worse than a regular USB key, although. Fun fact: US citizens have a fifth amendment proper not to reveal their passwords. At the time of this writing, the encryption employed is unbreakable.

Great drive, totally indestructible, rapidly as most, actually a fantastic drive all about. The thin inner USB tends to make it extremely east to plug into tight spaces. NONE! You pay much more for the protective outer situation, but as soon as you own 1 you will not regret paying that extra cash, it just feels like excellent.

CapacitySurvivabilityCost SLOWErratic overall performance I waited a while to post comments simply because individuals were pretty divided more than this drive. I don't consider it's as slow as some critiques indicate, but it definitely is a lot slower (read & write) than my 4GB Cruzer. One more strange factor is that when saving Word files, I would get an error that the file couldn't be saved ("File Not Located"). I would have to do file-> save as... and it would then save. This happened repeatedly, on distinct computers, and on numerous Word files. I lastly gave up on this drive mainly because I opened a Word file on the drive, added text to it, and attempted to save. I got the similar "file not found" message, but rather of letting me do file->save as, Word crashed and I lost the file. Not just the stuff I added, but the whole darn file disappeared off the drive. This was a 28 page document that I spent about ten hours producing. Gone. I attempted undertaking all sorts of file recovery strategies, but they didn't work. I'm going back to my 4GB Sandisk Cruzer.

It's big. It's sturdy as hell. You can attach it to your keychain (or whatever) from either side, so you have the alternative of having it removable from the cover or getting the cover removed with the drive nonetheless attached, which is good. It also came with a short USB extension cord, which comes in really handy as you can imagine. I'm getting a write speed typical of only 1.05MB/s (in Windows Vista) (yes USB two. mode), which I am quite disappointed with. I am accustomed to possessing write speeds in the neighborhood of 6MB/s and get this on my 2GB drives. Perhaps read/write speed is a known sacrifice with bigger drive designs, but if so, I was not conscious of it.

Quite sturdy, weather proof, robust, fashionable and massive. SLOW. Corsair ought to be embarrassed by the transfer speeds on this item. For the value, Anything else is a greater selection. At first I believed the upload rate was a correctable problem, but immediately after reading Corsair's internet site, I understand that I was merely jipped. 3MB/s? Are you really serious? USB 1. technologies ought to be impossible to discover, let alone applied in a "flagship" model thumb drive like this. I've been a loyal customer of Corsair for years, and this device truly surprises me. I was ripped off. Now that I can no longer count on the basic intelligence and morality of Corsair, I will generally be looking to an alternative brand from now on.

Bought the four gig version of this drive, and was so impressed by the top quality of it, when I required yet another 1 to retailer a lot more information, I purchased this 16 gig. Works great!! none In this day and age, it's good to discover something that's produced to be sturdy. Not the cheap throw away stuff you'd locate at Walmart.

Particularly rugged drive, 16gb of storage, o-ring seal, Nice conversation piece when in classes, and it stand up to lots of use. It is substantially substantially slower than I believed it was going to be. I also have to lightly lubricate the o-ring from time to time as is proper with any o-ring like that, not as well big of a deal. Most significant concern though, I Still haven't gotten my rebate back! I paid ๛ for this thing and it had a ษ mir with it. I sent it in 7 days following buy and have yet to hear from Any person! I contacted newegg, they sent me to corsair, who after talking to them sent me back to newegg. I CAN GET NO Support FROM Anyone! I was unable to return it as I had to send in the upc code and have been stuck with this drive given that I got it! I WILL NOT Acquire CORSAIR Once again! NOR WOULD I Advocate THIS TO Anybody! I am extremely frustrated by this complete issue and will take my enterprise a person other than Corsair from now on. Possibly elseware from Newegg as effectively, they have not helped either. I seriously do like the drive, the o-ring can get irritating as it gets harder to tighten with no a touch of silicon lubricant, and it begins to ruin the o-ring. The drive is slow, but I have learned to deal with it for now. I have rated this as low as I have due to the fact I bought this under the understanding it would be โ after the mir. I under no circumstances received it and keep acquiring the run around whenever I make contact with either party involved. This thing ended up becoming a ๛ aluminum shell! The expense it ended up getting was not what was advertised, and no a single appears to want to aid remedy the circumstance so I AM Carried out WITH CORSAIR Products, AND I AM Accomplished RECOMMENDING THEM TO MY Clients! I hope any individual who does end up with this product has superior luck than I did. I also apologize if this comes off as also harsh, I am incredibly frustrated about this to this day!

Excellent capacity, very challenging None that affected me I haven't seriously run into difficulties of slowness, but this factor is difficult as all get-out. I've kept it in my pocket as my keychain for about six months and it nevertheless works like new. Numerous drops, bumps, etc that would have ended the helpful life of another drive, this a single continues to function. I haven't given it any liquid tests but I am not afraid of receiving it wet. The threaded seal seems extremely precise.

If I had to wait an hour on any jump drive.. there is a major problem.. return it...

Built like a tank--lite as a feather.I'm sure this small Glash drive is going to save me several headaches in the future. It's simple to use, and if it goes by means of the wash, or gets dropped no challenge. It is what it is--a rugged small storage unit! Price tag. The utility of this small drive is what makes it so desireable to me. I can take films or something else up to 16 Gb in size any location I go. There's a small Blue light that flashes when the drive is accessed. It's idiot proof.

The drive works fine and has been dependable. The aluminium enclosure fell apart right after 9 months. The end cap is only glued on and it just fell off. I nearly lost the drive in the street! The most extreme issue I've accomplished with this was hang it on a keychain. There was no tension or trauma involved in this breakage, the issue just gave up! I feel the enclosure is largely for show. NOT seriously intended to manage rough remedy!I'm gluing and taping the issue back with each other.

Casing is built like a tank The crucial portion (the flash drive element) isn't. I purchased this item just before the Fall 2009 school semester. I utilised it for saving school documents a few times a week and place a few backup files on it for that semester, and employed it a couple of instances immediately after the semester to backup files. Its been in a drawer for the last month, pulled it out currently... and its dead. Won't light up, won't show up on any computer system (tried it on 6 distinct computers)... secure to say its dead in much less than a year. Hasn't even been beat up that badly. Wish I would have purchased that 16g drive with the rubber casing for half the value at the time... I figured this one particular would final longer.

Really cool. I lost a lot of flah drives ahead of, but I consider it's very impossible to lose this one. Slow.....Also slow.....It works at around ten-15mb/s to huge file, but when it come to smaller file, that would drop to 3mb/s or even lower than 500kb/s. I attempted to use it to backup my files in workplace(file size around 8GB in total) and it took me almost an hour to finish the job. 16G is absolutely useless if you care about time. I'm a small bit regret to purchase this flash drive, possibly a mobile difficult drive would be a better choice.

... ... Update:I've had this drive for about 8 months now, and it's still performing well. The smaller sized rubber ring got as well loose, and kept falling off, so I took them both off. And then the labels on the outside started peeling off, so I took them off as properly. So now the whole factor is just pure silver. It looks pretty sweet, essentially. Only downside is I've gotta use the keyring notch for leverage to open it instead of the rubber ring.I had the drive plugged into the back of a laptop yesterday, and I lifted the front up to read something on the bottom of the laptop. The drive got bent back at the plug, it bent but didn't break. I plugged it into my house computer and got every thing backed up again 1st, and then bent it back into location, hoping it wouldn't snap. It bent back fine, and nonetheless functions fantastic. (so far) I'll update once more if it fails.Even right after all of this, I still recommend this drive. I'll obtain a new one of the similar model if this one fails.

This factor is a beast. I function as a counselor and an IT staff at a day camp with 5-16 year old kids, so I knew I'd will need some thing hard to withstand the continuous abuse of hordes of careless young children. I purchased this child since of its water- and influence-resistant design, and man, I was *not* disappointed. I got thrown in the lake twice with this point my pocket and it nonetheless worked perfectly; not a drop of water ever got inside. But here's the ideal component: I (very, really foolishly) plugged my Survivor into the front USB port of a personal computer one of my children was operating on. A different counselor had hooked up an external DVD burner so the kids could burn their video, but he (again, very foolishly) placed the drive on the edge of the desk subsequent to the mouse and keyboard. Sure adequate, one of the youngsters got crazy and knocked the DVD drive off the desk and it NAILED my flash drive on the way down. (Continued in Other thoughts) Read speed is decent, but write speed is TERRIBLE. Don't bother trying to install any PortableApps or VMs directly onto this thing. Just install them to a nearby difficult drive and then copy 'em to your flash drive. It'll be a LOT more rapidly. If this point weren't so ridiculously rugged and huge, I'd in all probability give it about three stars. (Continued from Pros) Now this DVD drive was really heavy, and it from fell about three and a half feet above exactly where the flash drive was plugged in, so I was certain my Survivor was toast. Considerably to my surprise, it survived the impact beautifully. It was nevertheless plugged in, but looked like it was bent quite badly. I pulled it out and repositioned the USB plug with my thumb and it was excellent as new. Plugged it back in and it was like nothing had ever occurred. I couldn't believe it. Nevertheless functions like a champ five months later. When they named this issue "Survivor", they had been not kidding. I extremely advocate this to everyone who requirements a bomb-proof flash drive for whatever purpose. Seriously, you won't regret it.

The unit looks like it will take punishment and nonetheless operate and that's very good. I plan to use it for longer term storage and not moving files on and off it frequently. Finding a บ rebate back. The unit is particularly slow. It has taken me two hours to move 15 GB worth of files onto the drive. The other USB drives that I purchased ྰ GB) took minutes not hours.
