Truly strong, 16gigs is plenty of storage for storing something I'll ever want to carry around on a typical basis. TrueCrypt is rather a bit of enjoyable to mess around with. None at all. It's large enough so I shouldn't forget it in my pants and have it washed, but its waterproof to 200m so that's not a difficulty anyways. Plus you'd most likely hear it banging about in the dryer...

It usually works! I have carried it on my key chain for more than a year and it hasn't had a single challenge. I even take it on my motorcycle exactly where it is vibrating and bouncing about on the steering column. Most folks dont know what it is when the see it on my key chain but when I unscrew it and pull it out it looks so cool. If you want to have peace of mind that you can carry around your vital data and it won't be damaged or lost this is the excellent drive. Its bulky but i've gotten utilized to it. One of the little rubber sleeves on the outside had disappeared but I don't consider it has effected the impact resistance.

SUPER UNBREAKABLE CASE, SUPER STURDY. Standard USB2. speed.Impossible to lose, break or flood this drive. It went overboard with me on a kayaking trip and was completely submerged for 30 minutes and was bone dry inside. The little rubber cosmetic rings tend to slip off. This wasn't a difficulty as I just applied a drop of superglue to each and every and they've stayed put for months now. Acquire THIS. I've been through 100's of usb drives and this 1 is the ideal. The case is entirely me-proof, which means i can\'t break it, I can not loose it. Super bada$$.

THis is my second unit, very first 1 I got a 4gb survivor, paid much more than a hundred, supposesly a high constructed unit was worth the price. then I got my second unit, 16gb which died following three weeks soon after Left it plugged more than the weekend on my Dell rack server. Unrealiable, truly expensive for what you get, I paid premium cost and presently don't have anything decent to move 8 gig data, and have to acquire one thing temporarly to do my job, prior to manufacturer replaces it, hopefully won't take weeks. Will by no means acquire a usb flash drive from corsair.Get a couple of affordable 16 gb usb flash drives for very same price tag, in case 1 of those failed.

It has been almost a year given that I bouth this drive and I just got done WASHING AND DRYING this factor with my clothes..... accidentally. When I pulled it out of the dryer, I dropped it mainly because it was so hot! I was just sure that all my data, as nicely as the funds spent, had been laid to waste. Alas! IT Nevertheless WORKS! uhhhmm........ it doesn't make espresso? *shrugs* If getting a flash drive (as properly as the information on it) is critical to you and you keep your flash drive mobile like I do (carried around in pockets, laptop case, etc.), it's probably in your greatest interest to get this Corsair Survivor. This is the only flash drive I've ever owned and if/when I make a decision I want extra ones, it'll be the Corsair Survivor that I will invest in (most most likely by way of newegg :P ).

When it comes to flash drives and toughness, there is this factor and then there is almost everything else. It`s been stepped on, dropped, scratched, run over by a automobile (a stupid experiment I know but a 8-yr old in me had to try) and nevertheless right after much more than a year it functions as the day I bought it.If you want a flash drive with great capacity and that is difficult as a tank but with out the 50 .cal, then this factor is for you.I have a couple of custom and high finish flash drives, such as three Iron Important 4gb drives, and besides them this thing is one particular of the greatest ones that I have owned, and think me I had my share of them. The only downside is the writing speed, even though the reading speed is extremely great. But folks who acquire this thing typically don`t care if it`s ten or 20 Mb/sec, since they acquire these varieties of drives for their toughness and this is exactly where they outperform virtually anything. Good price tag and shipping as usually.

Nice aluminum case, looks fairly, durable enclosure when sealed. Very slow transfer speeds. I'm finding much less than USB 1. Speeds on a USB two. system where my other USB devices don't have problems. Tech support is unhelpful, they suggest formatting my card on an windows XP system (I don't have 1 close to me, only Vista and Linux). They suggest employing a Chinese language only troubleshooting utility to test the card but it crashes. There's a lot of RMA requests for this line of merchandise on their web site. I wish this worked out of the package. I like the aluminum enclosure with rubber seals but the memory card itself is a dud. I'll be returning this product and picking one up from a different vendor.

Runs natively on WinXP and Linux (Kernel 2.6.23.12), it worked on Win98 with a generic USB two. driver I already had. Read and write speeds are what you'd expect from the cost. Its really as solid as they say: 3ǚ" of aluminum on either end and a heavy gague knurled sheet aluminum sheeth. It'd take a deliberate blow from a sledgehammer to break the thing when it's closed. I take it around a chemical plant with no troubles. It's about 5x the size of the cheaper thumb drive I got my dad. Security comes from winXP/Vista-only softwear that you have to deliberatly set up and run. The rubber rings- of small function- slide proper off, and all the lables peeled off in the 1st week. They could axe the low cost dog tag. It names itself "Corsair" when you plug it in.

-Solid performance-Durable-No comparison to other items (none like it).-Decent read/writes, average.-Water-resistant to 200m-No "invasive" software program onboard (see U3 of Sandisk) -Low cost, gimmicky dogtag and chain-Corsair Label peels off right after three months-Shock seal collar came loose after 1 month-Not ReadyBoost or fast at reads/writes compared to others-Wider than most drives This drive has been my workhorse for over 6 months. I've ALL the Mac OS X updates for 10.five on it and still space for Windows updates. I would have given it a 5 of 5 if Corsair would have chosen a wire/fabric loop/lanyard than the clever-but affordable dogtag pullchain gimmick. The "shock" collar about the USB sleeve works its way off, so dab some silicone in there and slide it back-done.It isn't light compared to other USB drives, so you'll know it is in your pants ;)Consists of a short USB extension because it is thicker to clear nearby ports

Looks and feels as solid as advertised. Lasted four days ahead of the drive somehow became write-protected and cannot be reformatted. 4 days is NOT as solid as advertised.Went to Corsair's website and located that this appears to be a not uncommon challenge. On the other hand, other people have gotten RMA'd and appear to have the issue fixed, so let's just chalk it up to unreliability of certain drives. If you acquire one, hope you don't get the twitchy 1.

Totally no issues with this device. The device is hefty and fits on my keychain perfectly. The device closes up tight (though I have not tested it under water) None so far. This might be too massive for some, but that is specifically why I bought it! I never forget it at the computer lab at my University.

I purchased this item to transfer utilities music and recorded Television programming from Vista environment to XP and Linus environments. I have in stable UMPCs (EEE PC 900 20 Gb and CloudBook), HP Pavilion 3400 laptop and two HP Pavilion Media Center PC (M8000N and an M7030N). I trouble shoot several Window OS's. I required space for system and repair utilities as well as a secure repository for music and Television programming (love "Eureka" and "Dead Like Me"). My Survivor works as advertised, it offers a secure storage medium for all my tools and stuff. I have a couple 8Gb A-Information units. These are just storage tools, however, the Survivoris is a sweetheart. My key concern is the validity/security of its stored information. My Survivor keeps my stuff secure. I take it whenever I have a PC service residence call. The 32 Gb model has fallen within my sweet spot as has the Voyager What are its cons? Hmmmmm. When transferring music selected playlists and Tv programs to and from my Survivor I have not noticed any significant time lags. Its rugged construction, combined with the reality that I still have its cap are extra pluses. The 16 Gb Survivor is a classic. I am thinking of further purchases for gift giving ƘGb model ;).

The metal shell is very nice. I like the industrial appear of the drive. Very first off, the drive's little black rubber bands on the exterior came off the drive within a day. If you get, put super glue on the bands to keep them on the drive, if you like them. Under two months of using this drive, if failed on me. I work with computers and lastly got all of my utilities onto the drive to have it die and shed all of them. I am incredibly un-satisfied with this product and would urge everyone not to buy this.

Rugged, looks good, decent read speeds. Comes with a chain, a extension, and a small dog tag. Slow. Very Incredibly Incredibly slow. The read speeds are absolutely nothing to write dwelling about but not horrible. Nevertheless, the write speeds are beyond abismal. I have formated, I have tried numerous computers, multiple operating and file systems, and it is nonetheless horrible. For an example. I just copied a 626.9 mb file over to the drive. It took 38 minutes. What is the point of this a lot storage if you can't use it in a reasonable amount of time? Rugged, just too slow to use.

It is absolutely solid. I feel I could chuck at somebody and knock them cold. Transfer speeds are really very good as well. It is pricey compared to comparable capacity drives. But you're receiving what you pay for in construction supplies, clearly. Injection molded plastic vs. solid aluminum.

Looks rugged. Cool blue light. Stopped working immediately after only 1 month. What can I think of a drive that's advertised being rugged, and stops working after only 1 month with standard usage? Very disappointed. Manufacturer Response:Unfortunately, semiconductors are not as rugged as the aluminum housing and can fail. We'll happily replace this drive for you if you like .External Link(s): Corsair RMA Link|

Excellent capacity, rugged and durable, awesome Warrenty!!! As an IT Tech, I use my flash drive everyday all day lengthy. I can not tell you how several times I have smacked it on desks and such though climbing under desks and behind printers. This is the very best flash drive I have ever owned. This is not meant to be connected to your key chain and put in your pocket. It is built to manage abuse...thus the bulky sturdy build. I have my attached to my neck lanyard that has my work ID on. Can't smash it with a hammer although sealed in the container. lol

16 GB worth of storage on a tube. In contrast to some of the other mass-storage flash drives, this 1 transports smaller files just as rapidly as the huge ones. It also makes excellent for data transfer and temp. storage. The cost, possibly? The aluminum makes it feel quite sturdy and secure to carry. I'm not worried of destroying the device by carrying it around in my pocket.
