CORSAIR Survivor 8GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive
Comment:
It actually is amazingly durable. Information transfer is pretty good as properly. It has a great design. The USB cable that it comes with is nice to have not to harm the drive itself when taking it "in and out" of computers when required to. Information speeds could always be quicker. But you're not obtaining this for information speeds, right? Extremely pleased with it. This'll be the last flash drive I'll will need for very a extended time

Case appears very tough. Lasted about ten minutes. Transferred about 5GB of different files, then went to move them to a second Computer and received the write-protect error. Does not respond to any of the low-level formatting programs advised in several forums. Would not buy a flash drive from Corsair yet again at this point. This is completely unacceptable.

Echoing the numerous positive comments here, I just say it is effectively construct. So well constructed in truth, that when I 'popped' it open it popped. I reside a about 6500 feet above sea level in Colorado Springs. It isn't uncommon to see potato chip bags that look like balloons in the shops, and air tight packaging frequently does expand. However, this is the very first time I've opened a USB device and heard it pop. I'd be fully confident to take it anywhere. As a pocket device, you could complain about the size as it is really massive, but I'm not about to locate that a challenge. The 'wheels' on every finish make it quite most likely to roll a long way if you drop it on a sloped driveway, don't drop it on the streets of San Francisco!

Waterproof Metal Shell - Really sturdy. Transfer Speeds are great. 8GB or Storage. These are just picky on my element. TrueCrypt was nowhere to be discovered. I went to the Corsair internet site and located a link to it. It is an open supply encryption ap. Cost-free to all. So no true plus - I figured it software encryption and was just hoping it had actual hardware encryption on top of the Situation. But it open source and not even bundled - I really like open source but integrate it. Don't advertise it as portion of the item and not even include it. The other knock - I am not positive how effectively the actual connector piece will hold up. Plastic inserted into the metal shell so possibly not a lot more sturdy then avg - the average USB drive tends to break correct there in my encounter. General it is good. Definitely not little. But it is a sturdy case and what I was looking for - durable. I would obtain it again, but it is pricey for "just" an 8 GB drive.

This drive is by far the greatest flash drive I've ever owned!Up to 35mb/s read and 30mb/s write speeds is fantastic for transferring five and 6 GB .iso files. As for durability, I'm not a large destroyer of my stuff, but I know that this drive fell out of my pocket going 15mph on a bike and it barely got a scratch. None whatsoever For individuals saying this drive is slow, if you format it correctly, NTFS as opposed to FAT32, you unlock the blistering speeds this point is capable of.btw, nothing is going to be rapid at transferring loads of tiny small files... it's not the drive's fault.

it feels really very properly designed. like a precision automotive element, especially regarding the threading for the lid/casing.seems to be substantially more rapidly than my other flash drives, even though they about two years older.so far so excellent, entirely worth the value, in particular if your a student. (or a crash test dummy) the only con i can come up with is that the rubber grips aren't glued to the metal casing, but honestly it doesn't matter, and it would be so easy to do myself even if it did. ordered this immediately after watching my buddy drive over his with an suv, and drop it from a 3rd story developing in the exact same day with out harm. i was sold on the spot, although i have no plans to drive more than it personally :P

Corsair is a incredibly effectively identified name brand. SIZE!!! 8GB is A lot of storage in a flash drive. Solid aluminum housing essentially means you can drive an 18 wheeler over this point and your data will nonetheless be kept intact. Speed is average...can't really complain. Smaller hole on edge of drive signifies it fits onto a keyring perfectly despite it's bulky size. Package comes with a USB extension cable, which you'll require if you want to use any other USB ports on the side top or bottom of this drive. Also comes with Corsair imprinted logo dog tags, which in spite of getting kinda nerdy...I truly feel are fairly cool. Newegg had this on sale, so I figured, why not. Drive comes preloaded with TrueCrypt encryption software program if you have the want for it. Can't format it NTFS....gotta remain FAT32. Which, getting 8GB would be good, mainly because FAT32 file size is restricted to only 4GB, and I operate a lot with Final Cut Pro DV files. No big deal even so...I knew this when I bought it. Drive comes with TrueCrypt encryption computer software, which I'm not that familiar with, but it looks like it's going to take a lengthy time to figure out how to use it. A lot of other evaluations are saying this drive is slow...I don't know what the situation is that people are getting. I copied almost 2 gigs of smaller files from a SanDisk Cruzer to the new Corsair drive in 5 minutes. To me that doesn't seem very slow at all. My SanDisk Cruzer is a two GB drive, and this new Corsair drive is 8. I decided to go with this drive simply because I wanted the increased capacity, and Newegg just happened to have the space I needed at a fair cost. Not to mention that this drive will forever be on my keyring, and I can't wait to show off to all my friends that my flash drive is produced out of indestructible aircraft grade aluminum! :)

Nicely, I'd just like to begin off by saying that this point seems to be bullet proof. Quickly file transfers for smaller files and it's 8 gigs. Extremely huge file transfers tend to be slower, but that's ok with me because I don't generally move multi-GB files around. While, this is my first big capacity flash drive, final a single was a 1 gb, so it may have a pretty widespread speed for very significant flash drives. There was a mail in rebate three days immediately after I purchased it, but it was nevertheless worth what i paid for it. I'm a college student, so I take my flash drive everywhere and have a tendency to destroy them. I'm fairly confident this one will stand up to the abuse. Other men and women have stated that it is big and you can not use the usb jacks around the drive, but I can't see why a typical usb cable couldn't fit about it. I wouldn't try to plug another flashdrive or similer usb adapter in next to it though.

This factor is the Bomb I have had mine for more than two years and it has been a solid performer. I have to purchase a new one particular now simply because unsheathed it is vulnerable. I turned my back and my two year old hid it in the haystack of my home. This issue is amazing it is definetely the a single you want if you are in any type of rough field. Ladies it doubles as one particular of these keychain weapons that they sell you in self-defense classes. Guys it also doubles as a function of quarters. Place it on your keychain and take it exactly where ever you go. It would be a much more effective weapon if the case had been a little longer. It is only protected when sheathed

Nearly indestructible design, waterproof, ten year warranty. Slow, considerably slower then my old 1 GB drive. To the point it get tedious waiting for files to copy when in a hurry. When the drive is plugged into a thin laptop, the rounded end tends to elevate the drive a small and put pressure on the USB connector. Also, when on a crucial chain, the weight appears to be a little substantially combined with the drive itself and it sags a small. Not positive if that's such a good factor. A handful of quirks here and there, but a solid drive general if rugged is your ultimate need to have.

Durable, won't get lost very easily. Incredibly slow. I was expecting considerably larger transfer rates then what I get with this drive. On average, I get about 5KBps on transfers. Many files are even worse, at times obtaining beneath 1KBps. Have tried on several computers with USB 2. and get similar outcomes. The 8gb Micro SDHC card I bought for my telephone is more than twice as rapidly as this drive and and a fraction of the size. Granted, I can't go scuba diving with it but for as major of a drive as this is, I would anticipate much better transfer rates.

Hopefully this is just a fluke and the second a single I get will work a heck of a lot far more days than just 3.

Amazing small flash drive! In no way expected any much less from Corsair. Dog tags are meh, but it's a real good, long chain. You can hang it about your neck for fashion. I was surprised at the weight but got applied to it real speedy. You never have to worry about sitting on this rascal and crushing it. None. It's always fun to unscrew it in such a way to make other individuals feel you're pulling out some virus in a sealed container. Or have it hooked on your hip and pretend it's a genuinely smaller sword and scabbard. Oh yeah and it's a flash drive. It does that kinda stuff as well.

Dang near indestructable. Wonderful for the rugged outdoorsman that has a laptop on the go or the soccer mom who has youngsters trampling almost everything in site, this stick takes a licking and keeps on, erm, ticking!? At times the noise it makes when you unscrew the cap tends to make your toenails curl (little bit of graphite lube fixes it appropriate up). I wish I could acquire other Survivor-fied points that stood up to punishment as well as this thing does.

Swing it around on a lanyard and crash it into a wall, stomp on it, toss it in the washer, give it to a infant to chew on. I wouldn't advise any of these, but I'm sure it'll stand up to it. I can vouch for the baby. Most ruggedly develop flash drive I have ever noticed. A bit slow on writes, specially for several smaller writes (bad software program style, anyway). It takes about 4 minutes for eMule to close if I run it off the flash drive. Luckily I don't do it that often. Appears speedy enough for my everyday activities. It hurts when a baby hits you on the head with it. I chose this one particular to survive, having suffered several premature flash drive deaths, and I suspect that it'll do that. The fact that it is a bit slow is a smaller cost to spend. I choose safety over speed.Updated the version of Truecrypt that it came with.
