Absolutely love this thing, ordered 3 more after testing the first one. One thing people should know is that if you connect a 2.5 laptop hard drive which is powered via usb, do NOT connect it to a usb hub and expect it to work, there is not enough power in the hub to fire up the drive enough for windows to recognise it. Plug it straight into the computer and it will work fine.

I just upgraded my PC. My new PC only has SATA internal connections. Unfortunately, I had just bought a new IDE DVD burner for my old PC. I wanted to keep it alive, so I bought this adapter. It did not work. The adapter and mass storage devices were recognized by Windows XP according to the directions - however, the drive is not accessible (with or without media loaded) in Windows Explorer. The troubleshooting tips cover such a scenario, but the instructions do not apply to a non-HDD.

Highly Recommend this device. It has never failed to read or write data to or from an attached EIDE or SATA HDD. It's a steal for $25!!!

I trust my life with this equipment! We have it here for my job and i cannot tell you how many hard drives this has saved. For 25 bucks this is an absolute steal!!

Best $25 bucks I have spent in a good long while. Worked in Vista, Linux, WinXP never even looked at the instructions! Painless helpful paid for itself the very first time I used it on a clients machine.

It takes a lot to impress me, and for $19.99 it doesn't happen often. This product is an exception. Flawless! Worked with Linux (SUSE 10.2) without even looking at the instructions. I plugged it in and copied what I needed direct (via K3b) to a DVD without even needing to put it on to the local hard drive. I needed it right away and tried Circuit City and Best buy, no luck. Went to CompUSA as a last resort and lo and behold, it was on the shelf along with a number of other similar products. The sales person was knowledgeable and personable. I've never been a big CompUSA fan but now that Tiger Direct has bought them, I'll have to reconsider.

Lots of plastic and an on/off slide switch that may need replacement in the future but it worked perfectly with a sata drive under Vista. With a little care this should last a long time.
