OK case, worst power supply
Comment:
Apex SK-503 Black Mid-T CaseI had ordered six cases for work and all of them had bad power supplies. Some were DOA and others died after turning it ON once. If you use Micro ATX board, the wires from the front panel (power, LED, reset) do not reach the mother board, I had to punch out 3.5 inch plate and then it was a tight fit. With ATX board the harddisk interferes with the SATA connectors. This retailer replaced the power supplies with Diablotech 350Watt PS and they are very good.

Intel Core 2 Duo E7500 Processor BX80571E7500 You don't hear many people crowing about the duos with everyone throwing quads in their builds, but these puppies have outstanding performance and offer a significant savings over more recent offerings. For the silent majority, a smart buy.

Nice for the Price
Comment:
Apex SK-503 Black Mid-T Case As others mentioned you don't want to be rough with this unit while building as the metal is thin and will bend. But how much does a desktop get move around when done.... One GOTCHA on the particular unit I received to watch out for. The wires for the power switch were labled as the LED lights and vice versa. I almost did a return until I realized this as I could not power the unit at all. Once I switched the wires to their correct spot on the motherboard all was well.

Works!

Gigabyte G41M-ES2L Motherboard Gigabit tech support was helpful. Don't forget the 4-prong power supply plug for the mother board. Once I corrected my mistake, it took off without a hitch.

Gigabyte G41M-ES2L Motherboard i ordered this as part of a bundle. first mobo i got was defective. second one wouldn't completely seat the processor. even when the cpu fan was tightly secure the processor wasn'tt. gigabyte told me there was no way to fix this so i switched to an intel mobo. seemed more like a bad product than bad luck

Huge bump up from pentium IV
Comment:
Intel Core 2 Duo E7500 Processor BX80571E7500 this processor is very fast. plenty fast for everything I do including online games like WOW and BF42 and also some recording software. With all those things the stock fan keeps the cpu very cool, right now its at 27c and when I'm playing games its around 35c. With this price it's a HUGE deal!

Comment:
Gigabyte G41M-ES2L Motherboard I didn't read the specs close enough and was surprised that it had only one IDE connector on the board. Otherwise, I am well satisfied.

Gigabyte G41M-ES2L Motherboard This board is not compatible with XP no service pack disks and some OEM disks. If you have Vista or W7 you may be fine but XP can have problems.

Great value and quality in a Budget Build
Comment:
Gigabyte G41M-ES2L Motherboard Recently assembled this mainboard as part of a kit and quite satisfied with performance. There was a slight confusion with the SATA,IDE bridging protocols but this is not out of line with other chipsets and manufacturers. The fabrication quality is impeccable in true G-B fashion. Excellent value for the dollar.

In RAID 0 everything is fast!
Comment:
Western Digital WD5000AAKS Caviar Blue Hard DriveI have two of these in a RAID 0 config. The read write speeds of 187MB read, 184MB write is only slightly slower, 204MB read, on my RAID 0 32GB SSD. I am going to add two more drives to the array and get more speed and one TB of storage for the same price as the 32GB SSD. RAID 0 is a much simpler addon to speed and you don't have the performance degradation that you have with old SSDs. I am on my third SSD in 18 months.

Convienient but failure-prone
Comment:
Western Digital WD5000AAKS Caviar Blue Hard Drive I have two of these, and up until 2 days ago I was fairly satisfied. However, I just lost 420 GB of data on one due to corrupt firmware, which is apparently a common problem (among others) with this model. Data recovery would cost roughly $600...which is outside my budget. To keep things short, if you buy this drive, BE CAREFUL! Make regular backups of your data so that you won't lose it like I did.
