Western Digital WD5000AAKS Caviar Blue Hard DriveMy Pentium 4 main board (socket 478) will not detect this drive because it is a SATA 2 (300 Mbps) drive. So, FYI just because your board has SATA ports doesn't mean it will work. It may only be able to detect SATA 1 (150 Mbps) drives.

Quality: It Broke.... Performance: it worked for a while.... Overall, judging from the other reviews, i got a defective product.

Western Digital WD5000AAKS Caviar Blue Hard DriveI bought two of these WD5000AAKS and one started showing SMART errors, then slowly died. WD stood up well to the warranty and got a replacement to me in 2 days free shipping both ways. However, the replacement is a refurbished WD5000KS. I don't mind the refurbished part since it is still under warranty, but unlike the AAKS the KS has a sata and a molex power input. It just looks different. I think it has the same performance.
