Quite quiet and cool. I can turn off my side panel fan and drop my front situation fans to about 800 rpm and the boards never ever go more than 50C (so says AMD overdrive). Only require 1 x 6 pin power connector. I am operating two in crossfire and a 955be cpu with a 500w Antec power provide. I get about 120 fps at 1920x1080 all Ultra in Dirt two. Just Trigger two about the identical. Not but. Got them Christmas day and no problems. Don't know how they are on their personal, but much less than 踰 fro two and they beat a 5970 or gtx580. (In the benchmarks I've read.) It's as well negative you can't adjust the voltage but, I bought these since I didn't want to mess with vid card overclock. If you do, maybe check out the stock speed card.

I don't know how performance/cost could be a better worth than a card with the HD 6850 can be. I have a 1680x1080 dual monitor setup and I can run games with the highest graphic settings without any issues. It's a physically significant card so if you are inside the situation much you might have to take it out to get to the rest of your components. It does generate noticeable situation noise with the dual fans that appear to run at 30% minimum the moment the GPU has 'warmed up'. If you have game efficiency problems, you might will need to upgrade other core components instead of just the GPU. I was getting issues with SC2 and this card helped but my old CPU (Phenom Quad @ two.three) was the actual bottleneck. I upgraded to a Phenom II Quad @ three. and that allowed for my GPU to be totally utilized and solved the issues I was getting. I reinstalled my old GPU (HD 5770) immediately after the CPU upgrade and I had to turn the graphics settings down to keep smooth gameplay whereas the HD 6850 had no issues with maxed graphc settings.

Good cooling, but that's to be expected with Gigabyte. Can run Crysis at "High" graphics at a pretty continuous 30-40 fps. WILL dip down to 20 in genuinely high-traffic regions with a bunch of explosions, but it runs excellent otherwise. For some reason the proprietary fglrx driver does not work for me in linux. Truly not a huge problem, I can deal with it, but just a warning to other people who might expertise issues with it. I play at 1920x1080, and I can get relatively good efficiency in all of my games. BFBC2 provides me 50~ fps at the highest graphics settings. Homefront runs at a steady 35 fps (for the complete three hour campaign) on highest, easy 150+ fps in all source games.

Comment:
Card installed simply with no troubles and worked excellent the first day. At 50 percent the fans are not silent in my situation but they are quiet. Idled about 45 C and in the course of furmark only reached 58 C. Not pleased at all with the durability of this 1. Day 2 it died devoid of a sound. Return shipping for the RMA does increase the cost because I am waiting now for a replacement. Did not contain a crossfire bridge in the package as expected. I've applied Gigabyte exclusively for my mobos and graphics cards and this is the 1st difficulty. I got this card to play some graphics intensive games I bought my kids for Christmas. If the replacement dies and disappoints them on Christmas I'll be changing brands. I'll see how it performs when it arrives and post again later.

Pros:PrettyPrice is okayLow temperatureGood performance/price
Comment:
The temperature was low so the cooler is making a great job. It's not so loud in idle but it's loud when gaming. This card died only after 2 hours, I guess I got a bad one but with VIP, I didn't have to pay for shipping it back. I always buy Gigabyte motherboards without problems, first time I buy their video card but not sure if I will in the future.

Have not noticed any lag issues even with highest graphics in WoW. This issue can effortlessly double as a property theater output in particular if you have a blu ray drive. I mean it even puts the audio in the HDMI for you! Will pixelate if you move the slider as well quick in 1080p films but it quickly dissipates. Almost certainly will need games with heavier graphics to truly test this card. Future proof with 3D potential? =) I cant think of any except to remember to install the drivers. Devoid of drivers every thing looks like "dog squeeze" (to satisfy newegg filters). If you play WoW, in 25 man raids it freezes up and I had to turn down the graphics slightly. Even so, this is most likely a CPU bottleneck as WoW takes up more CPU than usual games.

Cons:big, likely will not fit in mATX tower cases.

Pros:An economical card, delivers good performance
Comment:
Bought it according to Tom's hardware in February.I'm surprised that after two months this card is still on Tom's recommended list at ~$150. At the time of writing this review the price hasn't fallen at all. However, with the 7000 series already released, AMD may reconsider their product strategies quickly.Even though the card has 2 fans, they are fairly quiet most of the time, even during heavy loads.By the way, for those of you thinking about an HD 6790, don't get that, buy this instead. I believe 6790 needs 2 additional power cords instead of 6850's one.Be warned, rebates can take very long to arrive, so get it done as early as possible. Note that once you cut the UPC label from the box you can't refund the product and can only replace it provided that it's broken.

Worked out of the box. Replaced the four year old GPU of a competing brand and moved my graphics knowledge index from four.2 to 7.7. HD6850 is a excellent bang for the buck and the most overall performance I could get with out replacing my Antec 380 watt power provide. I am not a gamer, so I will possibly be happy to move this card to my subsequent create. Included user manual is a joke. A superior a single is on line. No exactly where do they talk about what to do with the installed video drivers of a various brand. Supporting supplies were almost non existent: one particular DVI to VGA adapter, 1 4pin molex to 6pin PCI power adapter and 1 driver CD. That is ALL. Huge whoopee! The overclock is not sufficient to impress everyone but it is worth a couple of bucks simply because I knew I wasn't going to do it myself.

It works great with my Gigabyte graphic card, but the fan is a little loud. The problem I have is, NCIX seems to give me an open box. There is no wrap for my box, and the plastic sticker on the fan has been loosen out a little. This review was modfied by poster @ 04-02-12 07:41 PM

It worked for a handful of months. I bought this card around January and it has given me absolutely nothing but difficulties like my cursor bugging out, my screen slpitting in two, and overall much less performance than was expected from a card whos series is so excellent. If I could get a refund I would. Don't purchase this card.

Quiet, Cool, effective, excellent for HDMI interface, functions with my LG 42" Tv without having any hassel. For a swift comparison, I went from a GTS 250 1GB which got on typical 50 to 55 frames per second on Furmark 1.eight, while hitting 70 Deg C on the common benchmark. The 6850 OC on the exact same exact test got 76 FPS even though only hitting 50 Deg C. My general wattage pull on my Computer has decreased as well, but I'm not playing anything like Crysis, either. In addition, my GTS 250 had problems displaying to both my monitor and Tv, where I would constantly have to readjust the desktop size on the Tv to much less than 1080p. It would also struggle when displaying to each. The 6850 automatically recognizes the Television and displays appropriately and the temp only goes up a couple Deg C. Catalyst take some receiving applied to. I've been a Nvidia user up until now. Am at the moment haveing troubles operating 3DMark Vantage, but not with my games or other software. So, most likely just a driver issue. I had a lot of difficulties stripping the old Nvidia drivers from my technique. Catalyst is weird enough without having having conflicts from old Nvidia drivers. Taking into consideration my earlier GPU was an 8800GTX from early 2007, and expense virtually 軸, and how unstable that was (not to mention how quite a few RMA's), and then how the GTS 250 was going for around 财 in early 2010 for about the exact same overall performance (although fully stable), Spending 赞 on this card for such a dramatic improvement with stability to me is a bargain.
