I have used Desk Star drives for numerous years with excellent results and this drive is no exception. I just purchased another of this model right after more than a year of working with the similar model. The new one spun up flawlessly and has been in steady use for more than a week and I have been thrashing it just to see how it compares to the retail version. (no difference) It is flawless. I will compose once more if I can discover anything to complain about. I don't fully grasp all of the failures I read about. I suspect weak energy supplies and failure to seat the plugs properly but I can not reproduce the failures in any Hitachi drive. There must be some other factor than the drives making problems considering that I have but to have any failure of a Hitachi drive.BTW in random reads and writes it blows away the Samsung F3 also. The sequential read numbers are irrelevant. |

Value is nice, if you discount higher failure rate Higher failure rate I ordered two of these and following receiving the incorrect item, got those RMAed to acquire two of the right models with MFG date of August 2010. Of these two, a single failed (click/beep) right out of the wrapper and the other is running Barts Stuff Test now for 18 hours with no troubles. NE is sending me a replacement. Let's hope third time's the charm.P.S. Very disappointed if this is Hitachi's new high quality model. Sometimes you wonder about testimonials posted but these now look ideal on the cash. Even the WD brand appears tarnished lately. I nonetheless have some 15 year old WD Hitachi drives running 24 hours a day. What occurred to excellent in our planet? |

Was genuinely low cost (โ). Quickly. Great warranty. Trusted brand. LOUD. I replaced 2 500gb Western Digital drives with two of these. I mean wow. I can hear them grinding away while reading anywhere in my room, even with all the computer system fans (all 8) spinning. I couldn't even hear my 2 WD drives. I'll pay the handful of bucks further subsequent time and nevertheless with WD. A small scared soon after all the DOA and failed in a week feedback I'm seeing. Mine are in raid, so if even ones fails I'll lose everything. Going to have to make backups allready. |

Cheap, rapid when spinning, and lots of space. None that I'm aware of. I can't really say for certain how well these operate if they had been the primary drive in my computer. The seek is supposedly slow; nonetheless, I have no idea. I genuinely intended on acquiring these as an external backup rather than an internal OS drive; for that objective, they're fantastic.I'll dock an egg only mainly because I consider five stars need to be for the hard drives you'd want your OS to be on. |

As others have talked about, extremely quiet, runs cool - about as cool as my Caviar Blues, in the low 90's F. Transfer instances seem to be great, restricted a lot more by the speed of the other drives in my system. This is the drive my media center records Tv to, so it's in pretty heavy use, and there haven't been any troubles so far. Um - I consider it's been raiding my liquor cabinet? (Seriously - why do we HAVE to put something in right here???) This is the initially non-WD drive I've utilized in years (the Pc it's in has two 500GB Blues, two older 250 GB Greens, and two MyBook Essentials outside), but I'm pretty confident I'll be purchasing far more of them, because it'll be really a although before I can afford to replace 3-1ǘ TB with SSD's. And as usual, fantastic turnaround time from NewEgg! |

Works great for storage and media players! Don't assume! Just buy them... no DOAs and no issues so far... At times Challenging Drives get handled roughly by the shipping company which may lead to DOA problems or troubles later... as lengthy as the challenging drive producers honor their warranties its great - if they don't thats when they should deserve egg deductions. DOAs will always be resolved by NewEggs RMA policy - which has been amazing and the cause why we will only buy tough drives from NewEgg!! |

The motor spins up quietly. Temperature appears low. BIOS, Windows nor Linux can see drive. Cables and connections work fine with other SATA drives. Considering that Hitachi drives are being sold to another drive manufacturer, I wonder what sort of help I can expect on this orphan. With more than บ to RMA the drive plus the time to take it to UPS, this drive is not a bargain. When the drive is doa, I consider either Newegg or the manufacturer need to pay the return expenses.Hopefully, the replacement in a handful of weeks will operate. I wonder if this wait time comes off the warranty time? |

1TB, 7200RPM, Quiet None. Had I listened to the reviews, I would not have purchased 1. Rather, I purchased three. I am pleased I did. I purchased these for a raid 1 server w/hot spare operating Open-E DSS Lite. Ahead of I use any drive, I run the manufacturer software to put them by means of tests. I low level formatted them every 3 time. Every single have been via three read/write tests and performed flawless. I installed these in a raid 1 configuration and these are operating great. These are quiet unlike earlier evaluations even though they make noise as all drives do when reading/writing. I did not like the NewEgg packaging. Basically they broke off component of the crate and wrapped bubble wrap and sent them on the way. If you want a wonderful Raid OS in addition to FreeNAS, examine out Open-E DSS Lite. Performs fantastic. |

-It's 1TB 鿣GB) for 55 dollars when I purchased it. -7200RPM vs. 5200RPM gives slightly better overall performance than other 1TB drives out there. -Had no hassles with cloning old disk with Acronis. -SATA Plug and Play. -A tiny bit noisier than the WD 2500AAJS that was replaced. You can seriously hear the drive go clikity-clack in there... Took a although to clone the disk, but was up and running in beneath 2 hrs. Runs at about 41C or 104F so that's fairly affordable. Going to keep the old drive on standby just in situation ;) So far so excellent. |

I've had excellent luck with Hitachi's 500GB drives so i went with these even although there was a string of poor reviews. Complete format of 5 drives, a number of heavy simultaneous transfers, no problems. none so far Installed 5 drives, raid five in the SANS DIGITAL TowerRAID TR5M-BP (got in on the combo). excellent value. |

Cheap, my fault i generally spend much more dollars. Began clicking and finding disk drive error messages. Windows 7 asked me to back-up due to imminent failure. So I did and had some issues reading some of the files so i skipped them and lost them. But i have them backed-up on a different drive. Now I have to deal with Hitachi. Extremely 1st HITACHI drive i buy and almost certainly the last. My evaluation does not reflect on NewEgg.
