Quickly, cool, cheap upgrade from dual-core Core2s. The stock cooler looked like a stock cooler, it's not an i7. An outstanding, affordable upgrade from my old E6600. Coupled with yet another 4GB RAM it's truly given my aging technique a new lease on life-- I get playable framerates in BC2 now (where I was dipping as low as ten-12 FPS, esp on "foggy / smokey" maps with the E6600. It also tends to make operating multiple EVE Online customers much a lot more manageable.Stays cool under a Thermalright XP120 devoid of requiring a CPU fan at stock speeds / volts, although it's installed in a Lian Li PCV1000 (iirc) case, so there's an exhaust fan located ӭ.five inches behind the heatsink. My last Intel CPU served me properly for years, I'm expecting the same from this one particular. Effectively worth the (small sum of) income, to postpone the retirement of an aging program.

Exceptional overall performance for the priceOverclock to three.2 GHz with easeReasonably cool. (No overclock w/ Stock cooling: idol ᤱ Celsius) Slow when compared to an i7 Im waiting on a zalman CNPS9500 cooler so I can hold this point OCed to 3.two all the time. Ive gamed on this factor (bfbc2, tf2), Ive transcoded hundreds of hours of films to H264, I use it as my major recording setup with Studio A single incorporating reside virtual instrument tracks devoid of a hiccup. Never has it been noticeably slow; and i consider that that is a good measurement of performance: if you don't notice it, its working effectively.

A big upgrade to my Core2 Duo E8400. I play a lot of BFBC2 and was pointed to a quad core to make it run a lot greater. Wow has it ever i went from playing on medium avg 45-60fps to higher playing 40-60fps. Game is sooo considerably smoother now. No much more jerky load times or key dips. I ran a virus scan un rard a dvd9 played a movie and had 20 firefox windows open. And it just stated much more! Now i want to upgrade my 9800GX2 sad face :-( Get it if you want to take advantage of multithreaded apps and games. They are becoming mainstream now with Win7 64 bit os's. With 64 bit tech becoming the norm and multicored processors you can run any game or any app like its born to serve!

64 bit assistance, incredibly low energy consumption, stays cool.Quickly overclocked to 2.77GHz on stock fans, operating at 37C (upper 40s on high load). Doesn't rather beat my late Q6600 CPU. I feel one thing's wrong with this factor, simply because it doesn't even beat out my brother's non-overclocked Pentium D 820 in CPU tests.Either I got a undesirable CPU, or some thing else in this rig is dying. I program on replacing this with a Q9450 I located for low-cost, hopefully that fixes the difficulties I'm possessing.

For those that are seeking to comprehend Intel® Virtualization Technologies (Intel® VT) this CPU does have Virtualization Technology. It does say because the spec code is (SLGT6)Newegg desires to add this details to the list of spec. But the only difference from the Q9400 and Q8400 is the L2 Cache on the Q8400 is 4MB and the Q9400 is 6MB. Eventhou the Q9400 is more quickly but 15% the Q8400 is nevertheless an exceptional item to get at 169.99. The Q9400 is only 189.99. Lack of info about this intel item. Excellent information supplied by Intel site.Note: This item product does have VT help

Nicely, just before i bought this, i had never had a quad core in my builds, i couldnt figure out why i was lagging on crysis on very high.... i had this mentallity that dual cores were much better for gaming.....i had gtx460's in sli and a core 2 duo at three.3ghz, so why lag appropriate? Effectively, it turns out they were running at one hundred% all the time, so i turned to more cores rather than speed, fixed the problem and was a excellent upgrade, very easily overclockable to 3.0ghz, this quad core does the job and even more, never ever gets pushed previous 70% even on the most stressful situations. Which is Crysis, for quick. Oh, and if you program to use this for gaming, you def. want a third party cooler, simply because the cores reach about 70c-75c without a fantastic cooling fan, superior yet, suggest a liquid cooling method not genuinely any, inexpensive price, but was truly leaning towards i5 giving the proccesers are around the same price tag range why didnt i see the challenge ahead of?

Overclocked to three.16 on stock volts of 1.248 on an old โ g31 board. Temps are mid 30s idle and low 50s maxed out on intel burn test. I was in a position to get it up to three.34 on stock volts just before the northbridge began hanging on my low-cost board. I'd be shocked if this chip couldn't hit 4. with the right gear. Temp sensors on 2 cores are stuck at 38 and 40. I study this is rather widespread for the 45nm Core 2 line. They kicj in as soon as the temp goes more than the stuck point, so I'm not worried about it. Get an aftermarket heatsink and fan if you strategy on overclocking, which you really should due to the fact you must generally max out your hard earned dollars.

This CPU is fast and is a fantastic improvement more than my old Pentium four. I was hesitant about acquiring and thought about going with the i5, but this unit performs great for me. I would suggest to anyone that doesn't need the most recent, up-to-date CPU, but demands one particular with plenty of processing energy...this is it! none...though the stock Intel cooler didn't operate that fantastic and had to acquire a third-celebration heatsink/cooler... Fair price tag, encodes rapidly Horribly annoying whining sound from the cpu. Its not the fan, had the similar fan on a preceding processor with no noise. Its not overheating, idles 30-40, 50-low 60's beneath 100% usage, All the things about my setup is precisely the same but now I have a terrible whine coming from the processor. Purchased the processor for an HTPC and a terrible whining sound is a bad thing for a household theater.

Very good performance for the cost, I bought this CPU for compiling C++ projects employing parallel develop options and it functions great for such sort of tasks. It is a low price range quad-core that can make a great cheap upgrade to your old technique, but be conscious, make sure your motherboard supports it ahead of purchasing (look at the manufacturer internet site, from time to time BIOS upgrade are necessary)! Also, for gaming, the vidcards are commonly the weakest link for performance, so this CPU is adequate for any modern game (and possible all coming game for a even though). The CPU employed to make a (very) annoying whine with the stock BIOS version of my motherboard. I upgraded the BIOS and the whine appears to be gone...

Boosted a buyers old asus P5B extended the life of that old board. Was employing a core two duo two.66. Generally feels like I am going to break the mobo with the fan attachments. This is the same as all intel boxed processors Iahave employed. You have to flash the bios on thios board prior to installing the quad core. Great that it supports it though. Excellent job asus.

Good CPU for a good cost. Haven't come across anything it can't deal with. Intel heatsink sucks. I couldn't play any games devoid of it jumping into the ninties.Do yourself a favor and by a third party heatsink. I bought a Zalman and it worked wonders.

1) The CPU runs wonderful when everything is appropriatetwo) multiple coresthat is what earned it it's one particular added star The Heat sink has a manufacturing defect (more information: google > "Intel heatsink" > Ţ outcome) The heat sink does not seat on the CPU effectively. The push pins result in the major half of the CPU to not have good get in touch with with the Heat sink diffuser. This causes excessive temperatures in the cores of the CPU. Also the stock thermal compound is too thick. If you strategy to obtain this CPU I strongly discourage it. The value of this is as well pricey when compared to other models and you'll have to get a various sort of thermal compound and possibly a different heat sink. Not worth the difficulty.

1.) Quad-Core2.) Virtualization 1.) Slower than the Core two Duo E7400 it replaces.two.) A 10% load acts as a one hundred% load.three.) Regularly restarts Windows Explorer and World wide web Explorer.4.) My broadband cable connection acts as a dial-up connection. This connection is a 7MB common with a 15 MB power boost through Time Warner Cable. This cpu is the only modify I've created to the personal computer it's in.I've utilised Intel and AMD dual-core processors that can virtualize and come across them underpowered for this area. This is why I got a quad-core processor.

Really fast! I have built quite a few systems for shoppers working with the Core two Quad line and Core i7 񡿖 and 1156) and with this similar chip overclocked to 3.2 ghz, this issue compares to the Core i5 750 and i7 920 for a fraction of the expense! my only point thats annoying to understabd genuinely is the way UPS decides what goes exactly where and when. I ordered this on 2ǚ񳏊 and it sat unprocessed by Newegg till the 8th. My order was split in two packages and shipped at identical time. They arrived in Jacksonville FL Ɠ hours drive away) UPS decided to provide a single package today to me and decided to reschedule the other's shipment tomorrow. I guess you get what you pay for LOL (which I didnt, so my poor on myself actually....Totally free SHIPPING) DO Your self THE FAVOR, spend for the FedEx shipping. Ever watch Ace Ventura when he is posing as the UPS delivery driver? LoL!! My Antec case I received currently looked like it was kicked down a handful of halls to be sincere. The box on the side was caved in and had a large hole in the side. Makes me wonder what they are carrying out to my other package they decided to hold from me. Excellent thing I bought from Newegg tho lead to they have an excellent RMA. GoGoGo pay for the FedEx shipping if you want a more safer way for your products to ship!!!
