Great processor
Comment:
I bought this to add to my new system and I love it. I purchased a 790I ultra mobo, 8 gb OCZ ram, 2 - GTX 260 super clocked video cards, 700 watt power supply, 1 tb seagate HDD,and Lite-on Blu-Ray all to go with this processor. Everything seems to be performing perfectly so far with the exception that it won't play blu-ray movies. The fan and processor run great and stay cool.

Great Chip
Comment:
Does the work a 2.88 GHz Quadcore 8mb l2 cash does and better because of the 45nm chip design. Comes with a fan but if your doing anything that works your CPU hard, Buy a Masscool 8WA741 (the size is better because it doesn't interfere with the motherboard).

Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400 2.66GHz LGA 775 95W Quad-Core Processor
Cons:Would like more cache

Pros:Extra processing power with 4 cores. VT enabled.
Comment:
My Q8400 came with the VT enabled. Works great for running Linux and Windows simultaneously with VT.Runs cool. Great price. Highly recommended.

Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400 2.66GHz LGA 775 95W Quad-Core Processor
Cons:Low L2 cache which may hinder performance in certain aspects.

Pros:-8x multiplier on a relatively cheap Quad core.-Great for multimedia/server PCs-comes with VT enabled-Easily overclocked-Cool
Comment:
Overall, an excellent processor and a much better alternative to the Q8300 as a 400FSB will allow a 3.2GHz chip with ease. It also comes with Intel's VT (for Windows 7's XP virtualization & servers) straight from production start compared to the Q8300 (and some other processors) who have only begun to ship with VT enabled.

Professional quality performance!
Comment:
I bought this one without the fan and used the freezer pro. It runs about 40-42 degrees and will run about 9 vsti's, ''virtual synths'' and a couple dozen effects plugins, and over 32 tracks total before any hiccups. Also gives me down to 7ms latency with an emu pci sound card. I am using an P965-s3 gigabyte motherboard with about 4 gigs 800 memory and the bus speed is not overclocked but runs about 1100mhz. A better motherboard would do this justice. I also have another computer with the same motherboard but a Q6400, yes they made a few of them, and the e8400 will render large files quicker. I find that anything other than certain video rendering that the value of the speed of this processor outweighs it not being a quad core. I am glad I bought it.
