Intel - Motherboards mITX Mbd Atom D510 DDR2 SATA Aud Feth
Cons:
Only 2 SATA II
Pros: Excellent server for VoIP PBX, NAS and CRM. Has all the best quality being quiet, Power efficient Comment:
Bought this motherboard for the D510 at sub $100 price. Installed 4G memory and 2 pair of 1.5TB SATA II drive.Overall, due to it's limited SATA ports, I have to tweak around for linux - RAID and have my VoIP server, CRM server installed in no time. Not only I implimented a low cost 3TB NAS server for my windows network using linux Samba, the raid 0 configuration theoritically speed up parallel HDD performance. Being a server, there is not much performance needed but power saving feature on this motherboard was excellent. almost 1 month on the run without switching off and no sign of problem.... Compare with other NAS, I say this is more efficient...and cost effective. |

Intel - Motherboards mITX Mbd Atom D510 DDR2 SATA Aud Feth
Cons:No DVI port, lack of HD video content compatibility.
Pros:Cheap, fanless, efficient. Comment:
The D510MO may be considered as the evolution of the N330 based motherboards. While being more efficient than the n330, it allows fanless operation unlike the n330 who require a fan.Coupled with an SSD drive, it makes a 100% silent solution. The D510MO doesn't support HD video contents and neither DVI monitors. Both these factors makes it a less popular choice for HTPCs, but still an excellent one for small PCs or small home servers. |
I bought this to build a lower-power box, since I always leave one pc on. I had low expectation, and it's blown them away. I have xp pro 32bit installed now, but I'll try Ubuntu and Win7 64 soon. Understand that this board is limited, but there's been no noticeable performance loss on most day-to-day tasks and surfing over my i7. Because I'm running more than 1 hd, I had to make my old pci sata card into a low-profile one (an ungly hack job on my part), but's more than what I was hoping for.
