The drive works fine, but there is embedded adware in the firmware of the drive! Make sure you go to the manufacturer's website and download the update for the firmware to remove the embedded adware.

This is not a Lightscribe burner as it said when I ordered it & as the image shows. Since it took a while before I could install it my 30 days expired so could not return it. Be very careful when buying here, search the serial # to be sure it is what they say it is.

Always trusted LG brand optical drives, as I've never had a problem with them (way back since the CD optical storage solutions).Paid about $23. Would purchase again if needed.Only thing I didn't like (like other reviewers) was the "Bluebird" firmware/software, which I find somewhat annoying.

This is a good dvd burner, I never had a problem with the LG in 6 years, by cons, to integrate a software player like not too fine to approach the program to burn mac but good I prefer not to have at least have the choice to install or not

THESE DRIVES ARE GREAT IF YOU HAVE A GOOD BURNING PROGRAM YOU CANT BEAT THEM,,, YOU ONLY NEED TO UPGRADE YOUR BURNING PROGRAM NOT THE DVD DRIVE AND YOU CAN ALSO UPGRADE THE FIRMWARE TO REMOVE THE BLUEBIRD STUFF AS WELL

I warn you ! this drive comes with a program called BLue Bird google it ! and will not allow you to burn music or dvd's LG plays dum about the program and says they didnt know it was on there , but yet they have a program to remove , but then when cd's are dont they say there was an error and entire drive freezes , wont even open . I warn you

Had buy this drive for a low end rig at a marvelous price of 23 buck.I was aware of the Blue bird thing and i just upgraded the firmware and woop....no more problem.I'm not a big fan of LG but so far he seems to work as good as my Pioneer 216...my friend at this price you can't go wrong,but at regular price,going to Pioneer or samsung for 2-3$ more is at my own opinion a better choice at long term!!! Bought this for my new system a little over a month ago. Works great and looks nice in my black HTPC case. The only annoying thing is the "Bluebirds" issue mentioned by other reviewers. My advice: run Linux, then it can't autostart anything. It just shows up as a mounted volume called Bluebirds, but you don't even notice it.Very well-priced; this is my second LG and no complaints.

It works properly - what can I say? I've installed several such drives over the past few months. I'd buy one for myself if I needed a new optical drive.

Games and other software install beautifully and quickly. However, I backed up some programs to a few dual layer dvd's and the drive would not recognize them. I would NOT BUY this again!

I haven't used it to burn anything yet, so I can't comment on that. What I can comment on is that it doesn't seem to put out audio when playing DVDs. Not sure if it's the bundled software of the player itself, but either way it's not a good thing and I've been reading the same complaint on the manufacturers website. Video would play, in poor quality, but absolutely no audio. Not even playing on a different program could produce audio. CDs play audio just fine. I guess I got what I paid for though I'd expect DVD audio from an DVD drive.

This is a great burning product. I do not know why someone stated that you need to upgrade to play a dvd, upgrade what? Probably someone that does not know about computers? Great buy!!!

Everything is good except one thing: no lightscribe feature. I would not say it's a really important one but most of modern devices has it on board.

This is very good for burning, and so forth, but dont try dvds on this, it wants you to upgrade and thats 60$. so value good, features horrible, quality and performance are bad cause for the upgrade needed to play dvd's.

This is an excellent product works very nice and have been using this writer for about a month now, but does not come with SATA cable so just beware of this before purchasing this product.

LG makes some really quality products and the price was right on the mark. Performance is great and the DVDRW/CDRW was bundled with a good choice in software.

for $23, it's a great drive, I usually got a love/hate relationship with LG cuz of past experience, so far the drive is pretty good, just dun like that some of what it came with.

Overall a great unit. The ''Bluebird'' tag helps me separate it from my other CD/DVD drives.OEM software package left a bit to be desired but upgraded to Nero 9 anyhow for more features. Would have been helpful if I had known I needed to supply my own SATA cable but that was the only ''surprise''. The only thing that would have made it better would have been LightScribe. For the price this was GREAT! I bought 4 for system builds.

The item shipped fast and worked right out of the box without having to get drivers or anything. I am running Windows 7 RC 64bit on the machine I plugged this into and it picked it up right away and I'm able to read and burn DVDs.

Good DVD Writer but one died after 3 days. I'll try to get my warranty, the other one works great!
