- This drive is quiet. Doesn't make alot of noise when spinning CD's, DVD's, or Blurays. - Price, it's not very expensive and worth the pennies. - Computer software is good. - No Accurate con's but see other. - Glossy, some like it, some don't. I don't like it. But for the price tag it was worth it. - A tad longer than my DVD Burner (~ .7" longer) kinda tends to make it appear silly inside my case. But oh effectively. Average size for the most portion and not overly large.- Doesn't due any burning like some BR Drives do. Not a con, and I knew. But I've heard some persons say they were surprised when I told them.

Worked for six months of light HTPC function Drive no longer recognized by the method. Changed SATA ports and got a flicker when windows restarted, then it died once again. Notified LITE-ON of the situation two weeks ago, nevertheless no response. This is the very first time in 20+ years of creating PCs’ that a business has basically ignored a difficulty element. This is the last LITE-ON product I will by no means acquire a LITE-ON item again if this scenario is not resolved. Be warned you are on your own with this business!

Drive works fine and was a snap to put in. Does stream DD5.1 on HDMI using a ATI HD 4000 series card. To get the newer uncompressed sound, you'll need a HD 5000 series. The included software program PowerDVD8 is obsolete. Attempted to play a current movie from netflix and it wouldn't play. No downloads readily available from Cyberlink and they seem to not be supporting in any longer. A trial version of PowerDVD9 and PowerDVD10 played, but only right after receiving the latest update. But PowerDVD9 for blu-ray is ์, and PowerDVD10 is 贄. That, plus the ๑ for this drive and you may as properly by a stand alone blu-ray player.

Plays blu-ray movies without having a hitch. None so far. Making use of this is a rather low power backup Pc. Just a Celeron with two GB of memory. Makes no difference for playing movies. Functions just wonderful.

If you take the time to mess with it and then buy some decent software program, you could be capable to get it to operate. This drive is a pain in the rump. It does NOT function nicely appropriate out of the box, all kinds of problems. I would in no way recommend this to a person who does not have a solid background troubleshooting hardware/software issues. It must not be this bad ideal out of the box, this is a product to be AVOIDED. The fact that they packaged this with Power DVD 8 is a joke. Even with the software program updated, and the newest firmware for the drive, the similar issues stay. This is a crummy item, with crummy software program, and NewEgg would be wise to NOT sell it any longer. If it keeps acting up, it's life will end soon. Initial poor product I have gotten from NewEgg. It's not even worthy of return, Lite On would likely attempt to resell it. I'll do someone a favor and give it a very good smack down with my sledgehammer.

Cheap, rapid, when it was operating it just worked. Utilised it to watch/rip blu-ray motion pictures to my hdd, no complaints about operating. Included PowerDVD software needed update to play some newer discs, but worked nicely. Immediately after eight months, the tray motor stopped working. I foolishly sat on it and didn't put in a warranty claim, now the man. warranty is expired. Oh nicely. Strong drive, next time I'm gonna get one that burns DVDs as nicely so I can consolidate to just 1 drive in my desktop.

Good BD player.Came with a silver faceplate which was a great surprise as my situation is silver. Comes with PowerDVD eight when PowerDVD ten is out. Power DVD upgrades are as well pricey. Like half the value of a low-cost stand alone BD disc player.

-Sata-Plays Blu-Ray's, CD's, and DVD's-Straightforward installation-Black face (and silver for those with a silver case)-Ran right out of the box -๐? I noticed it for a lot additional and also less costly but it's cool-Does NOT burn, I knew this when I bought it, I just thought I'd clarify it doesn't burn any format-The face is very glossy, my case is essentially flat black but other folks have stated that it was glossy so I knew what I was purchasing I'm operating a ATi 5450HD 1GB DDR5 and I also personal a blu-ray player for my television and my television is maybe one particular year old and the image on my laptop or computer is far better than on my television. Also, operating on a 5 year old LCD monitor. I was truly worried that my graphics card would be also old to appropriately run Blu-Ray excellent.

Has worked excellent for over a year. The Power DVD software had issues with my computer, insisting that I did not have a secure surroundings. Immediately after many rounds of re-installing diverse versions of the graphics card drivers, getting various patches for Power DVD, I was ultimately able to play a Blu-ray. Most other individuals I know would have provided up and mailed components back as an alternative of seeing it via. My graphics card is the onboard Intel G43 integrated in the ASUS P5G43T-M Pro. The drive itself has worked wonderful given that the minute I installed it, as verified by HD Decrypt getting able to read Blu-rays. Nonetheless, I am nevertheless incredibly annoyed at Energy DVD being so finicky.

- Operates additional or less like it ought to once you work about its troubles- One of the cheapest around 1) The PowerDVD software program eight that it comes bundled with does not play several Blu Ray's correctly, even with the upgrade patch installed. The ones it does play display occasional visual noise. The ones it does not function properly with (ex: Sherlock Holmes, Invictus, etc) show practically continual visual distortion. Upgrading to PowerDVD 10 resolved these problems for me. This was an unexpected annoyance to have to do this.two) The drive does not operate with hibernation on my Win XP Pro SP3 machine. Upon resuming from hibernation, the drive is dropped from Windows Explorer/Device-manager, and so on. Upon rebooting, my laptop or computer in fact won't boot till I unplug and replug the SATA cable which is bizarre. The drive seems ok as long as I don't use hibernate or sleep which is an additional very unexpected annoyance. I haven't been in a position to uncover a way to make this drive work with these power saving capabilities. I sent two messages to Lite-On tech help and have not received a response regarding this. - Was going to RMA this unit for a replacement, but have seen similar comments on the internet relating to troubles coming out of hibernation. Feel I will almost certainly go through the RMA work just to find that the replacement has the similar issue on my laptop or computer. Will reside with it for now and acquire yet another non Lite-On brand in the future and attempt my luck with that.- Two eggs mainly because the Blu-Rays do appear great when you can perform around the computer software and hardware issues related with this drive.

Plays CDs/DVDs ok. The first two Blu-ray discs that I attempted did not function. I tried each the normal Windows 7/Media Player 12, and also a copy of Corel Win-DVD 2010 Pro. Neither would play Blu-Ray films with this drive. I looked for a firmware update type Lite-On's web web page, but none was available. Both of these players function fine with Blu-Ray discs on my laptop. Soon after extra investigation, making use of the supplied PowerDVD 8 player and BD Advisor tool, I found that this Blu-Ray drive won't let you play "protected content" from a Blu-Ray disc (i.e. motion pictures) making use of a digital output to your monitor (HDMI/DVI). It will only function if you use an analog (VGA, D-Sub) output. How useless. Don't bother.

Blu-ray ROM worked out of the box with no problems. Blu-ray software program worked as soon as it was installed. Seems noisier compared to the DVD ROM it replaced. Does not create to DVD nor blu-ray (but for the price tag it is acceptable). The software package does not allow the mouse for all its functions (this is where it lost one star). You have to use your keyboard arrow keys to move to certain menu products and hit enter, like going to distinct chapters of the film. I have a Windows 7 Ultimate technique with an AMD quad-core on an MSI motherboard (-E45 series) with no graphics card. The motherboard has built in graphics and a HDMI output to a 46" LCD Tv. The PowerDVD installation CD says it operates with Windows 7 (which some other critiques said they necessary to upgrade). I have place in 3 blu-ray films in so far and all have played with no problems. One particular blu-ray movie did not appear sharp (Ironman I) but two other people (King Kong and Despicable Me) were notably sharper than DVDs. I am very pleased with the price tag (had a บ rebate) and efficiency.

Plays DVDs great out of the box. Affordable value. Consists of BD Player Application. Older and weakened version of PowerDVD computer software. Drive can not maintain up with BD content material stream. The serious flaw in this drive is its inability to dump information rapidly enough into the video stream. I can confidently take my video card, RAM and processor out of the bottleneck by tests of 1020p video over the interwebs. No difficulties there, but when I play a BD there are occasions the video freezes (audio plays on) till it lastly catches up and syncs once more. (Despite the 2MB buffer)The PowerDVD software is pretty great, but also has some significant drawbacks. One particular is that there is no mouse manage when a film is playing! You have to use curser arrows and <enter> to execute commands. The computer software also does not assistance Dolby Digital higher than two.. That's what it says on their web page (list of attributes), although I haven't tested it however, and the feature is not greyed out in the controls. It's at greatest a poor-man's resolution to get BD up and operating on a personal computer. I will live with it for now, but will probably have to upgrade in the future.Drivers and SW are totally updated.

The drive handles DVD and most blu-ray titles just fine. It does have concerns with some blu-ray titles. Titles such as Stargate: Universe, Babylon AD, Donnie Darko, Taken and Casino Royale, it refuses to play without having severe graphic anomalies. My suspicion is that it has to do with DRM but there's no true way to tell. At this time, Lite-On does not have a firmware update for the drive, so I'm stuck with about 1Ǚ of my blu-ray collection unplayable on my Computer.

Blu-Ray Capable 1) The software program is a joke2) The hardware requirements aren't spelled out... until soon after you run the "BD-Advisor" This drive functions (Blu-Ray playback) with a restricted set of video cards. Get the BD Advisor and run it Before you obtain this (or any other) Blu-Ray drive or you will soon discover yourself with a beautifully constructed Blu-Ray paperweight. If your hardware doesn't meet the somewhat arbitrary normal the application desires, it won't play anything at all. That's just plain crazy. At least it ought to play low-res video. My rating -- 3 eggs. I deducted two eggs due to the 5th rate application (shame on you Cyberlink).
