Comment:
I upgraded from a 8800gt and this is more quickly, quieter and runs cooler. It appears great as well. Mine came with the core clocked greater than was listed in the spec sheet. The massive cooler isn't as productive for the memory as it is for the core. I normally skip the factory overclocked cards and get the more affordable stock models, but this was one of the cheapest 460s at the time when I purchased it. No brainer.

Appears nice. Overall performance is wonderful. Paired with a Phenom II 955 I can set everything to "Ultra" in WoW four. with no perceptible performance hit. I believed with the dual fans this card would remain quiet beneath load. Nevertheless, it can get pretty loud after the fans spin up. It's not deafening or something, but you can certainly hear it above the rest of the fans in the case. Somewhat disappointed by this as the ATI 4850 this card replaced was whisper quiet. Since this card has two PCI-express energy plugs I had to use one of the supplied adapters. I'm relatively pc literate so I know I had everything hooked up appropriately -- yet upon energy up my space filled with smoke as the plastic around the adapter's wiring proceeded to incinerate itself. My only guess was that the adapter wasn't wired correctly. Luckily nothing was broken (besides the adapter!). Resorted to just ordering a new power supply with dual PCI-E connectors (which arrived defective <sigh>).

460GTXDual Fans = Virtually totally silentMSIFactory OCA lot of headroom to OC (some a lot more)Challenging to come across a much better 460GTX cardPuts the beatdown on 5770 cards (but it must because it expenses a lot more) It had a substantially better rebate when I got mine plus it was on sale. Total โ off the normal price. If you don't have a minimum 500W PSU then either get one or get a 450GTS card and reside with the so-so functionality (but a lot fatter wallet). Two 450GTS cards in SLI will outperform a single of these at roughly the similar cost or even less. I agonized over video cards for various days and I think my persistence paid off. This is by far the best card I have ever owned. The only way it could be any quieter would be to place some sort of passive cooling program on it. I replaced a 9800GT (also an MSI) and this card is a lot substantially quieter. It doesn't get loud even when if fire up BlackOps or any other game in my collection. Most impressive. Very smooth, even at resolutions up to 1920x1200. If you want to game on a single card with out completely busting the bank, this is the ticket!

Outstanding video card runs Dragon Age 2/Origins incredibly smooth identical with my other games that I have. Games running at 40-60 fps on higher settings. Great cooling idles at mid 30'sc and under load from DA2 55c. A little loud in my Cosmos 1000 below load but that's anticipated.

Chose the card with longevity in thoughts, not overclocking or gaming in thoughts. Hoping that the mil spec components and outstanding heat pipe/fan combination will offer that longevity. My prior method, a 12-year old Dell 8100 managed to burn thru four graphics cards in its lifespan.Card is quiet in regular use and, as noted in other reviews, stays cool. None. I am hoping that as OS and applications mature over the subsequent decade that the Fermi cores will prove useful for added compute cycles.

This has one of the finest right after industry coolers I've ever noticed on a graphics card. I've had the card for a week and it eats every little thing I throw at it. Currently stock installed it's operating at 18c below load and doesn't hit over 25c max load. It has some awesome overclocking abilities and I do like the msi overclocking tool it came with. All I can say is no matter if overclocked or not this card will last a lengthy although. The only challenge is make sure you have all your cables away from the graphics card. These fans will consume something that comes in contact, but it shouldn't be a issue for most.....come on folks it's referred to as cable management for a reason. 1...Amd phenom II X4 955 black edition (overclocked to two...4.1ghzƝ...Asus M4A77TD PRO Motherboard4...1tb western digital tough drive 7200rpmfive...4GB ƒ x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 1600 ram(forgot the brand nameƠ...CORSAIR HX Series CMPSU-750HX 750W Energy Provide7...Antec 900 caseeight...SAMSUNG Black Blu-ray Drive Model SH-B123L LightScribe Assistance.......(gotta have blue-rayƣ...Msi N460GTX Hawk Graphics card

Comes factory clocked at 780 MHZ. Not the fastest but a single of the quickest presented here.Comes with "after market place" cooling that is (so far) much quieter than my old 8800GT. Because of the cooling on the card it tends to make it a tight fit to place two into my case. It also covers my PCIE1x slots that are needed for my soundcard. Installed on Windows 7 devoid of a problem and haven't had any difficulties yet. I've constantly had fantastic luck with MSI products. It runs genuinely cool. I didn't break 40ºC when running FurMark, but I will update that when the warmer months get here as the baseline temp of the card ahead of stressing was 25ºC or so. The fans on the cooler haven't gotten to extremely high RPMs however, so it's been really quiet. Noisiest part currently is the DVD drive. I will post more once I manually crank the fans up. Also, (if I bear in mind) I'll post updated temps when the warmer circumstances arrive.

This is one particular of the quickest factory OC'd 460s on the market place. My 3DMark Vantage score shot up just about 4k points proper out of the box (coming from a two+ year old 9800GT SLI setup). It gets playable framerates (ㅖ) in Crysis on "enthusiast" in 1080p, and totally crushes significantly less demanding titles like CoD, Batman: Arkham Asylum and ME2.Plus it's cool and quiet, especially compared to my 9800GTs. The fans are barely audible and it's by no means gone above 65c under complete load, even after 30 min of furmark tension testing! It's a tremendously massive card and might be a tight match in smaller sized cases. All in all I couldn't be happier with this card. It delivers amazing performance for the cost. This is the 1st MSI card I've purchased and so far I'm certainly impressed. If all goes effectively I plan to invest in a 2nd for an SLI setup subsequent year!

Comment:
Strong. Pricey. I purchased this card for gaming. It replaced an XFX GeForce 9800: there was a noticable distinction in overall performance. The GeForce was slightly aged, and not capable of meeting my gaming demands (even overclocked). The MSI resolved that issue. I had some troubles with the card, at initial, simply because I was utilizing nVidias performance software package. I uninstalled that, then downloaded MSI Afterburner. The Afterburner software program does a substantially greater job of monitoring the GPU. The Afterburner computer software is customizable, and simple to use. Works like a champ! I was hesitant to commit so significantly funds for a graphics card, but it was properly worth the price paid.

These are truly excellent cards although they are working. Putting them in SLI mode has incredible scaling potential, producing just about any present game on the marketplace a breeze. These cards produced short work of Crysis, Crysis Warhead, Age of Conan and anything else that I threw at them without having ever overclocking them. I had two of these in SLI on an ASUS Rampage III Formula motherboard, i7-950 and a 1200W Corsair PSU.Inside 3 months one particular of them died completely and wouldn't even boot fully to Windows, and the other would BSOD below any sort of 3D load. I tested them individually soon after experiencing extensive graphical glitches. If only 1 card had gone poor, then I would have provided a three egg overview, but when two go dead inside the space of three months and virtually simultaneously, then I genuinely couldn't suggest this item to any person. The truth that each cards are dead, indicates I'm left with a absolutely useless gaming rig and sitting behind a five year old laptop till MSI receives them, and spends weeks either repairing them (no thanks) or replacing them. With the horror stories I've read about MSI and how lengthy this course of action takes, the next two generations of cards will be old news ahead of I get these back. Not to mention, sending their defective product back expense me the shipping fee. Fairly constant card. I haven't played with overclocking but, but the temps only vary five-10C beneath load, which is impressive. Been playing Rift on max settings with nearly no graphical lag. Superb overall performance for the cost I paid compared to the newer 500 series cards. I had an older mobo and had to play around for a couple of days with bios versions to discover one that agreed with this card. Early on I had difficulties with either the board or the PSU not recognizing the card and it thus would not start off up, but considering that I figured it out have had zero issues.

The card is a massive step more than my old MSI 8800GTS 512. I purchased an open box GTX460 Hawk for 贳.00, and when I went into Afterburner and Kombuster the card read 811mz on the core clock and 1622 on the shader. I got a Talon instead of the Hawk! I did not assume anymore of those had been about. What a deal, I really like dealing with Newegg. Totally none! I have a Dell XPS410 with the E6700, windows 7 64bit, and 4gigs of ram, Inventive X Fi Titanium Fatality and a Klipsch five.1 sound program. I upgraded the PSU to an Antec Earthwatts 650 at the similar time I put in the card and it runs like a champ.

Don't own item but as the title says, this is in response to an additional assessment. So before you spot a poor overview on a product, undertaking your research 1st may possibly assist you be much more informed. This is why you have 6 "Did not assist" marks for your overview. MSI issued a RMA with no any hassle at all. The total time for RMA request and two way shipping was 15 days. No complaints. The new card is as advertised - it is truly quiet, stays cool, and is generally a excellent card. Lost 1 egg since of initial card defect, but the functional model truly is a gorgeous and awesome card. 3DMark 11 score of 3609 out of the box on fundamental efficiency setting. No driver updates, no OCing, actually out of the box. This is with an AMD 1090T and Asrock 890FX Deluxe4. The size of the card expected substantial rerouting of wires, and inventive use of adapters and extensions to get about it. If it was significantly larger Ƒǚ") it would be Dremel time. So check your clearances closely. But now my situation does look good and orderly, so not a horrible negative, just deferred maintenance. I have tested, but not tortured the card on Opensuse 11.4 and Fedora 14. Suse had difficulty with the Nvidia drivers, just recall that "nvidia-xconfig" is your friend when you boot to a command prompt and you're expecting a GUI. Fedora tries to load the noveau (sp?) driver by default, but the conversion course of action was painless and largely automatic. Of program it runs incredibly nicely under the ubiquitous 'doze 7.

So far, have set up my MSI card and it appears to work okay. I am not into games, so I am not trying it out for that. My old 8600 GTS was beginning to fade, so I wanted to replace it with a more existing one particular that wasn’t to high priced, but that also had much more power. I will be updating my motherboard in the near future and this will perform with it good. The instruction sheet, which is about 20 by 20 inches, has the exact same stuff written on each sides, with 16 languages on the sheet, being similar on each sides. English was a small written piece across the best, with words so tiny, it was hard to read. And, with no guidelines to show how to hook up anything. It was and is a waste of paper. Why not allow us to select a language, and also have much more guidelines such as how to hook the adapters, and insert the card, and so forth., and nonetheless, only use only ¼ the quantity of paper? My energy supply has only a single six pin plug, and so I employed one particular of the adapters integrated in my box, but I wasn’t certain how to hook it up. It had two molex plugs going to a single six pin plug. I ultimately realized that I had to use each molex plugs on the adapter, to hook up to two power molex plugs, to give me my other six pin plug. But there was no instructions to that impact. Was I supposed to hook up 1 or both? Logic told me to use each. To MSI… as an alternative of sending a 20 x 20 sheet with 16 languages, why not let us to opt for our language, and then consist of that instruction sheet in the box? This 20 x 20 sheet would carry a lot of directions, if you did that. A ten x 10 sheet would also perform, if each sides had been utilized and only a single language per sheet. Perhaps these sheets could be separate from the device and sent by the seller, soon after the client chooses the language. And it would help in cutting down the use of paper.

Comment:
Card seemed to have very good efficiency. Card arrived, I installed it on a method that met all the needs and had a fantastic sufficient power supply. Card quickly gave me pause, as it would emit brief, intermittent beeping immediately after windows first loaded. There are not BIOS POST beeps mind you, there are beeps coming from the card. I did some testing and figured out that the beeping only occured when the card was "cold" and they went away as card temperature rose. Concerned about this, I did some stability tests with Kombustor and identified that the card would get up to about 87 or 90C beneath load, which from what I gathered is WAY too hot for that card. I RMAd because I'd only bought the card a few days ago. I refuse to own a card that may fail on me within a couple of months. I am now waiting for a replacement from newegg. This genuinely sucks though, given that there's a 30 rebate I was hoping to get, but considering that I had to RMA the card, per MSI help's suggestion, I can\'t send them my UPC code for the rebate. Buyer beware. Would have been good if the card worked correctly. Would have also been great to be able to use the rebate. Resources online all advised RMAing the card if this problem popped up, so I did. Nevertheless, this tends to make me rather wary of buying more MSI goods in the future.
