Awesome!
Comment:
Purchased this because the Release Candidate was about to expire. Works great. Just not in a pretty package. I'm glad that I waited.

Pretty good.
Comment:
It is a visually beautiful operating system. It works smoothly and rather flawlessly. You can still crash it by trying to install software or hardware that is not made for anything above XP. It's much more automated than XP and you will have to relearn where everything is located in control panel and where Windows keeps all your stuff on the hard drive. (like the My Documents folder etc, buried under zillions of other meaningless folders)Very stable though, which is a plus. I enjoy using so far and look forward to a long time of uninterrupted service from it.

Stable, worthwhile investment

What Vista should have been. Thank goodness there's no need to downgrade on any new desktop or laptop purchase from now.

Great Product

I put this on a older 5 yr old machine. The 32 bit version. Works great for me. I put in a new video card and added a gig of ram. Would suggest at least 2 gigs of ram. I notice to get the games to work had to click on programs and Then click on turn features on or off and check the box.

Rock solid OS
Comment:
I'll give the 64 bit version of Windows 7 5 stars, but the 32 bit version is great for your average user. If you're a gamer and your hardware is compatible then I advise the 64 bit edition of windows 7.

Not Bad
Comment:
I upgraded my 6 year old PC from WinXPPro I like Win7, its nice, but I had some challenges installing on the older machine. I needed to search the internet (on another PC) and download some drivers in order to install Windows 7. Also some multi-user glitches, crashes, when more than one user is logged on. I wouldn't recommend for an older PC.

Works better than I thought it would
Comment:
I did not think any operating system could compare to windows XP but this one has so far. However it would come without any games!

Better than Vista, but not by much
Comment:
For PC users, this is a must--A big improvement over Vista, but I still like XP. WIN7 looks like a Mac OSX rip-off, and it acts like it too. However, it doesn't perform as well as OSX. Maybe next time, Microsoft will start from scratch and make something really special. Until then, you can find XP, use linux, or get a mac. This version is not the retail version, and you should have some experience installing software if you get this version, since you will need to do some configuration of your system prior to installation. However, if you're comfortable with installs with no frills and little help, get it--you'll save some money, and get just as good a product.

I built a new system and went to the 64 bit OS so I wouldn't later run into RAM limits of 4G. 64b Windows7 is working great

Microsoft Windows 7 Professional Edition 32BIT DVD OEM
Cons:Price could be slightly lower. I picked up Windows 7 Professional 64 on the student deal for $40.

Pros:The price was good at $170.97.

I bought this to install on my Thinkpad X60s. Nothing exciting to say other than Windows 7 is a big improvement over Windows Vista and worth the installation. This review was modfied by poster @ 12-26-09 02:52 PM

I love it. I never used Vista because of the bad word of mouth. However I loved XP. I thought XP had been the best Microsoft has had to offer until now. I am using the 32 bit version of 7 and it rocks on a PC I made, 2.6 GHz, 2gig DDR2, 500 GB HD, GeForce 8400gs that now runs like it was new. Finally!!!!

Not at all bad.
Comment:
Certainly superior to Vista. It is not the best, but it certainly is better than I expect from Microsoft. I am certainly willing to abandon XP for it. I think the organization is better than preceding Microsoft OS's. I am not real happy with the internet connection, but my situation is somewhat complex. I haven't used the backup enough to have an opinion, but it looks promising.

Ilike everything about Windows 7 Professional except no word processor, and they took away Hearts, Freecell, and Solitare all the games I like to play in Windows. Other than the games the Product is great so far

Hardware problems
Comment:
Using a few parts I had plus what was necessary to finish out a system and satisfy the new system requirements by the company I built a media center pc. The less than one year old video card and sound card as well as a brand new multi card reader were unacceptable to this operating system. I hope to overcome this by using the xp compatibility mode and virtual machine feature. However, the new wireless network card as well as the new wireless keyboard and mouse worked just fine. I would suggest checking with the compatibility list website before building anything, even if the parts are brand new. Some components simply will not work with this new operating system.
