Outstanding
Comment:
The hardest part of unstalling Windows 7 is getting it out of the box. I can't believe how much faster it makes any pc. |

Microsoft Windows 7 Professional Edition 32BIT DVD OEM
Cons:- Price should be a bit lower
Pros:- Much faster than XP on the same hadrware- Great UI Comment:
I love Windows 7 pro nad have used it since RC. I have upgraded several PCs in my home and home office, some to XP Home edition, some to XP Pro and it all works like charm.Windows 7 is much more responsive than XP and has a great UI with lots of shortcuts and improvements. MS has finally produced a great replacement for XP: fast, nice, more secure OS. This review was modfied by poster @ 10-29-09 10:44 AM |

Really Good Almost Great
Comment:
Full disclosure. I have been using the RC since May and really like it. In fact I liked it so much I stripped Vista off my laptop and installed the RC so I knew when the official release was out, I'd get it. The only thing I'm a bit disappointed in is that the performance isn't quite as fast as I had hoped but it's still good. Also, note that this release only contains the single install DVD for the 32 bit version. The retail versions contain both a 64 and 32 bit disk so you can choose. Here, you're stuck with what you buy. But the price here is about half of what you'll pay retail. Oh and the 64 bit version was late in shipping. My 64 bit version was on backorder until today. |
This is surely the product that was envisaged when Vista was in design stages. It works, stable so far (but does not play well with Symantec End Point Protection), performance is great, very nice interface, including a couple of cool new gimmicks in the way taskbars work and resizing windows. This is otherwise very similar to Vista (except that it works so I guess the main tweaks must be under the hood). For me, this was MS last chance before going with a Mac next time - and it's so far, so good, my PC is safe, and feels responsive, usable and there for my work (rather than for the OS) for the first time since XP SP3.
