Netgear WNDR3700 4 Port Gigabit Wireless N Dual Band Router
Cons:Network storage via USB is slow especially when deleting/moving large amounts of data, hard to see the symbols for the front panel LEDs, should have mounting holes on the bottom of the stand not just the back, only comes with one CAT 5e cable (would be nice to include another one for wired connections)
Pros:Excellent range, decent dl/ul speed using Shaw Extreme, doesn't drop connection, easy to navigate router settings page with good help section, attractive design, easy setup and easy to read ID stickers for pairing cables and ports, stays fairly cool despite minimal ventilation Comment:
So far it lives up to all the positive press and was a reasonable price relative to the features (after price match). I stayed away from NetGear for a long time after negative experiences with earlier products but they have definitely redeemed themselves. Can't say the same for the TrendNet TEW-652BRP that this replaced. It was an absolute piece of junk that constantly dropped its connection and their support was both unhelpful and really rude. |

Wonderful Capabilities - Per their listing. Wireless network started to fail since initial week of ownership. USB challenging drive interface is Incredibly slow over the network. Moving files is like watching the continents align, not to mention that they will commence disappearing if you do too quite a few factors at when. The factor has such unreliable performance that it sat in my closet for the last 6 months... I was going to have it RMAd, but after reading what other individuals have went through I won't even bother. As others have suggested:DO NOT Get THIS ROUTER |

Netgear WNDR3700 4 Port Gigabit Wireless N Dual Band Router
Cons:-Pretty expensive, so wait for a sale
Pros:-Keeps strong signal-One of the fastest routers out there Comment:
I bought this router for my apartment because I wanted something fast enough for streaming HD video on to my TV. The range is pretty amazing. There are concrete walls in my apartment and I still get a bar half-way down the hall, and full bars everywhere in my apartment (understandably, it is only 600 sqft). I had no issues setting up. If you want to get a router that will deliver the speeds you need and the range you need then this is the one you want. |

USB worked just fineLooks good There is a reason these are selling for a discount!See Other Thoughts... I have a 2Wire 2700HG-B wireless modem/router and I wanted to add this router for wireless-N / Gigabit / USB network storage. It seemed like a fantastic deal at 1st, until I basically tried to use it! The setup disk would not setup the router at all so I went to the manual setup; this wasn't an concern. The USB drive worked just fine and initially my printer connected just fine. Ok, so now began employing it and it worked just fine at initial. I leave my laptop on my side table and then come back and it has to connect everytime, properly, often I even have to reconnect manually to get the connection to come up...I By no means had this difficulty with just my 2Wire. I update firmware in the router and exact same issue. I update my wireless adapter driver and identical issue. I reset the router and finally get the setup disk to function and then I couldn't get my network printer to connect...oh yeah, and I still was getting disconnected. I'm tired of messing with this thing...it shouldn't be that tough to setup! |

Blazing speeds. Dependable connections. I had a linksys router and thought that rebooting the router when or twice a week was just what you had to do. Then I got this, the only time I reboot is when I'm messing with the settings It can't magically enhance my net speed I flashed dd-wrt on this so I could develop a vpn for my network. Wish it had vpn support built in but dd-wrt makes a great item even much better. Over a year owning this and I would suggest it to anybody. |

Cons:Slight Hiccup when dealing with non Computer Wireless devices. The complete and easy fix is discussed below
Pros:Great Coverage.Great Reliability.Ease of Use and Configuration.Switch off Button (if ever reset is needed).Settings retained after power off. Comment:
2 level house, Router on first floor, Rent out the ground floor, Everyone gets at least 3 bars internet signal, and router broadcast strength custom set to only 50%.2 months since purchase, one of my renters bought an Iphone (it looked like an Iphone it could be a Samsung or whatever). And the Internet connection kept failing once a day. The problem after much trial and error was isolated to the router's Encryption settings. The linksys "suggested" settings are very high resource demanding and they have some issues with these small portable devices. (Laptops worked fine). So I went into options and changed the encryption to good ole WEP. This still offers pretty good security, and you need a password to use the connection. Just not as advanced as the others.Been a month now, and no more issues. It's a great router. Buy it!!! |

Netgear WNDR3700 4 Port Gigabit Wireless N Dual Band Router
Cons:stock firmware is a little buggy, much better with the latest openwrt firmware release r26768
Pros:very strong wireless rangedual bandnas ability Comment:
bought this since i needed a strong signal being i am about 500 feet away from the router, I am using a engenius 600mw usb dongle combined with a 20 dbi pan antenna to get service. With the stock firmware my voip magicjack was breaking up all the time. Installed the latest openwrt build r26768 now i have a very stable signal and blazing fast webpage loading times. Speedtest returns a very constant 12mb per second with a 20/ 5 ping. At this range that speed is nothing short of fantastic. Very pleased with this router and my previous was a wrt400n with the latest ddwrt, so that says a lot. P.s netgear used an older openwrt build at the core of their firmware, so i felt much better about installing the latest build once i learnt that. |

Netgear WNDR3700 4 Port Gigabit Wireless N Dual Band Router
Cons:
2.4Ghz band goes down sometimes and I have to go to the settings to restart the radios (not the whole router, much faster)
Pros: 5Ghz band is awesome. Really fast, really stable. Lots of cool options. Comment:
Really great router overall. It's a real powerhouse, running 2 simultaneous networks (can run up to 4) at the same time, downloading, streaming multiple 720p videos, and gaming at the same time are no match. We've been downloading (25Mb/s down), and streaming 4 720p videos (2 wireless! 2 wired) off of our internal server with no slowdowns. The interface is really great too, it checks to see if there's a firmware update when you log in and auto installs it, and it has plain-English descriptions of all the settings for users who don't know much about it. We had a Linksys WRT310N and a WRT120N (both POS routers IMO) running the network and this router has replaced both and is MUCH better. |

Netgear WNDR3700 4 Port Gigabit Wireless N Dual Band Router
Cons:
Lack of option in the stock firmware
Pros: Good signal and speed, looks great. Comment:
I bought this router because my Dlink DGL 4300 gaming router was starting to randomly disconnect. I bought the WNDR3700 thinking I could install DD-WRT on it without a problem. After reading more about DD-WRT on that model it does not seem to be stable yet, so I went ahead and I tried the stock firmware. While the stock firmware will satisfy 95% of the users I was a bit disapointed in the options the router gave me. I have to admit I was looking at an affordable small business router and maybe I was expecting a bit too much from a home model. Note that I did not try the USB port and do not care too much about it.While the router has his problems I still have a great time with it. Wireless speed is ok for my needs (i did not play a lot with it but right now i'm at 5MB secs transfer rate, which is better than my other router) and the range seems to be great on both bands. I have a Synology server connected to my network and I did not have too much trouble setting it up and have remote access to my network. I do like the remote access option for the router, great idea.In the end this is a great home router but I would not recommended for business use. Lack of VPN options/Virtual Lan/security options/ Guest Network options/ average wireless speed is why I wouldn't choose this as a business router. While I might expect a bit too much from a 130$ this model used to be 200$ and i think those options should have been there. Will recommend for home or gaming use. |

Cons:
no problems so far
Pros: -Works great in crowded airspace-Stable-The Netgear firmware is decent. Comment:
I bought this to replace a Linksys WRT310 that just couldn't handle all the noise from other networks around my apartment (there are around 30 visible networks). Having the 3700 is such a relief! It works perfectly for browsing and streaming to the tv. |

Netgear WNDR3700 4 Port Gigabit Wireless N Dual Band Router
Cons:
Like the WD 2TB drive, sadly also did not come with free chocolate.
Pros: The best router on the market. Comment:
All the reviews that proclaim this as the best of the current-generation 802.11N gigabit routers don't lie; it really is fantastic. Setup was a snap and it's been running without a single problem, which is more than I can say for my aged old WRT54GL. Wireless reception is very good, even in the 5GHz band (which has a shorter range than 2.4GHz). Being able to specify separate SSIDs for guest networks on both bands is very nice. Definitely the best router on the consumer market; pick one up on sale. |

Cons:
pricy, somewhat lacking access control
Pros: Gigabit, USB port sharing, guest SSID, dual band Comment:
This thing has been voted best router by many places I've done my research and the speeds don't disappoint. I don't have any devices yet which work on the 5ghz band but I bought this to future proof myself somewhat. Look very attractive and the speeds are unbeatable. |

Cons:
The second band in "Dual Band" is 5GHz ONLY!Very poor access restriction controls
Pros: Gigabit.Guest SSID's Comment:
WarningThe second band in "Dual Band" is 5GHz ONLY! How many wifi cards are there that are 5GHz huh?WarningThe access restriction controls are very poor. No blocking by MAC address. (You have to set a DHCP reservation and then block by IP) No multiple schedules. (you cant lock at different times on different days and you cant set up different restrictions for different devices. Very Poor.) My old linksys WRT54G was MUCH better in this reguard. Both these shortcomings severly limit the usefulness of this router in my enviroment. Due to this I would not buy it again. |

Cons:
Draft 802.11Nno interchangeable antenna
Pros: Gigabit WAN+LANBuilt-in Firmware updatesstandard default 192.168.1.1 addressVery High Throughput Comment:
Purchased this router through tigerdirect.ca when it was first released since all other stores were back-ordered or unavailable (would have much preferred NCIX!).so far this router is rock solid except for 1 overload instance, had to actually physically disconnect the cables for some odd reason.incredibly fast wireless, WAN+LAN gigabyte and all with having a very slick design makes this very desireable. Not having interchangeable sockets for antenna's could be a drawback, but it makes up for it by having build in antenna's in the frame(so no ugly awkward fixed antenna's).also uses 192.168.1.1 default address rather then an odd 192.168.10.1 or 192.168.0.1, may not be a big deal but was very nice not having to change any addresses in my network since i was replacing a Linksys WRT54G.Overall very good router highly recommend. |

Netgear WNDR3700 4 Port Gigabit Wireless N Dual Band Router
Cons:
price
Pros: ease of use, simultaneous dual bands, appearance Comment:
A little expensive but well worth it in my opinion. It has been rock solid stable since I got it. Excellent range on both the 2.4ghz and 5ghz bands. Automatically checks for firmware updates when you log in as admin. Setup was easy. If you know your way around a router you can skip using the setup wizard and just configure it manually. I haven't used the usb nas port yet so I can't comment on that. A full featured router that I am very happy with. |

Pros: Multi-lingual web interface - Gigabit networking Comment:
A rock solid router compared to the other vendor offerings. Web configuration interface is very neats and precise. Sections are very well laid out. Dual-band configuration is extremely easy. Guest network configuration might be tricky. |

First router I've purchased that I didn't need to install dd-wrt or tomato, so far, has worked great out of the box. QoS works well enough for me.
