Comment:
It performs and it has a modest form aspect adapter. No classic anti-static bag. This issues performs great, purchased a motherboard board and the constructed in NIC kept failing. Tried anything I could feel of to get it to work and lastly decided to plug this in and haven't had a dilemma with it since then.

None. Oh, wait,... right here's 1,... These cards will give you an opportunity to rebuild your pc system. Purchased two of these. The first a single blew up two motherboards. Yep. Plugged it in the initial motherboard, and suddenly the previously working technique would not even POST. No, it didn't get greater with removing the card. The MB is dead. Figured I'd had a static discharge. But when I plugged it in the second previously operating method and the identical thing happened, I knew it was this card. If you'd told me that adding a PCI card could blow up a motherboard, I would not have believed it till now. No, I didn't attempt the second a single -- I'm rapidly running out of computers. Don't they test these issues at all ahead of shipping them? Guess not. Retain some old clunker around to verify Rosewill cards before putting them in something you care about. Or give them as gifts to men and women you don't like. "Hey buddy, sorry about all these things I said about you. Here, lemme' give you an ethernet card to make up for it." Manufacturer Response:Dear Valued Consumer,We are sorry for the inconvenience this may well have triggered you. We try to supply the most trustworthy products to our buyers. Rosewill RC-400 PCI Gigabit Ethernet Card
Comment:
Low-cost. It doesn't perform with FreeBSD v7.three (FreeNAS), and a By way of EPIA M10000 Motherboard. It locks up the OS each and every time. The manual is worthless. It is three pages lengthy and tells you to "turn your pc off, install the card, turn your pc on". Really?!? Nothing about installing drivers. Absolutely nothing about static discharge when installing cards into PCs. There isn't even a image of the card (or the added heat sink - see beneath) The manual is worthless and shouldn't even be named a manual. I could write a much better 1 in 10 minutes or much less. So, Rosewill, are you telling me that you couldn't invest a whopping 10 minutes on some documentation? Good. The card comes with a heat sink for the processor of the card. Unfortunately, unless you know which "chip" on the card is the one particular that gets hot, you won't know exactly where to place the heat sink. Even the photo on the box doesn't show the heat sink installed. After reading the lousy manual, and surfing the net for info, I lastly located a image of the card on Rosewill's website showing the heat sink installed. Manufacturer Response:Dear Valued Consumer,Thank you extremely substantially for acquire the RC-400. We strive to present the most reputable and highest high quality items to our consumers. The difficulty may possibly be caused by a driver issue and is causing the OS to lock up. Please update the drivers to the most up-to-date ones from our web page. Comment:
Affordable. A lot of excellent critiques on Newegg. Driver CD included. False economy. Does not perform as 1GB. Non existent support from Rosewill. I failed to heed the unfavorable evaluations even though they are a minority. This NIC ought to have worked proper out of the box in a Windows machine. I have tried drivers from the enclosed CD, drivers from the Rosewill website, and from Realtec with no results. It functions only as a ten럼 NIC which I have dozens of. I tried it in a Linux box but the Rosewill documentation is poor at very best and could only get 100MB there as properly. When I took my case to Rosewill through their website I have however to obtain the courtesy of a reply in pretty much two weeks.Newegg shipped it in almost record time and deserve five Eggs for all they do. This, nonetheless, is not a Newegg problem but a Rosewill failure to provide a good product and even a small degree of assistance.Suggestion: Spend a few a lot more dollars and get a single that functions as advertised. Manufacturer Response:Dear Valued Client,We are sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused you. We try to provide the most dependable products to our consumers. In order get get Gigabit speeds, you will want four aspects involved. You will want to have a Gb switch, a CAT 6 ethernet cable, and a Gb NIC. Also from time to time the laptop or computer itself will slow down the connection based on its speed and resources. If you are nevertheless getting troubles please give us a call at 800-575-9885 so we could additional assist you. It can move lots of information, Just before I bought a new wireless router I was living in an ten럼Mbps network, now im up to 1Gbps and loving it, the bandwidth enables me to store everything on a single large central server and getting in a position to access it with ease. Installed Fine on Vista Small business x64 but had trouble installing it on my XP Pro x86 machine, but it was likely the old install of xp. Great card with fantastic bandwidth for only ű.99

Windows 7 plug-and-play. Handles Gigabit fine. Low profile ready (mine is installed in a HTPC) Clear LED indicators. Considerably more affordable than the "leading brand" and can't see any distinction in performance. In truth, my on-board adapter never ever worked correctly from day one particular so it's essentially greater in my encounter. If I might nitpick, what's with the "optional" heat sink? Okay, if it's not required then don't ship it. If it IS required, for crying out loud, ship it installed with some decent thermal paste. Don't ship it "optional" with some cheesy double-sided tape attached. Fairly lame and in my opinion it defeats the objective of getting it in the initially spot. It WAS only ฟ and it seems to operate fine with no the heat sink. Nevertheless nicely worth the value. I just consider the heat sink is lame. I read some reviews where individuals seriously like the thought of an optional heat sink so it goes to show that you can't please every person. NIC performs fine with out the heat sink so it's a nitpick and not a efficiency problem. Not enough to dock and egg.

Simple card to install. Applied to replace old cards on Vista and XP machines. Fired appropriate up and identified the drivers. Good to not have to go on a round the world search for drivers. None Added heat sink included. Has not been important on the machines I utilised it on. Possibly helpful on a server?

Little footprint, incredibly inexpensive, plug and play Vista and Ubuntu Hardy. Significantly decreased the time necessary to transfer my HD videos from server to workstation. wish it was ten gigabit.... Be careful when judging your throughput. Don\'t forget that when you add a rapidly Ethernet device to a ten럼񲿘 network your setup will be dumbed down to only 10럼.

Cheap Gigabit NIC. Installed easily. My BSD based FreeNAS system had it up and running with no any messing around. Got two and place another on an XP technique, installed drivers and away it goes. Low cost and easy. Haven't gotten my entire wired network up to Gigabit but, and with 10럼 file transfers this card seems a tiny slower and less trustworthy than the old Netgear card I swapped out for it on my NAS. Hopefully finding a Gigabit switch and Cat6 cabling will make me forget about quibbling over the minor ups and downs in transfers on this card.

Of course the cost is a major factor and the way Newegg stands behind the items they sell si the greatest!. Uncomplicated to drop in and transform the driver. Seems I got about a 50% enhance in speed compared to the on-board input. Following obtaining the memory to max and a handful of other tweeks, this was the next step. So now the idea of a PCI video card is in order. None except for the limited documentation with the card. With an older Dell 4700 a good inexpensive selection Wish I would have ordered two a lot more units. One for my Grandson's Dell and a single for a backup. Hindsight has such great vision.

Straightforward to install, straightforward to configure, worked fine for a while. Right after working with the card for a quantity of months I have started having troubles with the card. I am experiencing dropped network connections off and on all day. It is just a momentary drop but it is adequate to irritate me to no end. I haven't tried one more cat 6 cable as it could be a loose connection. Nonetheless, the connection is rock solid on the 100 mbs nic card employing the exact same cable so I don't consider it is cable connected. Not much great if it doesn't perform longer than it has for me.
