it functions. plug'n'play. just more than a year later and no trouble i can't fill it up now matter how challenging i try.....(joke con) bought this when i got the free docking station. gave it to a family members member who likes to move in between two distinct residence computers and a laptop. yeah, they love it.

It seems quiet enough sitting in the NAS. Noticable difference in speed from older 1.five Gb/s drive employing outdated NAS firmware. Operating in a 100Mb/s NAS so I cannot genuinely appreicate the full power of the drive. Fantastic $/Gb ratio

A breath of fresh air compared to the cemetery of Seagates and Western digital drives I have laying about. Incredibly pleased with use so far. Worked fine in P5WD2- E PREMIUM with out a hitch in Thermaltake armor case. I need to have bought F4 series but very pleased with F3. Need to have bought a lengthy time ago. After years of wasting time on continuously defective Seagate & Western Digital drives I am glad I made the switch. Newegg has been fantastic but support from Seagate and Western Digital is what produced me switch.

- A ton of hard drive space- Uncomplicated to install- Simple to format and partition- Started up on boot- Essentially plug and play ready- $/GB is unmatched- Rapidly, quickly, quick for a incredibly huge sized hdd - Samsung brand to me isn't a preferred, and there are greater brands out there, particularly when it comes to hard drives but the Spinpoint series is absolutely a clear winner. The Spinpoint F3 is usually on sale for โ, many unique occasions already on Newegg.com. I passed it up the very first time but I couldn't pass it up the second time. You'd be surprised how fast you go by way of 1TB of space. And this is coming from someone who doesn't even record videos and download a lot of movies, videos, and so on. Cant give it any kudos, It came DOA and seeking at the number of 1 eggs I need to have figured, but I was optimistic. Did some swaps with this drive in a older CPU and it wouldn't show... but the SATA out of old system showed up in each new and old method. Sent it back and I am going with yet another drive. Dead as a door nail on arrival, my 1st and last experience with Samsung...sorry to say. I stick with WD or Corsair. I have found by adding the 5 egg + four egg, you really should come out with 88% rating or far better. Then for three-1 egg must be proportionally distributed (ie. four-5% per) and if 1 egg is 8% or additional..just keep looking for one thing else.

1st time developing a laptop or computer, let alone a gaming personal computer. I have a 128GB SSD as the boot drive and utilizing these two Samsung drives in RAID1 configuration for storing all my information. none I learned that you have to set the motherboard configuration to RAID mode Before you install Windows 7. Of course I learned that following the reality, so had to reset and reinstall. Oh well, drives still operating as anticipated.

Cheap!!! I purchased two and they are quiet and cool. Both are in an external docking station and work perfectly. None I'm receiving a transfer speed of about 63MB/second with these drives in a USB3 docking station.

Yeah, it's pretty quick and didn't come DOA. A lot of space, no challenge with file transfers or installing an OS on it. It could just be that my case is mostly steel grates 黲 II Advanced) but the HDD is generally the loudest component if I'm not playing a game and the GPU roars more than it. Type of sounds like low grinding a lot of the time if it's doing something. Appears to work fine although, just my two cents. WOOO!! 1TB!!

I've purchased about a dozen of these drives. I run them via a burn-in test before I use them in production environments and they typically pass. I have had better luck with these 1TB drives than others.They work in RAID 5 systems. none actually. In regards to the comment a few down from this one. The Samsung net web page does not have any reference to this difficult drive mainly because Samsung has a distinct internet web page for their internal tough drives. Quiet, cool, rapidly None that I can find It does what it's supposed to with little fuse and quietly. I have two of these in external enclosures and use them for backup and as extra storage for music and videos. They don't seem to make a lot of heat, which is nice. As soon as of my enclosures does not have a fan and it states nice and cool. The other enclosure does have a fan and it rarely comes on.

I put two of these babies in a RAID on my AsRock M3A770DE with a fresh install of Win 7 x64 - and proceeded to run HD Tune when she booted up. The result was a 272.7 MB/s Max read with a 250.6 MB/s typical!! 鴅.3 MB/s Minimum)Burst rate: 206 MB/sAccess Time: 11.1 msDrives are super quiet, I can hardly hear them over my case fans which are all on low. My laptop or computer is way faster now - this was my very first RAID and boy am I glad I went this route! Load times noticeably improved when booting, loading Photoshop CS5, Starcraft II, etc...Absolutely the way to go if you want performance and aren't willing to give up the space, or invest the money on SSD's but.Drives run nice n' cool in my Antec 300 case. The 9 to 14 ms response times I get aren't stellar but that is to be expected from ANY mechanical drive on the marketplace appropriate now. This isn't really a "con" so considerably as a limitation of mechanical drives in my eyes... If you want the greatest of the finest, go SSD. If you want a darn quick drive and are a normal PC user, this is the drive for you! And if you're like me, and want performance on the affordable, ɛ RAID ɛ These drives seem nicely built, if I have any problems I'll update here. Keep in mind with bare drives to acquire SATA cables!

Not as costly as competing drives, quiet, rapidly, 1 TB Not 1 so far I bought this drive to be my storage drive whilst I run the OS off of a 128GB SSD. My SSD turned out defective so as I waited for the RMA process, I installed Win 7 on the Samsung. It surprised me with its speed and quiet running. Its a rarity when i hear it. My rig sits on the workstation and approx 1 foot away from my head, so if it was a thrasher, I would definately know it. Excellent drive at a superb price with excellant size..get it!

when I initial put this hdd in my technique it formated ok then Xp could not see it nor was it detected in bios so I took the plunge and installed Windows 7 and all is fine being an ancient fellow the eyes aint what they employed to be and the directions are on a minute scrap of paper with even much more minute printing. this was a minor inconvenience as I found them on the web quickly /quiet/stays cool/loads of space(sure I'll use it)

Greatest 5400 rpm drive on the marketplace, configured in a 8 bay NAS running Raid 60, it's quite very quiet and incredibly rapidly. I'm using an LSI raid controller and with the raid configured to 60 I'm seeing writes around 325 Mbs over a Gig E network, read are about 395Mbs. extremely low price on sale for ๟.00 each. Have a total of 12TB storage and boy do I enjoy it for my HTPC streaming media / Itunes / Blue ray playback. NONE Will purchase F3 any day Adore these drives

Trouble no cost RAID five setup. Transfer speeds are surprisingly speedy (NOT Quickly, but decent). Showing 1.81GB in RAID five under Win 7 Pro (integrated IMS) None truly. Unless one fails here soon. None.

I've owned many drives from all the major manufacturers and I can say without a doubt that Samsung make the best drives.I've been running 5 Samsung drives for the last 3 years now and haven't had a hiccup.You can't go wrong here.
