The drive does make an audible, yet whisper soft, sound when it's in use. Under high disk activity, one does hear the disk heads move faster, but the sound level stays about the same.Overall it's faster than a Western Digital Raptor (not Velociraptor). If only one task is running like opening an application or a game is loading a map, the Spinpoint and Raptor perform similarly. However, when multiple tasks are executed, the Spinpoint is faster and more responsive. The Raptor sounds like it's really straining under the demand. |

This HD is one of the quickest if not the quickest 7200 RPM you can find on the market. Samsung's hard drive can be compare with some low-end SSD which make this item an excellent quality/price product. If you see it in special and you are looking for an hard drive, take it. You won't have any regrets. |

Pros: I have 2 of these in Raid 0 running smooth as silk. Low Temps on these drives , 9 deg c lower then Western Digital Caviar Black WD7501AALS 750GB. Samsung has done it again. Comment:

Pros: This drive is very fast, I had one in my Server as the OS+Storage drive and the one I purchased from NCIX I have put in my Server. Comment:
Overall this hard drive is superb, very high throughput and quiet. I definitely recommend it. It would have been nice to have a 5 year warranty but 3 years is the industry standard now. Paid 79.99 after a price match. |

Have 4 in raid 5 on a dell perc 5/i raid card. So far I havent ran in to a single problem. One of the best drives out right now for all round price/performance/noise/power. Check out the review on tomshardware for some detailed specs. |
Got for 72 price matched. Good speed and transfer rates, but not as fast as caviar black HDD. Relatively quiet except when seeking.
