I installed this card with no challenges. I made a RAID container when was really uncomplicated to do. Then I downloaded the drivers from Syba's web site from a laptop and place them on a 3.5" disk for use when installing a fresh copy of WinXP. More than all it went properly through the set up and so on in to use of Windows XP. I installed HDTach and discovered the two WD SATA drives I was using came in to "par" with other setups. After about 15 or so boot ups Windows XP would hang following the drivers were loaded. I believed this was just some goof up with windows and reloaded my method from scrach. The second time around it died the exact same way after about 10-15 bootups. So then I believed I had a bad install CD or SATA drives. I checked each drives and I even picked up a brand new WinXP CD from storage.. blam very same dilemma once more. I also took out my Creative sound card for troubleshooting. The only factor I can hyperlink the challenges to would be this card. Syba may possibly work for you but next time i'm going to devote far more to go with a trusted name in controllers.

I was unable to make my new Western Digital RED 3TB disk on an old P4 Windows Server 2008 system because Asus was not releasing new drivers for my motherboard. This card solved my problem. But you need drivers to make it work (avalaible on CD or on Silicone Image website). You also need to inject SATA drivers in your WinPE or OSD WIM images.

Performs as intended, a 2 port SATA RAID Controller. It's at present operating two WD 80gb SATA 1.five drives in RAID- None so far I had an Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe motherboard that also utilised the exact same Silicon Image SiI 3112 SATA RAID controller that's on this PCI card. I used that great mobo for 6+ years till it blew up a handful of months ago. I got so comfortable with it that I forgot to routinely backup the RAID- drives on it.Soon after reading many forums that stated I had to use the similar RAID controller to get the data off my RAID- drives, I decided to try this SYBA card. Not several testimonials here mentioned they attempted it in RAID, and many much more said that the card didn't even perform at all with the RAID BIOS loaded. I guess I got fortunate.I popped it in an additional Pc, it booted up with the RAID BIOS Ɣ.2.83) already on the card and it recognised my two WD 80gb drives already in RAID- on the card's boot screen. XP-32bit also recogised the RAID- partitions immediately after I loaded the SiI 3112 drivers Ƒ..62) from Silicon Image's internet site.

Was actually low-priced (got open box 1). Painless installation. Installed in an old P3 HP server that had only PATA ports. When I booted, it recognized tough drives right away. Employing in a server application on openSuSe 11.3. Set up as computer software raid 1 employing two 500gb drives. openSuSe recognized drives immediately permitted me to raid them, mount them, and format them. Server runs 24ǝ so has been up for virtually a week with no complications. none that I can see appropriate now.

This worth far more than it price. You truly don't loose something for the cost and get good overall performance on this card. Installation is straightforward. At least for me. This is what I do for a living. The only issue I had was it did not work on the pci close to the AGP card, but I just moved it to yet another pci and it was detected. I have to say this card on my mainboard won't let my system boot unless I do a full shut down so a restart will just hang on sata card detection, but I consider is my mailboard since I had other difficulties with it. none

Works properly with my Seagate 250 GB SATA150 drive. I haven't experienced any of the troubles the other reviewers have had. If you want to install Windows without having a floppy drive, you'll have to slipstream the drivers to your CD. Very good, low-cost answer for a board without having onboard SATA.

Inexpensive, compact, and comes with a SATA cable. Makes use of the popular SI3112 chipset, which has XP, Vista, and Windows 7 drivers. Doesn't come an adapter to convert old-fashioned molex connectors to SATA; this need to be purchased separately. I've employed mine in many various Dells, initial a 4550, then a 3000, and now a 2350. I utilised a single of these cards to upgrade a 2350 from 80gb IDE and CD-ROM to 300gb SATA and BD-ROM. This card can be of excellent help when cloning a Windows installation more than to an additional machine. Just before the clone, set up 1 of these cards in the supply machine and install the drivers. Then execute the clone and move the card to the target machine and attach the new drive to it. Windows can then boot and the plug 'n' play subsystem can update the chipset drivers for the target machine, soon after which the Syba can be removed.

Inexpensive, quick (when operating) My laptop or computer, commonly stable, started locking up with heavy hard drive use as soon as I installed this card. The drive temperature is fine. Like I said, despite standard temperatures, this card seems to be causing at least 1 lock up per day.

I purchased a rosewill 1 prior to this in the similar low-cost price tag range and it was a total disaster, this a single did its job, I just necessary two more sata ports for 2 dvd burners. Performs fantastic had it going handful of months now. Lost the manual and when I formatted and had to reinstall the driver I had no notion which 1 it was on the disc, NOWHERE on the box or card itself does it tell you what driver it desires, none match the model quantity. After a lucky very first try I did guess it although. Dont shed your guidelines.

Very good price and rapid shipping from Newegg. As for the manufacturer, it does what it says and hasn't wrecked my data hence far, but I haven't tried the RAID feature or booting off of it even though. A LOT of messing about with to make it perform appropriately as a typical SATA controller for added storage, small to no tech help. I sooner or later found the answers I needed right here in the NewEgg reviews. I'm employing a Via Chipset MB with Athalon CPU and XP SP3. When I 1st installed the card it would read as a RAID controller but no drivers off the CD or any of the chipset manufacturer's (Silicon Image) or distributor's (Syba) assistance sites worked. I ended up acquiring drivers from the Microsoft Update web page which wasn't straightforward to navigate but did work... until I powered down, plugged in the new HD & restarted. Then I had the dilemma of it not letting me install drivers with a HD plugged in, and I had to reinstall drivers each restart. I applied the tips of Walter W. who recommended rolling back the controller's BIOS to 4.three.70 from the Silicon Image web page. This worked like a charm and now it seems to be functioning generally. If you're searching to just add some low cost SATA1 storage, I'd go with the Syba that has a By way of Chipset. (also very good for modding X-boxes) These drivers had been instantaneously recognized and so was the drive, with no concerns. If you need to have RAID or need it to be bootable, save your self the difficulty of dealing with this affordable card with no support and invest a couple of a lot more dollars on something much better. Even though I ultimately got it operating, it seriously wasn't worth the four+ hours I spent tracking down and trying every driver on the internet. I bought this due to the fact of the capacity to boot off it, and I haven't run into any other true troubles now that its working, but after dealing with the install method I'm not so certain I want to trust this card to manage the difficult drive that is operating my operating system. Lastly, huge thanks Walt and other reviewers for providing better tech assistance than the manufacturer and distributor combined!

Inexpensive. Mfg. product spec sheet shows Mac logo. Came with CD with drivers for whole product line. Some has Mac drivers, but not this card. Attempted plug-and-play but not recognized by technique profiler. This card uses SIL3112 chipset from Silicon Image.. Bought for Mac so don't know how it performs in Windows. If anyone finds a mac driver for this, please post.

Inexpensive, if your time is worth nothing at all. If you are adding SATA to an current personal computer, don't even consider about this card - the conflicts are too quite a few to mention, and it took me a good four hours to get this to operate (win xp /sp1a). Nero, Alcohol 120%, windvd all get in the way. Bite the bullet and get a new motherboard that supports SATA, or go with a reliable brand like Pxxxise if you don't like frustration.

Super Cheap, Linux compatable, low cost, realiable, inexpensive The internal bios in the card quit working right after a couple months. So I couldn't reformat the HD through the bios, but I never did it that way anyways. This card works with Linux, it's never ever had any difficulties (other than bios) that mattered. It's worked flawlessly more than the two years I'ved applied it in my arch box. Unless you will need SATA2, this card does the job it wants to do.
