Comment:
Straightforward to install and works properly. panel lights and sound all function nicely with the single SATA connection none Following replacing an old IDE CD-writer, on boot, an error message appeared about the "primary master drive ATAPI incompatible." Had to hit F-1 and booting continued. This was due to the fact that there had been no a lot more IDE drives. Had to alter the BIOS for IDE drives to "non-installed", and the error message went away.

Does specifically what it says. Not seriously a con, but it doesn't come with a power cable. This is fine if your power provide has SATA connections, but I had to acquire an adapter to get from the old 4-prong power connector to the SATA connector on the SATA drive.

Cheap Screwed up MoBo beyond repair. Now I have to get a new 1 and a new card. Honestly, with a product with this a lot of bad reviews, don't get it. I've gotten other products from SYBA and they all work fine. I have no concept why so many peole are having troubles with this but for some reason it isn't operating.

Works with my 500gb external Maxtor OneTouch 4 that went bad.Effortless enough to install and the software recognized it with no any problem. Doesn't have external sata port,so fundamentally it has a metal plate on the outside. My 500gb external Maxtor OneTouch four went poor and I opened it up and attempted with other external drives but absolutely nothing worked. Then I believed to give a try to internal sata card and now I have 500gb internal HD rather of external.

Inexpensive SATA card. I put one in every of my Freenas filers and they both are spontaneously rebooting with DMA timeout errors. It only takes place under heavy load and will cause data loss. These cards use the SiL 3112 chipset. If you search the internet you will discover a lot of individuals having these difficulties with Freenas and FreeBSD. Maybe it works fine in Windows or other OS.

It's inexpensive. I'm confident it works properly with Windows based systems. It wasn't compatible with FreeNAS (FreeBSD). It kept on dropping drives. I returned it for a TX4 instead. The TX4 is far more high-priced but works. Manufacturer Response:Dear Customer,Thank you for purchasing our item. Please update your kernel to newest stable version. The Silicon Image Sil 3X12 should be embedded in the recent kernel. All of our merchandise come with at least three years warranty. With 2 SATA drive in RAID gives about 65MB/S Read 85MB/S Write, I have a SIL3114 onboard adapter and when I connected HDD to this SIL3112 adapter the RAID0 worked without having reconstructing the raid set, so it is great to have a arround as a backup in case MB fails. Had to upgrade linux kernel two.6 for the card to be recognized. none, considering the cost, simple setup , compatible with linux kernel

After messing around with drivers for endless hours, finally this began to work with a fresh install of windows XP home on a brand new SATA tough drive, as well as taking on a brand new DVD/CD combo burner. The non-raid function drivers don't appear to function for a fresh install of windows. Rosewill doesn't have an on-line manual for this specific card, but ironically they have driver updates. Don't waste your time with those although, I identified them less than valuable. If you get this and have troubles with the windows setup not recognizing a SATA hard drive connected to it, attempt employing the RAID drivers even if you aren't operating an actual raid.

I've used this in a Shuttle PC file server for about two years, never had a single difficulty with it, certainly a workhorse. Right after it was retired from server work, I can't seem to come across a linux driver that would support this card, but the manufacture claims "linux is supported." Even the newest build of mandriva 2007 doesn't function with it. List where to get linux driver in the manual if you're going to list linux assistance as a "feature"

.. HDD drive activity LED header pins .. smartctl; misreports all of Channel as Channel 1 drive, even though Windows and JavaRAID report the two attached drives properly... smartctl: unable to access Intelligent error/self test logs.. JavaRAID utility reports Wise data as raw hex values, no interpretation.. JavaRAID configuration data dump fails to report HDD model string.. JavaRAID configuration information dump misreports time stamp (behind an hour).. drivers on Utility and Driver CD are significantly newer than drivers offered from Syba download web-site 񢉗 vs. 2003, bzw.) This Syba board had some anomalous behavior, either due to defective Windows drivers or non-normal SATA channel signalling. Most crippling was its inability to report out on much more than 1 attached HDD. When two HDDs had been attached, it reported the same drive information for each HDDS (in this case, the HDD on Channel 1 when Channel was getting queried). Another Syba board, the SATA2ɦIR has the identical difficulty: even although it has four ports, it can only report out correct Wise data for one of them. In addition, there were numerous 'fit and finish' concerns with the JavaRAID utility, and with the lack of existing drivers on the Syba net site, that appear to indicate that this is an (unannounced) end-of-life item. My regular for Host Bus Adapters (HBAs) that connect SATA drives to IDE/PATA motherboards is that they conform to ATA/SATA Smart signaling. Motherbards with SATA ports perform with smartmontools to report out all the drive's Smart information, which includes its error and self-test log

Card was used in my Windows 2K server for a JBOD 250 gig drive. Not working with the RAID on this card, but it works fine as SATA cards go. None that I can see except numerous complaints I have read about the chipset they use. This would most likely function excellent for an individual whose MOBO with the Si3112 chip died, and they need to access their RAID from another technique.

Very low-cost; PnP if getting used as an add-on drive (OS already installed); comes with SATA cable. Sporadic data corruption when transferring huge (> 100MB) files. Use with caution. If buying this controller, make certain that you have backups and do not use this for your sole, primary copy of anything that you worth.Or far better but, don't purchase this. Get something with far better critiques and avoid anything that has issues with data corruption. I see I'm not the only one.

Windows 7 did locate the RAID drivers quickly but I had to use the CD Will not boot past the BIOS when SATA drive is plugged in.When I initial installed the card and left the hdd not connected, windows located the files to install the drivers on the CD. When I connected the hdd and tried to start off the personal computer, I could not get past the bios when it prompted me to enter the raid utility. I have tried this many ways and even updating my bios with no luck. Perhaps the company can assist. Manufacturer Response:Dear Consumer,Thank you for purchasing our goods. Please make positive that you insert the card in PCI slot that is not sharing IRQ or resources. can't beat the price! takes much more force than it need to installing the card onto pci slot -- a hard fit. I utilised the card to install a maxtor 300gb drive for storage. The instructions are fairly very good overall. I identified out that it did make a distinction on which slot to install the drive -- Windows XP would not boot properly on slotŔ", but when I switched it over to slot ŕ" it worked fine.Overall, excellent price for a good card.

Low-price, basic layout with two ports, bought it from newegg, and works just fine. For non RAID Ǘ, clean install - you have to flash the BIOS, rolling it back does the trick. Flashing it from 4.3.79 to 4.three.70 for windows xp drive detection method (of course after F6, driver loading) Thank you to Walter W. assessment, that was right on the income. I was going to flash the BIOS by acquiring the most recent BIOS, but tryed Walter's Trick 1st. It worked so I'll stick with that. I'm installing this add on card on a older AMD XP program with IDE HDD support, switched it to SATA HDD. Right after the Bios flash, Windows XP was able to detect the drive in the course of setup and installed successfully. Package comes with one SATA cable only, I guess that works if you already have a spare SATA cable.

Fits in the PCI slot, boots correctly, detects disks attached, included SATA cable, was fairly effortless to upgrade/downgrade firmware, supported by FreeNAS. With moderate to excessive access of the disk attached to this adaptor the computer system would spontaneously reboot. Was not able to adjust my Hitachi drive's settings utilizing Hitachi software program while connected to this adaptor, Had to use a machine with onboard SATA. I'm making use of this in conjunction with the Hitachi 1TB for sale perfect now in a FreeNAS machine. I tested this card with many firmware updates and downgrades. I tried various PCI slots in 3 distinct computers. I restricted my HDD to SATA1.5 and attempted enabling and disabling just about every obtainable choice. I tested a few unique versions of FreeNAS. Looks like a fine adaptor but I picked a poor combination. Manufacturer Response:Dear Customer,Thank you for buying our item. Please attempt the card on a various PCI slot to avoid conflicts. If you do not want to use the RAID capabilities, you can flash the card BIOS to non-RAID. All of our products come with at least three years warranty. Low price. Effortless installation (see other thoughts) and setup. Came with only 1 SATA cable. No molex-to-SATA power cable included. (Hey what do you expect for a RAID card at this cost?) This 2 port SATA-RAID card does what it supposed to do. It is a fanatastic deal for those that need to have a couple of SATA ports. Installation / Setup was a breeze since I was adding two mirrored drives to a method and not installing a fresh copy of Windows XP.If installing a fresh copy of Windows, I can see where it may well be a minor inconvenience. You want to copy the drivers from the CD (or web page) to a floppy disk first. Other than that, the card's BIOS is really intuitive.Haven't tried replacing / rebuilding a failed drive so I can't comment on that (hope I in no way have to).

Affordable Card is not recognized and will not install effectively. Drivers will NOT install from either the supplied CD or ones downloaded from chip Mfg. internet site. I bought this card to install it on a new build of a P4 based server running Microsoft's Windows Home Server O/S.I purchased a new older Asus P4B 478 socket board, and am utilizing an on hand Intel P4 1.6Ghz CPU and 512 MB Corsair DDR. I bought a new 640 GB WD SATA drive (from Newegg) for its primary storage. It is not extremely complecated project and, the Syba card even supplies limited directions for a "new" install for Windows Server 2003 which is the core of my new WHS O/S. No reason for the card not to install very easily as directed. Soon after struggling for days with numerous install possibilities I finally installed the card into 1 of my newer computers running Vista and it was not even recoginized a "New Hardware. So I rebooted to an XP Pro partition and still no recognition. 1 by no means appears to recognize you typically get what you pay for. By the time I paid for shipping, return RMA shipping and then shipping for the replacement I could have just ordered a card with far more "PROMI$E" Manufacturer Response:Dear Customer, Thank you for buying our goods.
