Syba SD-CM-UAUD USB Stereo Audio Adapter
Cons:Fat and can take up more than one usb port

Pros:No drivers required
Comment:
I bought this along with a cheap one ear head set for online gaming. When it arrived all i had to do was plug the head set into it and plug it into the computer. It required no drivers and works perfectly. Depending on your computer though it can take up the usb port beside it because of it's fatness.

Syba SD-CM-UAUD USB Stereo Audio Adapter
Cons:Needs a flexable USB extension to use on front of computer around kids.Maby back as well, being it's attached to fought over headphones.

Pros:Plug and play with no drivers needed.(used on Win XP Pro)Works as well as can be expected from cheap onboard sound.
Comment:
Used on old HP server converted to game computer for kids.No onboard sound on server, pluged this in and it worked perfectly with no reboot.Mike work's as well. Not high quality but good enough for games and handy for quick fix with little effort or $$$.Has dim but effective green LED when in use.Head Set with mike plugs in and works on any USB port.Cheap and effective for only $12.54,buying more for standby for quick fixing customer computers.5 Stars for cheap but effective.Edit-This works plug and play with Windows 7 beta. Syba SD-CM-UAUD USB Stereo Audio Adapter
Cons:Sound quality is perhaps not as smooth as it could be, but this will not be noticeable to most people. Design blocks adjacent USB ports unless a USB extension cable is used.

Pros:Fully USB compliant. Works with FreeBSD. Very good sound. Inexpensive.
Comment:
I purchased this little device because I couldn't get on-board sound working on the the D201GLY2 motherboard I'm using a gateway (oddly, on-board sound stopped working when a second NIC was added). Works beautifully with FreeBSD 6.x (just kldload the uaudio kernel module and plug in). Sound is really quite good, especially considering the cost of the unit. Highly recommended.
