Cons:It's called an 8-port switch but one port is used for the router connection. So you can only connect 7 devices.

Needed more connections. Replaced an asus 5-port switch with this 8-port switch. Was surprised that didn't even need to change the printer network address on all the computers that use the Canon MF4370dn connected to this switch! Plugged cables in the same position, not sure if that helped. |

I thought the LEDs were working when I plugged it in (showed glowing LED); then I couldn't connect to the internet because I didn't know the LEDs were suddenly off until I finished the installation.Routers, modems, etc. are placed in cramped locations because they're 'install and forget'. I mean who actually looks at their routers, modems, etc.? |

I picked up this switch in store and decided to use it as a bridge for my family room via a hardwired connection coming from the second floor and connected to my main router.Just plugged in the necessary electronics/devices and it works like a charm.I love the solid build quality too that it is has vs plastic build material. Will definitely enjoy the Green function on this unit, since most of the time I don't have my Xbox or Blu Ray on. |

Just ordered a second one for my entertainment unit after owning one for 1.5 years to switch the rest of the house's network. When doing large transfers, it max's out at the HDD speeds.I have never had a problem with this switch and would recommend it. I've never had to reboot it either. I do have a router in front of it, between the switch and modem, and did required a crossover cable for the router and switch to talk. |

This switch has done exactly what I expect. I plugged it in, connected my network cables, and forgot about it. It has never crashed or caused any connectivity problems; far exceeding my expectations. Considering how cheap it was on sale, it was a tremendous value. Also, they did not cut corners on the design or materials for the casing.
