Out of all the aftermarket heatsinks I've installed this one was by far the easiest. I installed this on Intel Core two Duo 8500 Wolfdale with Arctic Silver five and on complete load for the duration of a burn in test temps climbed 41 degrees and stayed there. Its surprisingly quite fairly and pushes sufficient air to make a box fan jealous. This heatsink is huge and heavy but sits high sufficient to clear my Corsair Dominator memory whichs has high mount heatinks with the contain memory fans on top. It also had no issue clearing the built in copper heatsinks on my ASUS P5Q Premium motherboard.Installation was extremely simple, install the retainer clips and push them into the holes. It has a typical 3 pin connector so no difficulties there and also has a built in fan speed dial. I just turned it onto max and let her spin but im sure the dial has its utilizes for some. None This is a great sturdy heatsink and supplies some of the very best cooling I've observed for air. I did nevertheless leave some blood on the fins from my thumb though trying to connect a wire in a tight spot. They will cut you...but its the nature of very good heatsinks to have quite thin fins to boost heat spread and dissipation. The light up fan is blue, so if you want your case to light up, I advise Thermaltakes Blue 120mm light up fans, they match perfectly and are high excellent.

This cooler has performed extremely nicely for me for over 18 months now. I utilised it with my am2 6000+ and now use it with my am3 955 black edition. In each circumstances it drops my temps on average about 9-10c from stock cooling. It is uncomplicated to install, and even looks pretty darn cool in the case. I pair it with mx-2 thermal paste and I get terrific outcomes. I originally utilized this cooler more than others since I had a hard time finding a single to fit in my case. (ram height issues, tall heat spreaders) This fits very easily, blows air towards the back outtake fan in my case and just does an outstanding job. Those writing negative evaluations merely cannot be utilizing it appropriately, I have been extremely satisfied with this cooler. Tall, not a con, just an concern with smaller instances. Fits quickly in my Antec 1200, but in mid tower and smaller cases fit could be an concern. Just a fantastic cooler.

This is the very best cpu fan I've even seen. The only factor I've noticed that beats this is water cooling. My method has a 15% overclock. I've tested it with the cpu fan off at load for more than 10min and we topped off at 40 degrees. The fan has no real have an effect on on the performance of the heatsink till you it ramps up to about 700rpm. The fan at it's regular low setting runs at about 1400rpm and keeps my cpu at idle around 30 and at load around 36. On high I loose an additional 2-three degrees. On the huge side. Don't like working with it on high considering that the fan gets fairly loud. Anyone not performing any serious overclocking like myself need to get programs like speedfan because it permits you to control your cpu fan speed and with a heatsink like this you don't basically need the fan. A definite recommendation to absolutely everyone searching for actual cooling power on a spending budget.

keeps items cool rather possibly the most poorly designed cpu cooler in history comes with various clips based your mobo. i had a socket am2, so i was stuck with maybe the most incompetent latching mechanism ever to grace the inside of a computerit looks like a squished M, and the concept seems simple sufficient. difficulty is, latch is totally separate from the cooler, so to install, you have to slide it in between the fan and the piping. no major deal, right? that's till you realize that the style of the cooler actually prevents you from locking the latch. the latch rotates in an arc, but that arc is obstructed by the piping if you attempt to latch it with the cooler already in place. instead, you have to wiggle the cooler up towards the fixed side, secure the latch side, then wiggle it back down, smearing thermal compound everywhere in the processadd on the truth that its height prevents its use in some situations, and obstructs case fan placement in others (e.g. my cm690, and you end up with a cooler that was clearly in no way tested prior to mass production

looks great, keeps my proc frosty cumbersome shape, its hell to mount on AM3 sockets, stock thermal grease stinks (used arctic silver 5), manual could be greater. I'm creating out of a reasonably little case (NZXT Nemesis Elite), but it fit just fine (granted it was a tight fit among the power supply). I spent much more than half an hour wrestling with the AM3bracket, trying to get it in. It just didn't want to go. I have to say, who ever created the AM3 bracket for this cooler is some sort of sadist. But regardless of the monumental frustration, it's efficient. Wouldn't by this distinct cooler once again, but would purchase from thermaltake once more.

It's a lot larger than it looks. That's not necessarily a negative factor. It seems to move heat like nobodys small business, but the significant size is one thing you need to strategy for. I'm sure some circumstances may well lack clearance. Its fan speed is adjustable. Even at a quiet setting, it appears to do its job well. Installation was a small tricky the 1st time, but I've removed and reinstalled it half a dozen occasions now. Due to the fact this was designed to function with a wide variety of processors and socket varieties, the copper slug doesn't have any definitive shape, and therefor can slide around on your thermal paste if you're not cautious. Because I no longer bother overclocking, this is a little overkill, but I believe in protecting my investment... regrettably, I feel a stock HSF would have done fine in my case... Oh nicely. It's a small tough to clean dust off of the inside of the fins around exactly where the fan is. My remedy is to use an old 1" paintbrush and a vacuum cleaner at the similar time :)

My CPU load temp went down from 66° C to 46° C! Idle dropped from around 50° to 38° or so. Now my pc blows cool air out the top! Also, this cooler is bigger and prettier than it looks in the images. I seriously wanted to only give four stars mainly because of how hard it was to install, but then my temps dropped 20° and my brain stated, "Ding ding ding! 5 Stars!" I haven't figured out how to turn the blue LED light off and that conflicts with my red/black color scheme--but I knew it was blue when I purchased it, so that's my fault. I in fact like the blue LED now although as it looks like UV when it reflects off of copper mirrors. Also, the cooler fits snuggly, but not so snuggly that I can't slide it around just a small, which could be a issue. I live in Guam and don't use air conditioning. So I'm running this laptop or computer in 86° F really humid ambient temps (in a Solano 1000R case, which is just like a little full-tower Antec 900 with a 250mm fan in the side). The CPU fan completed my high air flow program. If you look my case up, you'll see it's a small full tower (with embedded fan) and I only get 2mm clearance in between the heat sink and the side fan.

Cons:oversized, complex mounting for some.

Pros:Great design, copper heat sink disapation.
Comment:
overall thermaltake has had hit and miss for heatsinks, the fan blade design does a great job at heat destrabution but unfortunitly is oversized and for me I had a problem with midsize cases and the PCE GPU card.i would say if you hada full tower and wanted something unique, then go for it otherwise I suggest something more traditional.

Overclock my i7-920 to 3333mhz or so. Cools it to max of 58 celcius whilst operating fsx. 70 celcius with prime95 for an hour, but I don't go operating prime software program all the time. 40 celcius otherwise. Tough to clean the dust out. Will bend simply if case is dropped or shipped while assembled. Kind of loud at high speed, but at least you know it's nonetheless working. Had this nearly a year with no complaints. Looks cool, too.

If you have good case airflow, cooling performance is incredible. ࿔C prime95 load 4cores, Phenom II X4 at three.3Ghz OC, when laptop case is opened. 62C with close case).FAN speed at low 1300RPM is quiet, althought not completely silent. three-pin CPU Fan connector, so fan speed will not throttle on (most) 4-pin CPU fan motherboards.FAN speed at medium 1600RPM is kinda loud, and 2000RPM is way too loud.(However, 1300RPM is adequate even for OCing, so this is not really an concern) Significantly better temperatures than stock AMD heatsink fan or my worthless TR2-R1 heatsink fan (which is worst than stock). The design of this heatsink seems to actually benefit from good air flow. (Air flow affects cooling considerably a lot more than its fan speed)I took additional steps to improve this heatsink's efficiency, and temperature dropped about 10'C. I lapped the CPU and the copper base of this V1 heatsink with wet 400雈 grit sandpaper. I applied Artic Silver 5 between the cpu and heatsink base. I unscrewed and opened up the top portion of the heatsink (above the heatpipes) and put the included thermal paste in between the ridges of the heatpipes.Just before I utilized the included white thermal paste instead of artic silver, didn't lap the V1 heatsink base (my cpu was already lapped flat), and put too way a lot thermal paste between the heatpipes.

I have an Intel Pentium Dual Core E2200 2.2GHz overclocked at three.1GHz, with Arctic Silver five and this heatsink, in an Antec Nine Hundred case, and I idle at 24 degrees Celsius ࿫.2F)! My thermostat is set at 74F! I'm just one degree above space temperature with an .9GHz overclock on a hot CPU. WOW. Below load I hover about 40C, and at 45C through Prime95. The only factor limiting my overclock is my power supply and the processor itself. It's a small bit noisy, but not too poor, especially since my case is already noisy with all the fans set on high. Also a bit significant unless you have a mid-tower or larger case. Otherwise I have no complaints. As superior as a Zalman 9500 or 9700 (almost), and a lot less expensive. Certainly worth receiving.

Very best CPU fan I've ever had. I've been using this cooler for years now in all the Ps I build. It brought my PC from 55-60 degress (stock) Celsiusto (which was unacceptable) to 25 to 35 degress Celsius. Really major. It's a fantastic style, will function nicely for any cooling scenario that can fit it. Push pins with plastic fasteners that are too big to in fact go through the holes they're intended for. 1 side of them will break off prior to it truly goes by means of. And the pins are no cost to move around all they want too, had to go back to the loud stock 1 since this will never install. Put some firmly mounted screws in your designs thermaltake, until then all your products aren't definitely compatible with socket x,y,z; just the lucky people can make use of them. How did this get a reddot style award? Manufacturer Response:Dear consumer,We do apologize for the problems you are having and we will replace the brackets for you. works as advertised. Keeps my Phenom X4 940 cool all of the time. CPU temps average 32° C even throughout high loads when gaming. I develop my own PCs as well as pals and families units and have in no way seen any of them run this cool, even idle. This thing idles at 28° C. Not truly a con but be conscious that this is a tall unit. It extends 6" from the motherboard so make sure your case is deep sufficient. Mine has a fairly tall MB mount Ƒ.5") so I require a minimum 7.five " case width which is what I have.

I love this cooler, Thermaltake is leaps and bounds ahead of the competition. It can keep my q6600 on a 680i SLI MOBO at 32°C(45°C under load). It is quiet works well and looks awesome. My one complaint is it is very big, hard to fit in my case with the power supply. Well worth the money just make sure you have room in your case.
