Comment:
OK, the greatest Pro is that this tiny cooler did not die on me in the 3 years I owned it. It is really quiet, affordable and lasts forever (in my case anyway). Difficult to clean without having compressed air.Right after mounting on a HD, it is impossible to instert the setup into a 3.5 bay without some bending of the case brackets. Quite useful and well worth the little value. I Got mine back in 2003 for twice the cost but couldn't be happier. My 80GB 4 year old Seagate still runs. Private record for tough drive life so I am giving this tiny thing most of the credit. IT's low cost, trustworthy, and the best component: it actualy functions.

Cools HDD Good, looks very good, nice aluminum fins, inexpensive The fans started to squeal soon after less than 1 month, comes w/ cheap sleeve bearing fans, I just ordered two EVERCOOL FAN-EC5020M12CA 50mm Case Fans to replace them. I also ordered a EVERCOOL HD-F117 Aluminum HDD Cooling Device, this 1 states it has ball bearing fans. I will write a review on those following I get them. No question, when fans are working ok, this assists preserve drive cooler. Been utilizing them for years. Affordable and quiet. They move a lot of air for the size. From time to time 1 of the fans will start off to die and grind. This of course puts vibration on the drive which isn't excellent. It appears that the fans must last longer than some do. WOW! This little gem helped me fix a video card (due to a dying fan). Let's say only one of the fans die and the other is great. Well in this case the size was ideal for this vid card. I cut off the poor fan and installed the excellent onto the heat sink of a Radeon 9550! Moves way much more air than the junky fan it came with and is a whole lot quieter. I am surprised we don't see these becoming sold with a common two pin as a video card fan.

I developed a Tivo and the quantity of writing carried out to the HD and it getting a very hot summer was overheating the tough drive like none other (even with a passive cooling block on it). I decided I needed a cooler. I got this 1, and the temps went from 51 C to 30 C. It is also really quiet. The sound is nevertheless dominated by the 40mm CPU fan which was previously the only fan I had. Also, fits unlike previously applied passive cooler. None.

*cheap*Effective *If your case has bottom-rests for the hard drive, you will have to eliminate them or bend them out of the way. Smaller value to spend to cool the drive, in my opinion. I have a cooler, almost all Vantec, on each HDD and most of my drives last five+ years. Cooling works.

The item performs as advertised and looks very good in the case. I can't do just before and after temps but I'm happy with the purchase. Does demand some modification to the bays in the case. I read all the evaluations before getting so I was totally expecting the case modification when I went to install. I chose a different bay for the difficult drive and ground off the tabs of the bay above it so that the hard drive could sit higher in it's place. So lengthy as you anticipate this, you will be pleased with the obtain I believe.

Solid, seemed like it would have been good. The way it mounts on the drive can cause problems mounting the drive to your case. On some (My) case, each and every 3.5 drive bay just has space above/below for the drive itself. The size of the region that screws onto the drive would not fit (Between the thin location of metal and the screws that stuck out, I would not get it to fit in my case without having cutting a modest bit of the inside of my case up. Just make positive you have a lot of room just before you obtain!

This cooler does a excellent job. Attached really very easily to my seagate single platter difficult drive and even utilised the very same molex energy connector. Runs close to silent and keeps a challenging drive extremely cool in a case that has terrible airflow. Would effortlessly buy again. Loved it. I did use a single platter tough drive which is a small bit shorter than the typical disc. I had no challenge with drive rails getting in the way in a dell 8000 series case. Some tooless design circumstances could trigger clearance problems but I had none.

Cooled down the HD properly, and in the beginning worked nicely... but... I used my pc often, and it is on generally also. Every single once in a while I dust out my personal computer, use air dust to get all the dust out, but now owning these coolers for over 1 1ǘ, they became noisier, which lead to vibrating additional. I have two of them, and each of them became louder and vibrating far more. I know that small vibrations might or may well not harm the HD, but I don't want to risk it.

Superior solid heatsink, working, high-output small fans. Installs with out modification to my case (Eagletech Viper 2) The bearing form is sleeve. Like other people have warned, it will wear out sooner, than the most recent bearing-varieties. For the cost, this is hardly a accurate con. Most most likely, you will not will need to mod your case, or bend down the notches on your challenging-drive enclosure etc, as lengthy as you just use the two screws on the back of the heatsink, which was what I did. It's secure sufficient with just those in for me. I can in all probability mange to add the front screws in, but it'll take some effort. With a little ingenuity, you shouldn't have to change your case to accomodate the heatsink. Contemplate either upgrading or replacing the fans when they lastly give out. Any 50x10mm fans will function (I feel it's worth it to do that, right after the stock-fans give out. You'll just have 1 additional 4-pin wire to deal with is all.). Too bad I can't find any 50x10 mm fans that come with LEDs!

It feels as if its cooling the difficult drives (Hitachi Deskstars). Vista won't display the hdd sensors like XP does. SO I will be installing yet another hdd and XP. I couldn't fit the difficult drives all the way into my case, which is no biggy. Properly, if they are below 30c (temps I saw when I had XP) then its worth the ŭ for peace of thoughts.

I had never ever monitored my tough drive temps just before, but I thought to myself, "what the heck, buy a hard drive cooler." My temps prior to were about 31 - 37 Celsius on my WD 36GB Raptor and about 27 - 33 Celsius on my WD SE16 400GB drive. Right after drive coolers, they both chill at about 25 - 30 Celsius now (room temperature), so I guess it created somewhat of a difference.... They are quiet as nicely. No complaints in that regard. They slide into the tabs of my hard drive bays fine, but it was the mounting screws that had been truly holding it back for me. Either way, I totally anticipated getting to mod the challenging drive bay in some form (in my case, it was just bending/snapping-off the metal tab guides). If you will need hard drive cooling, get it. If you don't (like I didn't), don't bother. I can't complain abou the fans.

Heavy duty aluminum! Cools quite nicely. Inexpensive! Super quick shipping thanks to newegg ɛ Doesn't fit in my external enclosure. =-[ I just wish it was a small bit thinner so it would fit in my external enclosure. I was really surprised when I received this cooler. It has a quite heavy blue aluminum housing about the fans. For $x you can\'t go incorrect, in particular from a really renowned company. Thank you newegg!

Keeps my HD cool, cheap, and it's quiet. Does take away an HD slot and doesn't fit in with tool less HD cage. Had difficulties finding this to install, due to the fact the 3.five adapter for my case won't permit for the fan to attach to the HD and the plastic tool much less drawers for the HD also gave me difficulties. Went around this by modding the little plastic drawers and attaching to the hd, not fairly but works.

These fans are pretty quiet when they function. Heat from the drives comes down quite a bit as well. I had 2 of these (one for each drive) and they both failed inside weeks of each and every other. The fans are awful. At least they give you warning that they are about to go by generating a horrifying grinding noise. I certainly would not buy a different set of these.

this is a great hdd cooler. it fits in difficult drive bays if there is nothing underneath the slot (ie. an additional hdd). fits well in my gigabyte aura case and it fit in my thermaltake armour and xavier case. it could not fit in some computer cases, attempt to make certain there is room under/above the hdd.
