Vantec IDE to SATA converter

Works perfectly, without any problems. Connected my IDE hard drive and it is now running on SATA. I also transfered large file and it didn't freeze on me.

I was looking for a product that could connect my ide harddrive to my sata board when I came across this product. Once I installed it, I was deply let down. It didn't work on my PC. I wish that I would have read the other reviews before I purchased this item. It's probably one of the worse things that I have spent $20 on. I think that maybe it only works for certain PCs.

I have not go the product ot work. I'm using a new EVGA 730I motherboard, no success.

My ASUS motherboard is great, but only has one IDE port. That means switching from an older system was a bit of a challenge, since I had two IDE hard drives and one IDE DVD writer. The Vantec converter let me keep the hard drive by adapting it to use a SATA port, while the other two drives stayed on the one IDE port available. The transition was completely seamless, and I haven't noticed any performance drop at all. Thanks Vantec!

easy to install and great way to use some of your older ide tech.

I took it out of the box and within 10 minutes had it hooked up to my IDE DVD-R-RW-CD-R-RW combo drive. Used it to install os 7 on my new home-built computer. My only complaint is the blister pack it came in is not no 1 or no 2 plastic - so I can't recycle it.

For those that upgrade to a newer mother board, but still want to use the old IDE drive this is perfect. I had been looking for something like this since upgrading my system last year. Now I can install both my CD drives on the IDE cable and make use of the SATA hook ups for my IDE drives. Great product and it comes with everything you need. Gave straight 4s because there is always room for improvement. Thank you are my only computer product resource.

Attempted to use to convert an IDE CDRW unit to SATA. Product did not work, period.

Hooked up the converter to get data from an old ide drive to a new one on my new computer. While I did succeed after several hours, when attempting to transfer lots of data all at once (cutting and copying large directories) the transfer would freeze and I'd have to reset everything. I decided not to leave the old drive plugged in since it was sketchy at best.

You can't get any better than a product that performs exactly as presented by TigerDirect. It installed easily on a legacy Western Digital Caviar 500GB drive and fired up on the first try in a new Windows 7 system (HP). I saved a brand new hard drive from becoming a paper weight. If you have a problem with a product this simple and straight forward, you are doing something wrong or trying to get it to do something it's not made to do. I recommend it without hesitation or reservation.

Good way to salvage IDE drives, although you can get a new SATA DVD combo burner for about ten dollars more. I have not tried it on a hard drive.

Worked as expected. Be sure you have room behind your drive, since this is not a small item and people may have issues of fitting it in micro cases. Saved havign to buy a new drive though, so its great!

I bought this and installed it on my linux box as I wanted to use and old IDE HD. Installation was easy and there was no OS setup required

When you have been around computers as long as I have been, they were invented in my lifetime, one can appreciate the simplicity of installation of this converter. It works and the instructions were complete, plus Windows Vista recognized the new hardware immediately.

The y power adapter supplied had an LP4 connector for the power supply. I had to buy SATA to LP4 Power Cable Adapter. Seems kind of odd since the purpose of this was to convert from newer SATA connections. Once I tracked down an adapter, it worked great.

I recently upgraded to a new computer box. It has a SATA hard drive but my backup was a slave IDE drive. This little converter did the trick. I found it simple and easy to use. No data loss and it worked the first time.It's inexpensive and I would recommend it.

The product works but you MUST visit the www DOT vantecusa DOT com website in order to get COMPLETE instructions. I think previous post were not provided with the proper installation diagrams.

Yea this works as they say. I am glad to find it here. Sticks out a bit so make sure you have extra room at the back end of the drive.

When i got it to work once, i would give it all 5 stars. However, i have three of these, and not one of them works correctly.
