Little & Transportable! My 160GB Laptop SATA fit perfectly in it. Comes with usb cable. Worked great the initial time I employed it, and has continued to perform fantastic ever due to the fact. Nice drive activity light so that you can see the drive is getting accessed. For the price tag, this is the one particular to get! None so far. I didn't like the small Double-Finish USB cable that came with it. It's supposed to be for computers that don't have sufficient USB power to run the drive. I just replaced it with a standard mini-usb cable and the drive has worked fine on every personal computer I've tried, both laptop and desktop.

I am about to buy my third enclosure, I have two already at household and I now want one to retain in my office toolkit.. Extremely quick, stays cool, the Y cable comes in handy for use on Pc's that cant push adequate power via one particular USB port. I wanted to upgrade my two year old laptop's 120 GB HD to a 500 GB HD. So, I bought this, cloned the difficult drive utilizing Clonezilla and resized using gparted. This drive will work with just the main USB plugged in. Fairly rapid transfer speed with a 5400 rpm difficult drive. Don't swap drives, so no complaints about opening or replacing drives. Drive feels secure in the enclosure none really the indicator light is a bit bright, but electrical tape covers that. Also, some computer systems might need you to plug each usb cables in to energy the drive.

Installed a Western Digital Scorpio Blue WD5000BEVT 500GB 5400 RPM 8MB Cache two.five" SATA 3.0Gb/s Internal Notebook Tricky Drive into this enclosure and it operates wonderful. Had to format hdd to be seen by windows 7. Had no challenge with the screws but I utilized a excellent screw driver that fit the head. Wish it had a protective case. Great construction and unlses it was dropped or utilized as a football I dont think that the hdd not becoming fastened into the case will ever be a dilemma

Cool case. I like the smooth black finish. Tiny. Straightforward to assemble. No energy cord a bonus. Excellent price w/ totally free shipping. Literally up and operating within a couple of minutes. none The lower ratings are hilarious. Stiff usb cable? Double ended usb cable? Screws are challenging to put in? Documentation is lacking? haha. I mean, come on! I opened the box subsequent to the garbage can and tossed away the documentation, box, packing, etc. I pulled the end off the case, snapped my drive in, place it in the case, twisted in two screws.. plugged it in. Formatting the drive now. For those that have never turned screws into plastic/aluminum ahead of, right here's a tip. Alum and plastic are soft materials. The screws are tough steel. Stripping will occur when the screws are not in straight and/or the holes are not aligned. When the cover is put over the case, make positive the cover is aligned w/ the holes on the case. Use a flashlight if you have to. Then pop the screws in, straight. Each screws went in tight. A single went in a tiny misaligned, I just twisted it down, remaking new threads in the soft material till I saw the cover seal down tight.

Reasonably priced, sleek, usb 2. speed, looks very good. none wish they produced blue and silver enclosures as nicely, i like having various colors so I don't confuse myself.

Really Basic which tends to make life straightforward. Appears really solid. My 2 year knocked the factor off the chair it was resting on to the tile floor. It had my new SSD Intel X-25 in it and I cringed. No challenge at all though. Got right here prior to other stuff I ordered elsewhere Newegg rocks.

Installed a Segate 160Gig SATA HD, plugged it into the USB port, it was recognized proper away, and I then partitioned and formatted the drive. Operates rapid. Would have been nice to contain a carrying case. I have bought two other external drive enclosures by Vantec that use the ATA-6 difficult drives and soon after 2 years, they are nonetheless going strong, which is why I bought this 1. Tiny size, worked with the old 5400 rpm 40 gig I had lying about. When I required to upgrade the drive I place in a 500 gig Hitachi had to use the Y cable on a couple of older systems but works great more than a year later. Little also big for some (not all) hdd cases but not really an problem I will be buying a different one in the close to future

durable aluminum case, doesn't need external power, plug and play it's not cost-free This was precisely what I was looking for - affordable (ภ with cost-free shipping), straightforward to use (it took less than five minutes from box open to drive mounted & reading/writing), and durable. The extruded aluminum case is lightweight yet durable - one piece except the two plastic ends. The drive fits exactly in the case with no slop. I did require to use a mini screwdriver to close the case (a ş is too major), but if you don't currently have a set of these you aren't truly a Computer tinkerer, now are you?

Take off the finish of the case, connect the drive to the finish, slide it in, screw in the screws, and plug it in. Aluminum body keeping the drive cool. The L.E.D. light is WAY Also Vivid. Most folks (including me) don't will need a two USB connections. I cut off the 2nd bigger USB cord which is nice to have gone. If you cut the 2nd typical sized USB cable off, I didn't have any problems with the rest of the cord not working. Just make sure you cut the USB that comes out of the other. No carrying case but won't scratch very easily. Would buy again even even though the light is way also vibrant.

quite sturdy, works as advertised which is finding to be a huge plus these days hdd seems to fit a small loose since there are no screws to keep it in location. there are only two screws and they screw in on the end of enclosure to keep it together. on the other hand, i have had no issues with a loose connection but. i prefer the nexstar 3 series due to the fact the case itself is a tiny more sturdy, and the hdd seems to not be as loose since it has 4 screws holding the hdd in place. With that being stated, this a single is about half the price as those. Just a thing to contemplate if you program to use this on the go.

looks nice cant put it together, the screws provided are too fat for the screw holes on the case. hopefully i can return for a complete refund. I have a Vantec three.five" case that I really like, so when I needed a 2.five" case I didnt even look at any other brands. This is very disappointing, not to mention terribly inconvenient.

Tiny, light, good looking, wonderful costComes with a blue LED that shows power and blinks on usage. It is not overly strong as some are that get annoyingly vivid. Newegg's ultra rapid shipping! As others have stated, I had problems with the screws. They did give me four with only two holes, but they were needed due to the fact one particular of them wouldn't perform. No carry case.Have to use 2 USB connectors to power it. Older Vantec and other business's circumstances only necessary a single. Persons that say it was DOA...if you commence with a new HD you have to initialize it and then format it!! It would have been good if they would have included a smaller pouch to put it in. Other (PATA) two.5" cases from Vantec I personal came with good pouches and had been no much more high priced.It took more than 3 hours to format my new WD 250GBǝ,200rpm HD, but I'm not positive if that was the enclosures fault. Quite good case for the price tag. Easy style and black. Had to use the connector piece to pull what I required from the spare drive I had. Was not expecting the dual USB (data + power) to the mini. Oversight on my portion. Do they seriously need to have to have LEDs so bright. Perhaps they ought to make LED lightbulbs and I could replace the rest of my CFL's. Didn't fit my drive... my fault for not checking initially.

Operates and performs as advertised. Nice enclosure and superior value with this item. The screws that hold the enclosure together call for a really tiny screwdriver. The screw heads are normal size but the shaft of your screwdriver greater be modest. A small screwdriver that came with the Rosewill brand enclosure I bought at the very same time worked perfectly. Funny how a competitors item produced this program total. Good product and I trust the brand but a small annoying it demands a special tool to assemble/
