This is my second purchase of a Vantec enclosure in 2 years and it's the second time I receive a defective USB cable with the product.The CX enclosure is good looking and simple to open/use. Worked like a charm with a SSD drive. Too bad the experience is ruined by bad quality third-party accessories.

This is a great enclosure for the price. It's compact and does not require an additional power source to operate. I upgraded my laptop to an SSD and used the hard drive that came out with this enclosure for a portable external hard drive. For the price you can't go wrong.

It works good with my WD black HDD, easy to install and come with extra screws. With my Asus O!Play, have to plugin 2 USB or it can't detect it.For this price with this brand and this look, I like it.

Decent price for an enclosure. This one reaches 35mb/s on USB 2 when reading, but has a write speed of less than 5mb/s, one of the slowest write speeds I've seen recently. Would not buy again. I suggest the USB 3.0 version which does reach 30mb/s writes on USB 2.

Ce disque dur est très mince et sont fini est de très bonne qualité malgré son très bas prix. Le disque dur fait comme un gant à l'intérieur du boitier. Un connecteur d'alimentation 5 volts est sur boitier pour alimentation externe si le port USB est insufisant.

good drive enclosure for great price, works very with sata 2.5" drives, very small, easy to install drives, and i love how it doesn't need another power source, it powers itself through the USB cable

This enclosure is very nice and don't need external power source. Coupled with a 500GB Scorpio hard disk, it works perfectly.

Small,inexpensive and does what its supposed to do.Looked at best buy and they had one for 60 bucks that does the same thing and was not even close to portable.I buy ALL my computer stuff here and always will.

This is the perfect enclosure to pair with a laptop harddrive! I have a 320GB Caviar Blue in it, runs like a charm and works on every system I throw it at (Even an old Pentium 3!)

A terrific product at a terrific price. I use the Vantec on drives I use for backup. I don't even bother with the case. If I did use the case for any reason, I wouldn't use the small screws. Just use a small piece of tape instead. This is my 5'th Vantec head and all have been perfect and trouble free.

This enclosure was very easy to setup. Worked flawlessly. I used it as a home for a laptop disk that had a bad sector on it. I installed a new drive in the laptop and put the old one in the enclosure. My daughter was then able to get all of her music off the old drive and still use it for temp storage. Just make sure you do not drop the very small screws and have a eyeglass screw driver for the installation.

Bought this after upgradeing my ps3 HDD. used old harddrive to work with the external caseing. had np did exactly what it was designed for. now on top of ps3 HDD i have an external running on it also for even more space

Good enclosure for the price. The build quality and the design are both better than the cheaper Vantec TX series. However, the CX is inferior to the Vantec SX. These are both expected, as the CX straddles the TX and the SX in price.

This came as advertised. The light on the case is little, but bright enough to see it across the room, so you know it's working. Just a shame my hard drive was completely dead. Guess I'll just have to buy a new one to use with this.

I needed to backup the data on my laptop's hard drive before sending it in for repairs. This unit arrived timely and t tech support was available to answer my call and talk me thru the connection process. It did the job I needed with no problems, at a reasonable price, and with quick delivery.

Worked exactly as advertised and reviewed here. Fast plug-in, worked on the first try, got all of the data I needed from the hard drive quickly and without any problems. I was using a Toshiba 80G drive that had a corrupt OS after a motherboard meltdown, and was trying to just get the files back. As mentioned in other reviews, the screws did not work properly - the pre-drilled holes were too big, so no amount of screwing them in did any good. However, I just taped it shut and it still worked great. For the price, it was exactly what I needed.

Great, sleek, ruged little enclosure. Nice compact design. Drives are a snap to swap in and out thanks to the SATA connections.

I bought two of these, one to replace a different model that broke and one for my wife. I love the form factor and it definitely is better constructed for the one it replaced. I have been using for a month now and I am very happy.

Bought this to access a failing laptop drive and recover files. It worked fine for this purpose. Drive was easy to mount and enclose and came right up on USB. Could be a bit flimsy if used for everyday storage.

I was excited when I received this. Easy to set up and install. I found it to be cheaply made but for the price I couldn't really complain. My main complaint is the mini-b usb connection on it decided it didn't want to be connected to the circuit board anymore and broke off one day. I found this to be really disappointing because I really never pulled the plug in and out to wear it out so I rated this one low.

I would recommend this enclosure. I bought two of them. Out of the box to transferring files in just a few minutes. Installation of a 120GB Hitachi from my macbook went flawless. No problems with screws. The only reason I gave it a 4 on features is the led is only one color and flashes for activity, unlike the Masscool which flashes from green to red to indicate activity. I own both and they are the same price. The Vantec is sleeker in styling, the Masscool flashes colors. Sixes I guess.

I purchased this enclosure for the 40GB HDD I removed from my PS3. At first I had a problem with my XP computer recognizing the drive. I followed the directions here (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/309000/) to create a new partition, then formatted the drive. Now it works great :-)
