Good price, outstanding top quality. Comes with screwdriver that worked with my laptop too! Wonderful box even. No stupid plastic clamshell that takes 30 minutes to open. Great instructions. Never ever figured out what to do with little clear plastic. Do you know what it is for? Totally outstanding product. A joy to use! I wish every thing I bought were as great as this! Newegg, you done it once more!The drive appears to wobble a bit inside the enclosure, so put in a folded piece of paper or something so it doesn't move around.

Works excellent! Straightforward install! The tough drive is not snug inside. A metal or plastic spring bumper along the face of the drive would have helped.

Price, (Got it on sale for ű.99). Size, HDD capacity. I purchased this due to the fact I wanted an external boot drive and didn't want to lug one of the three.five enclosures about. While I located that booting Windows from an external drive is almost impossible, if this factor fails tomorrow it is nonetheless worth the money I paid for it. The drive I chose to test this enclosure fits snug with no want for the included plastic spacer and even though this drive is only 5400rpm, I can't see a 7200rpm drive heating this thing up substantially far more than this 1. This enclosure holds up to a 750Gb drive and I'll be employing a 500Gb drive in here for backups and file transfers between systems. There are a couple of quirks with this enclosure, (see other thoughts), but overall, absolutely nothing to warrant a loss of stars or to call a con. I didn't get two of these when I had the chance and the sale doesn't last forever. This enclosure comes with a Y USB cable for data transfer/power and only the straight via side of the Y cable can be used to power the unit if only one of the USB plugs is utilised. I haven't had to use both plugs yet. Also, this enclosure can not be utilized with a USB extension cable on some of the older boards, (not sufficient energy). That last could just be a quirk of that specific board, but I'm thinking it's most likely so for some much more of the older boards, so just a heads up to those who might uncover themselves needing to back up some data on an older method.The only factor that would have created this enclosure perfect is the inclusion of an On/Off switch but I'm guessing that would have driven the price up so the trade off is understandable. Nonetheless, I get palpitations when I unplug this factor while my system is nonetheless powered up simply because that "clunk" sound of the drive stopping suddenly is nervous generating, to say the least.As often, Kudos to Newegg on fast shipping.

About as little as it can get and still enclose a challenging drive.Nicely built (feels solid when the HDD is installed) Included Y-cable is only 1 foot long. The drive I put in this (WD caviar blue 640GB) actually wants two USB connections for power, so I eventually purchased a longer Y-cable.

It works great. It was uncomplicated to put the drive in. Mine was missing 1 of the tiny screws that holds it together.

Simple setup, decent heat dissipation I suppose given that it gets warm it need to be shedding heat. Decent speed for USB, I suppose. I installed a brand new WD5000BEVT to burn it in just before installing that drive in a friend's laptop, and the 80G drive it's replacing goes into this case afterward... anyway, I plugged it into a server and ran "badblocks -wvs /dev/sdc" which makes it write and then read back four bit patterns for 8 total passes, and it's just now finished up following nearly 53 straight hours of constant activity. No difficulties. On this machine (NForce4 chipset), it averages 21MB/s for both reads and writes. Like they stated, the drive isn't secured inside the case so it flops about and the heat transfer could be even better if it was held in from the sides with aluminum screws or whatever. In an age of blue lights, this one is green. oh well :P If you got this in a box with packing peanuts like I did, smash 1 or two flat and fold them over the inside edge of the drive before sliding it in. It'll knock out the rattle and hold it a bit more steady and so on. Keep it away from the breathe hole. The screws and driver worked fine for me, just be gentle and don't overtighten since they're metal going into plastic which WILL strip! They went in rather tight for me, which I like simply because I'm going to take the drive back out as soon as the buddy and laptop arrive and I want it to be still tight when I put them back in the last time.

Does it's job. Low cost. Applied for old laptop tough drive just to make use of it. So far so very good. Not gold plated. Does what's expected, feels solid. No frills but I didn't want to pay for any.

I got this enclosure for my laptop's old hard disk. It was straight forward to install. It also works with any operating system.Some people say that the hard disk rattles inside the enclosure, but that shouldn't matter since moving the hard disk when its being operated is dangerous (for the hard disk!).

Cheap price, gets the job done. You can really feel the heat in the case after running it for an extended period of time. However, this is kinda common for enclosures like these. If your computer died and you need to pull the data out of the hard drive, this is the ideal solution.

I bought this case for my old laptop HD since I got 1 new 7200 rpm HD. And this 1 does very good job and with a very good price after pricematch. Can't go wrong.

I replaced the drive in my laptop with an SSD so I got this to keep the old drive in. it works well enough, but the drive rattles a bit in the enclosure.

Can't beat this for the price. Works as desribed. My HDD didn't fit in the enclosure because the laptop HDDhas it's own protective cover, but the connecter comes out easily so it wasn't an issue. I used this to recover files off the hard drive after it crashed, so it was well worth the price. Also, I ordered at 8:30PM and it arrived the next day!!! Can't beat that anywhere!

Can't beat the price! for the cost it is great. easy to use and although it has a duel USB plug, I only need to use one to operate my hard-drive. The only problem I had was that my drive did not fit securely in the enclosure (it rattled around a little). I placed a little rubber cushion in the bottom and no more rattle. great product for the price.

Can't miss with this item. I had a Dell failure of a laptop and decided to try this item to salvage my hard drive. extremely easy to mount and install. Very happy with this item.

Works as advertised. My initial need was to salvage my wife's computer data. Now this case is being used as a backup external drive. Here is how it started. My wife's laptop's operating system crashed and I figured I could recover the data files by making it an external drive. It worked. I plugged it up to my computer, scanned it for viruses, and than copied the data files. I then put the hard drive back into its own computer and reloaded the original operating system which reformatted the drive and restored it to factory specs. After reloading other apps, I used the case to hold the now reformatted drive and copied the date files back to where they belonged. Multiple step process, but bottom line is I saved all the data and cleaned up the drive as a bonus. My wife's computer runs like new and data was saved. I have since purchased another hard drive to live in this case to act as a data backup drive. My wallet is happy, Mama is happy, which makes me happy.

I needed a basic drive enclosure, so my daughter could retrieve her old laptop files. This works just fine and a piece of foam made the drive fit inside with no rattles.

I bought this for a spare 40GB HDD i had laying around after an upgrade. Honestly this is just a simple basic enclosure. nothing shiny or flashy about it, but it is cheap and works exactly as promised. Not too many feature, but for the price i would not own anything else.
