This product creates a conflict in Windows XP that causes it to freeze up every few seconds. Don't bother.

Comment:
I bought this to replace my 8 year old Linksys Wireless PCI card V2.7 thinking that a new card would be faster than the old. The best speed I got from this card is 3.2mps but my 8 year old Linksys got 5.1mps. This card also has problems with connection speeds. When 1st connected, it would connect at 54mps, then connection speed starts to drop, all the way down to 11mps. Signal strength was ''Excellent''. The icing on the cake was when return this piece of junk, Tiger Direct charged me 15% restocking charge. Not worth the money!

This card doesn't work under Windows XP nor linux. The driver that came with it basically kills XP. I also saw the problem with the whole computer freezing every five seconds. I tried to uninstall and delete everything to do with this despised card, and even reinstall windows and it is still freezing up. Even when it did work briefly with the standard Windows generic driver, it didn't work well and kept on disconnecting even with the other computer 5 feet away! I agree with many other reviews -- get a better card.

I have installed 2 of these cards for customers. The first could see the network with a strong connection but would cut in and out several times a minute. Very annoying. 2nd customer: couldn't even see the network router in the next room. Very bad.

Worst thing I have ever bought. Even in Windows XP, the drivers are complete garbage and cause Blue screens. I went to their site and got the latest drivers and even those were causing blue screens. Lately, It had started to cause lag in which the mouse or anything wouldn't work for about every 5 seconds. After about a minute of this, it would blue screen with the error message Driver_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. I had the correct drivers but yet it still caused problems. This is stated in the previous reviews so it is a documented problem. Don't be fooled by its cheap price; buy a better card.

First, this card was unable to decode WPA-PSK protection code. The card was resetting every 30 seconds. Change to WEP code and was able to decode but speed was slowly decreasing from 50mb to 1 mb with intermittent frezzing. I understood this card small cpu was defective. I replace it with a D-Link card and work at first try, full speed. Don't waste money with cheap card unless you are ready to deal with defective one...

I had a old Dlink PCI wireless card, and I was having problems with it since I installed Service Pack 3 for XP. It would not longer connect using WPA2. It would only connect WPA-AES, not WWPA-TKIP or WPA2. I found this card for $14.99 at Compusa and gave it a try since I wasn't risking much at this price. Pleasant surprise. It connected WPA or WPA2, both TKIP and AES without a hitch using either the Trendnet connection utility or using Window's built-in connection manager. Signal strength with the Dlink was 60-80% and would frequently drop back to 36mps. The Trendnet connects at 54mps and a solid 100% with no change in PC placement. BTW, the included Trendnet connection utility looks and works much like the Dlink connection utility. Dlink users will be right at home. My card has a RealTEK chipset and just works great. I highly recommend this card.

Installed two cards in XP machines. Added the software from CD, but got conflicts with Windows, and it killed some processes everytime anyone logged in! Talked with TrendNet and they said to uninstall the software, and let Windows install it itself. Their software is pretty, but does not behave very well with others.

piece of crap. Mediocre reception even with the extra 7dBi directional antenna. Caused my WinXP to lag approximately every 3 seconds (yes the screen just froze and I can't do anything). Returned this to store the next week and bought Hiro H50069 PCI Wireless Network Adapter instead. Now I am happy.

I have to say I had my troubles with this but when it worked I had full 54mbps was even able to watch full episodes off networks. BUT! after a bit it lost it configuration and took me some time to get it fixed. When it did it again I could not even use the computer becauese it froze up each time it tried to scan for a signal. And when I tired to disable it I got the BSOD. Even messed up stuff trying to remove the card or uninstall it. BSOD.

It is a crap device. When it works, it did not pick the signal upstairs. The other computer does. After I moved, it did not work anymore. I tried the disk with the product and download the driver from website, neither works. THe complaint is it does not meet the standard of Microsoft. And somebody told me it did not design for Unix or Linux. It is a piece of garbage. Do not buy!.

I have 2 of these, both running on XP. One's a nondescript backup comp running an AMD 64 +3000, the other is a spare gaming comp XFX 680i, Quad 6600, 2 nVidia 8500 in SLI, OCZ SLI memory 800. I had a problem at first with the original PCI slot on the XFX, comp wouldn't boot. Changed slot, works fine. Good signal thru the whole house & backyard, using Westell router (Bellsouth). I'm about to buy another for my work computer in the other room. Recommend this!

This adapter slows and freezes my computer. It used to work okay but only during the first few days, I was still lagging though. But now, if I am connected, it just freezes!!! There is an old saying ''you get what you pay for''. This is risky stuff, if you want a better one, I would recommend going with a branded name like US Robotics, Linksys, Netgear, DLink etc.. you can never go wrong with them.

To everyone that is like me, and thinks that everything is Plug-n-Play - ITS NOT! If you follow the directions (EXACTLY), this card works great. However, I'm not a gamer or 24-7 surfer, just an everyday News/E-mail kinda guy. If you're like me, this card works great!

Easy to set up, connected to the internet without a problem. But it won't stay connected. it constantly disconnects, online gaming impossible. horrible card, i strongly advise that you do not purchase this. signal strength is at max 3 bars even though i am not very far away from the router. but it does ''work'' with vista, the drivers on the cd don't though. you have to get them online, but they didn't help me at all. . .

Purchased 4 months ago. Running 2 of these cards with a Linksys router on a wired and wireless network. Great signal strength, no problems with signal or connections. Great value for the $$'s. Easy to set up and install. Understand that some negative reviews are operator errors or errors within their system. Service with Tiger always exceeds expectations.

I bought this 423PI and installed it on a Windows XP system. This is located in my basement, the wireless router is on my home's second floor. Signal strength is excellent; I'm really pleased. Upgrade the drivers from the Trendnet site for best results.
