I was suitable, and the replacement drive worked no prob.

These drives are remarkable rapid. At this price tag I purchased two and run them in a raid . 6MB/s ATA is good. Noisy. When i initial installed them i almost ripped them off to return them. I followed the guidelines to back up my old drive, it corrupted my C: drive and it took me 2 days to get points straightened out.Drive=GoodSoft wear=BAD! Worked good correct out of the box.Not sure why some consider it noisy.Of course my case fans are a tiny noisy and that may be why I don't hear it but I don't think so. Definitely none. Be confident you have a serial port readily available and order serial cable for this drive if you don't have a single on hand,also if its your initial serial device and you don't have appropriate connection on your PSU you might have to purchase Molex 4-Pin to SATA energy connector.

SSD or RAID were out due to budget restrictions, so this is fairly honestly the ideal bang for the buck I could have gotten. The drive DOES make some noticeable noise whilst operating. I liken this much more to the motion of the drive heads across the platters as opposed to the rotation of the platters themselves. I suppose it could get annoying so I'm listing it as a con, but it's genuinely absolutely nothing new to me. I've noticed this elsewhere in the critiques: This drive has a ridiculous quantity of unusable space, 44 GBs to be precise (for me at least). I know that any drive cannot shop exactly the quantity of information it's listed to store, but a 44 GB drop is kinda... out there. Just one thing to take into consideration.

Cant beat the price tag anywhere else if u want speed that contains a 64mb cache and 7200 rpm. Ive looked. Ive heard that Sata 3sƖ.0gbs) dont go with these kind of tough drives but what the hell, i got two spots open. Ive owned WD, Seagate, Hitachi HDs and my WD's where the only HD that didnt let me down.

The price was great for the size. six.0Gb/s is good even if it doesn't make a huge difference in actual transfer speed. Haven't had any troubles with reliability as of but. This factor is loud! The computer sounds like a microwave cooking popcorn anytime it reads or writes. That's why I took off a single egg.

I was gonna get the three.0Gb/s version, but this was on sale for the identical value. Runs pretty quick with all that Cache memory. Caviar Blacks are very reliable.
