Don't get fooled into thinking that you'll get 6Gb/sec
Pros: Quieter, cooler, and lower power than previous model Comment:
This is the replacement for the highly rated WD6401AALS model. Compared to the WD6401AALS, this model uses less power, is a little quieter, and runs somewhat cooler. The access times (as tested using HD Tune) are about the same. However, realize that the 6Gb/sec transfer rate is a marketing gimmick -- no mechanical hard disk will ever saturate even a 3Gb/sec (SATA II) interface. Hopefully this drive will be as reliable as the model it replaced. |

Got it because it was a black edition WD people rave a lot about.Can't really find much faults with it other than it works. Maybe a little louder when seeking, but not exactly noticeable inside a case.price could be better considering 1tb prices currently. |

I love this drive. I have used plenty of WD hard drives in the past and this is by far the fastest HD I've used. For the price, you can't beat the large cache size and with SATA3 this baby flies. My only gripe with this is the noise, it's decently loud when it's reading or writing; this is a very minor detail however. |

- A bit noisier but nothing like some people make it out to be. - 64MB cache doesn't make too much of a difference from the 32MB version
Pros: - Very fast compared to my old 500GB WD Blue.- Low price and a lot of storage compared to SSD- Backwards compatible to SATA 2 Comment:
Used this in building my first computer and couldn't be more pleased. Windows 7 starts up lightning fast on this drive and no issues with it being compatible on my SATA 2 mobo. |
got 3 of these i raid 0 for a week now and wow super fast!!realy like them!! would buy again for sure!!
