Really nice HDD it does what it is supposed to do and is rather swift about it. It isnt a SSD When installing on the Asus Ramapage three Formula it wont recognize it if this is not your boot drive and you have these on SATA III you have to go into your drive manager and configure them just so you all know.

Fantastic drive for WHS OS drive None I've generally been a WD fan boy! I almost generally loyal to 1 brand un-less/Un-till they do me incorrect. WD has always been a very good brand for me.

Affordable, very great speed, massive cache. Chatters too considerably - typical of these WD drives I guess. I had started employing it as a primary OS drive that contained every little thing, but all of the head chattering was annoying. Now I use it as a data & app drive that compliments my 60GB SSD which holds my OS (Win7Ultimateኜ). A lot greater!

Really fast, SATA 6 for SATA three cost. I have two of these in a RAID , and had no concerns setting up the RAID. This config makes these drives quicker than an older gen SSD I have, the only exception becoming access time goes to the SSD. Not as loud as previous reviewers mentioned, IMO. None however. If they fail, I will be bummed. I virtually only acquire Western Digital drives. I have identified them to be quite dependable in the past, hopefully these will not be an exception.

From what I've had previously (a pair of 150GB drives) this drive will give me plenty of space for a excellent long though. The access time on this monster, when paired with its developed port, is really above satisfactory. Noise, noise, and much more noise... though I'm fairly used to it and largely ignore it. Its to be expected of a high efficiency challenging disk.

Specs is excellent if it works I tried a new XP Installation using this drive, but I can't get past the format approach. When I received the drive for the very first time a week ago, I tried installing XP on it. When I reached the part exactly where the drive begins formating and after the partition creation, the formating runs Ok till it stops and XP reports a failure. I tired formatting once more, and at a different formattin point, it failed again. I returned the drive back to newegg and they sent me one more on. A related failure occured on this drive also, but at the 100% point. What's up with this model. I connected the drive to a GSATA port from my GA-X58A-UD3R motherboard (GSATA 6ǝ). I can't figure out what is wrong with this drive. I connected a 3Gb SATA drive on this very same motherboard (using the identical SATA Cable) and this mixture works fine. I usually bought HD from Western Digital, but I am losing faith on their drives because of this most up-to-date issue

Runs wonderful. Haven't performed any tests with it. noisy. reminds me of the old tough drives that generally make noise when in use of reading or writing. It appears frequent with platter tough drives, just some are more noticable than others. Difficult to describe the sound. Its not overbearing unless you expect silence, but noticeable.

Ordered 2 of these drives with the highest of hopes. Both arrived incredibly effectively packed in a enormous amount of bubble wrap. 1 drive works fantastic with the exception of becoming a little loud at time but the second one was the runt of the litter. So looks like i have 1 excellent drive and one poor drive as my initial encounter with WD hard drives. 1 drive came with bad sector window will not install on it and will not format it either if it had not arrived in the exact same box as the superior one i would say it was dropped but looks like WD failed on this one. Seeking to start off the return method in the morning certain with quality manage was a little much better.

It seems to work fairly fast, my CPU never actually has to function as 100% loading most issues which may possibly be bottle-necking in the HDD i don't genuinely know enough to say. No problems installing the hardware or the OS. The noise was not deafening, but the continuous clicking noise was audible sufficient to annoy anyone with a desire for quietness (like me). My previous hard drive did not make any noise and it was just as fast. Until it died.

Great drive, transfer rates of over 100 MB/s with no problems, quick access time, and it's fairly quiet (which surprised me). This drive is actually quieter then my other Caviar Black (also a 640gb, but only the SATA-II model), and faster due to the new SATA-III controller. It does run a tad hotter, but never exceeds 35 C. Highly recommended drive.

Well this is Western Digital hdd so I know by experience that they have great customer support, tough hard drives with great speed and nice prices. I would recommend this for sure.
