7200RPM, 1TB, Excellent size Cache, Decent cost. Western Digital Brand (Which was a pro of the past...) Purchased 4, 1 failed in a weak. Funny that 25% of the reviewers on this product are complaining of tough drive failure. So with me acquiring four, and their overview percentages you have about a 1 in four opportunity of this being a undesirable hard drive for you. To me, specially with really hard drives, that is unacceptable numbers. Luckily I had them in RAID 10 so unless an additional goes ahead of my replacement gets here, I ought to be protected.

The value was right on the drive when I was searching for a secondary to house all my media and documents. Installed and migrated all the data just fine Booted the Computer this morning and the drive wasn't getting detected by Windows or BIOS. Immediately after trying unique cables, it turned out the difficult drive wasn't spinning (DEAD). I lost every little thing that I believed would have been secure on a newer difficult drive that wouldn't be accessed as substantially as the main. I'm very disappointed with the top quality of WD's products as of late, so I'll be looking into other brands now.

Pretty low cost [especially for a trusted brand]QuickQuietFabulous packaging from NeweggEffortless set up. I had it up and running within minutes 1TB is the maximum capacity for a WD Blue. Although not seriously a con, I just wish they had these offered in 2TB. If you want bigger than 1TB, go with a Green or Black This is honestly the preferred difficult drive obtainable for just about any Computer user out there. Its got plenty of storage for all of your wants. Its particularly economical, yet reliable. This difficult drive is perfect for a develop or for added storage. Honestly, you can't go wrong with this price tag. Like I talked about prior to; if they had these attainable bigger than 1TB, I would pick up a couple far more.

Cost. Capacity. Western Digital. The drive was faulty. Effectively recognized by the BIOS of my ASUS Crosshair Formula IV MB. Adequately recognized by Windows 7 Ultimate 64. Able to initialize and bring the drive on-line. Unable to format the drive or any partitions even after numerous attempts in 3 diverse machines. In the end, the drive failed all Information Lifeguard tests. Just got a undesirable unit this time around.RMA in progress. Thank you Newegg for your great RMA help. I do not like leaving poor reviews. Specially considering that this is the first Western Digital drive I have ever had DOA in over 15 years of employing their items. My luck had to run out at some point. So my rating is for the distinct drive I received. I do not intend it as a rating on Western Digital merchandise. ALL Consumer GRADE HDD's ARE Topic TO FAILURE NO MATTER WHO Tends to make THEM. I nevertheless favor Western Digital HDD's more than any other brand and I will be replacing this drive with another a single from them. On the other hand this time it will be a Black 640GB and not a Blue. I commonly only acquire Black drives anyway.A single bad unit above 15 years is nonetheless pretty impressive numbers if you ask me.

Functions exactly as you would expect. I haven't had any read errors in the time I've had it. I can hear the drive spin up but noise is not an situation. Will take a couple of seconds to spin up due to the fact I use this as a storage drive. Seems even longer since I'm utilized to SSDs for OS and Apps. You get what you spend for, significant stable slow drive.

New egg's delivery is good! Bought the 1t wd HD for my nephew's computer,, NO sensible errors like some get. Drive operates excellent! No tracking like Tiger Direct. I wouldn't run a 1 terabyte drive as a principal drive, wonderful for dumping data on. For those getting Wise concerns,, are you operating Intel? In no way had complications operating on AMD systems. Getting the fastest method isn't necessarily the SMARTest selection :p .For durability, reliability, and performance, do your research very carefully, and ya can't go by benchmarks, most depends on what the user does with his/her pc.

This drive has been the perf bottleneck in my machine and as such has been beaten into the ground. It's performed nicely so far. None yet. I have some very old disks which have also been beaten quite badly, I'm convinced that the principal lead to of disk failure is overheating. I generally point fans at all my disks even if I have to hack up the case to do it.

Silent, actually uses the total 3gbps that it has in contrast to some seagates "rated" at 3gbps. This does not die incredibly rapidly and is quite reputable as all WD harddrives i have had in the previous. A little slow, but that is only associated to the 3gbps transfer rate when compared to the 6gbps. I do not however personal a single, but I have applied a single on loan from a friend to replace my dead WD800 80gb that has been in continuous use due to the fact 2000 and died two weeks ago. But the blue 1tb I am borrowing has lasted my friend for three years now without having showing signs of faltering, the only danger I have with the 1 I ordered is it becoming DOA.I ordered a single since my 250gb seagate (and all previous seagates) have failed horribly in a matter of anyplace from two seconds to 6 hours, at least I had warning of my WD failing and it lasted for 2 months soon after showing serious symptoms. And people today want to quit saying "WD sucks since this 1 drive I have just purchased is DOA", men and women will need to quit mainly because WD does not have handle over the shipping process! Read the shipping information for UPS, it says that all objects "are succeptible to a 6 foot drop at any time".Again, I have not but received my harddrive but have been working with 1 for 2 weeks has been very good for 3 years prior to that.

Western Digital has a relatively discomfort-totally free RMA method to accompany their three-year warranty. The only down side to obtaining a defective drive is the reality that you're essential to pay shipping to send the drive off before receiving one that performs. Also, all factors viewed as, Western Digital offers some of the finest rates on mechanical drives. I had replaced the tough drive with a brand new WD so that I could sell the personal computer. The client later returned the pc to buy a new HP computer system. Even though attempting to back up files, the method would hang and give errors about "disk not identified" and such. Intelligent test failed on all 3 levels such as writing zeros. Luckily we caught it just before the drive got any worse.

Value, Brand. Out of 3 drives, two failed through the first 24 hours. Initial failure was RMAd, replacement drive also failed inside the 1st day. Will not be getting again, at least not through newegg.I also bought a caviar green 1TB earlier this year which failed in the first day. The RMA replacement also failed.I am usually confident in the Western Digital line of drives, but with a fourǛ failure rate on new drives...

it was up and running quickly at first. Sensible failed within a weeks time and had to send back. The drive function was nonetheless working but it wouldn't defrag or let me scan it without having failing. I also got a 10K RPM raptor for my OS and it worked fine. I sent it back for a return and had to reload windows and lost most of my files i backed up on the 1T WD that failed. This is my 1st time constructing a system and so far every little thing else is operating. Specs. Win7 I5 3.22GHZ8G RamTwin Frozier 460 fermi 768M HD vid card- New egg hasn't recieved my RMA but so far the return course of action was straightforward.

Cost This is the second Western Digital Blue internal tough drive I have bought in two months. Each Drives have anything wrong with the bios on the drive. I had a buddy that has the computer software rebuild the first ones bios and it worked flawlessly afterwards. I can only hope he can do the same with this 1. This is really rediculous!! This is not the fault of Newegg. They have often been great. Super quickly shipping. excellent prices. These harddrive producers have extremely poor top quality control any longer. Remember back in the days when you could actually depend on a WD or Seagate drive to be the very best in the market location? What happened to those firms?

Quite excellent price tag for size. Does not make any noise at all. Fast shipping, arrived in four days. This is nearly the exact same as the 640gb HP sends out in their computer, cache is diverse. Missing older energy connection port. Bare signifies bare, there had been no mounting screws in the box! The box was plain without having any WD packing. Actual size is 931gb immediately after formating. You would think it would be standard to contain mounting screws but not that huge a deal a guess. Took about two hours to transfer 247gb from usb 2..

Purchased 2 drives for a RAID, one was DOA, the other reported a S.M.A.R.T. event instantly right after setting up it then died, paid shipping to return, received replacements, one particular ok the other reported a S.M.A.R.T. occasion following 1 day. Really should I give Newegg an additional opportunity?
