Very fast (2-platter). Goes up to 130MB/s according to HD Tach. It's also very quiet, at least when idle, a little louder when seeking. Vibration level is low. My only complaint is the Hitachi 7K1000.C goes on sale for $50 all the time, but never this one.

I've got two in RAID1 and love them.

It only has 32 MB cache compared to the 64 MB that the Black has, but the difference has very little impact on real-life performance. Quiet, cool, and reliable.
Walden_H@NCIX Rating: Review Date: 10/13/10	Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" SATA 3.0Gb/s Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive Cons: only 3 year warranty Pros: lots of space, Very fast, runs cool and quiet Comment: This drive is awesome, It's actually 3 mbps faster then the 1TB WD Black(111 mbp/s vs 108 mbp/s) and with two of them in RAID0 I get 196 mbp/s! the only difference I can see between this blue drive and the black is that the black has longer warranty. These drives run very quietly, they are quieter then my previous 5400 rpm drives and they run cooler, at only about 31C.

Very quick. Cannot hear them. Do not know about heat, but don't think this will be a problem (more so with the black). These drives are totally under-rated. Highly recommended.

Comment: This is a great hard disk with tons of space. Doesn't vibrate much, but on the other side, you can hear the hard disk spinning (due to the motor or the platters inside?), so it's not totally silent, but you just have to bear with it, it's a 7200rpm Blue hard disk with 32mb of cache, and since it's Western Digital, you get to have AAM feature which is nice when you turn it on to Silent mode (more silent seek noise)

I do know the Blue drives are usually pretty fast, run fairly cool and are fairly quiet.Highly recommended. Western Digital makes the best hard drives in my opinion. Have yet to have a problem with a WD HDD.
