Value. Usually high top quality I constantly test new hard drives working with HD tune and this drive initially passed. This drive was to be employed for storage so I partitioned the drive and decided to develop a disk image of the main drive on it. As I added information to it, the drive started to take errors so I ran WD's DLGDIAG test exactly where I identified various bad blocks. I had to RMA the drive. When installing this drive I would run a full test on the drive prior to putting important information on it.

the price is as close to the butter zone as you can get. maybe 50-59 would be ideal for 1tb, but you cant sneeze at the price tag and efficiency of the drive. cache & rpm are a superior set none to speak of. if the 2tb drive(s) would be closer to the value...that would be good to see. hopefully that trend will take place in the subsequent couple of months.

I can't feel of anything positive to say about a harddisk that breaks soon after three months. Have to give it 1 egg as rating, would have given zero if doable. Disk stopped working soon after precisely 3 months - piece of junk.

Does specifically what it's supposed to do. It's low-cost and has lots of storage space. It's also quiet, even when writing and reading information.Completely no complications with it following over 6 months of use. A small slow, but I knew that when I purchased it. cost is fair. drive is quickly and quiet. installed in usb three. enclosure, works flawlessly. none couldn't be happier. really pleased with newegg.

Passed WD Diagnostic initially Copy a few gig of data unto the drive and it begins grinding noises. 3 consecutive drives all dying the exact same way? I have never had so significantly issues w/ a HD. What type of ju nk is WD pumping out these days! I'm spending far more shipping these drives back then I did in purchasing them in the initial location. I have another drive arriving tomorrow.. What are the odds it will have the exact same failure?

RMA procedure simple. Failed WD diagnostic. Excellent notion to test these drives just before putting alot of information on them. I wish WD would get some top quality control on their drives.

The replacement seems OK. Bought 3 of these (two green, 1 blue). The blue one was DOA. 1 of the green ones was full of unrepairable sectors. The other green 1 works, but makes more noise than it should. Newegg handled the return pretty nicely on this one. Shipping was fairly slow although.

i am not recomend this item for any 1 becasue i bought the 1st 1 and it was broke, i ask to replace yet another one then i use is for 2 months now it was broke too, you greater invest in the caviar blue 640GB. by no means ever purchase 1 TB caviar blue guys. don't even acquire this item was bad sector

Works ideal, no complications installing. None. Made an Image file with ATI2011, restored it, every little thing was transferred. Employed in Vista-Ultimate-32Replaced a 1_day_old_Seagate with 67 re-allocated sectors.(I got that DEC-2010 and never used it.) Bummer.

Ample space at a reasonable value. The drive failed immediately after 4 months though it did it in "slow-motion" giving me fair warning following the POST (bad Smart) to back-up the data prior to complete failure. WD has been good about honoring the warranty - a new drive is on the way (Caviar Black). The 500Gb Caviar Blue I bought at the exact same time is still operating strong. I'd chock this up to simple "infant mortality". It pays to have many HD's in a technique for just such an eventuality even if it is unused space.

Inexpensive, fairly great features for value (Cache), SATA 1 out of 2 applied in QNAP iSCSI NAS died in less than a week. Hate to give it a 1 egg rating and I probably wouldn't have if it was just DOA. But the reality that it worked for a number of days before just straight up failing a Smart test left me with no option. TS-219P w/ two of these in a RAID for expendable backup NAS working with BESR. In no way even completed a single backup operation prior to failing. Expect this to take place in several years, not on first backup.

excellent price and quicker than expected delivery. Quiet enough for me. Died following about 6 months. Some concerns with MB not recognizing. Installed SATA card to remedy. Pretty rapidly following that till she passed away last week. WD had me run tests w/out luck. RMA with a Cavier Black-upgrade, so I can't complain too much. HD is in the mail, let's hope it makes it past 6 months...

Smooth, quick, decent access speeds, good price. None actually. It would be good if it were 6gb SATA, but it's not and it's low cost. 5.9 on Win7 WEI as a single drive in AHCI mode, which is regular for SATA drives.

NONE Nicely, I got mine with all my other stuff to create my new laptop or computer and this drive was the only 1 that was DOA. Buddy of mine got one identical day I did, similar thing DOA. Got the RMA from newegg, sent mine back, got the replacement from UPS nowadays :( DOA again... Formats fine, quiet, BUT when I started putting stuff on it, I got the dreaded Intelligent Failure errors.... Not Going for a 3rd times a charm here....

What can I say, it's a tough drive. None that I can think of. In no way had an issue with WD. Have one operating 24ǝ뤅 for 5 years now and no problems.

gobs of disk space, WD sent RMA replacement in just a few days. failed after 6 weeks and only about a dozen boot cycles I'll have to wait and see if the replacement is better than the original.

Good challenging drives with identified reliability. I ordered two of these drives and 1 came DOA. I would have rated it less on most other brands assuming it to be more of a common, but I know superior with Western Digital.Still, shame on you W.D.! Realistically, I will still purchase W.D. drives once more as I have utilized their drives "almost" exclusively for 14+ years.

i bought this drive as a boot and storage drive for a computer that i had laying around, i bought and used this drive because of the price point, also why would ui use a smaller drive for a little less money than a one tb drive for a little more. i really like the blue series for western digital. i have bought 2 250 2 500 and one tb drive. i really like western digital drives. buy it now an pm the hell out of it.

Bought this (like others have said) because it's almost the performance of the Black and almost the price of the Green. Looked at the numbers and the Green isn't that much more eco friendly anyways. I'm happy with it and haven't noticed much noise from at all, so I'd definitely buy another.
