Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB 3.5" SATA 6.0Gb/s Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
Cons:none.size/price i guess
Pros:-no problems so far, -speed as advertised Comment:
I made a mistake of not looking around abit more for a harddrives when i build my system. I wish I had gotten a F3 for 5$ more at their prices back then (F3 was on a bigger special), I recommand getting whatever that has good reviews (not just user reviews) and is on the biggest special. |

Comment:
paying 39.99$ for 500gb are ok. not quite rapidly but not slow ether, you can't complain for what you pay. simple to instal and use. suggested for home builders comps, im mean each and every day use, even play hd video or play some games, but not for high performance. zero cons |

Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB 3.5" SATA 6.0Gb/s Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
Cons:-none
Pros:-proven reliable 7200rpm drive-price-sata connection Comment:
These blue drives are the standard 7200rmp drives that have been in use for years, and used to be the standard for gaming builds before black/ssd drives came out. Personally I use black drives for the added speed and reliability, but these blue drives are still solid choices for budget/basic use. |

For the price I didn't expect this to feel as fast as my Black drive from the same manufacturer. It's pretty quiet too compared. I would buy again for a budget build. |

Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB 3.5" SATA 6.0Gb/s Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
Cons:none
Pros:Inexpensive, quiet, good performance Comment:
Bought this for a budget new build that does not require large amount of storage, as I have an inventory of networked external drives already. It certainly does the job for a small outlay. Drive is surprisingly quiet and offers reasonable performance for a mechanical drive. WD has always given me confidence and I am expecting no less for this new drive. Highly recommended for a budget build. |

Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB 3.5" SATA 6.0Gb/s Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
Cons:Failed First Format (See Notes Below)
Pros:Super quiet: no clicks, whirrs, or squeals.Good PerformancePassed Second Format (See Notes Below) Comment:
I usually fill every new hard drive I get with zeros (full format not quick). This is the best indicator to know if a drive is faulty. I did the first format under Windows 7 Disk Manager. It got to around 30% and said format failed. I then tried it one more time with Windows Explorer (under My Computer) and it passed. I'm going to not RMA but I am going to be weary about it. I'm going to do another test and use HD Tune Pro to do a full check for bad sectors. |

Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB 3.5" SATA 6.0Gb/s Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
Cons:Lesser performance than Blacks, obviously.
Pros:Great performance:price ratio.Fairly silent. Realiable.Cheap as hell. Comment:
I've managed to price match this down to $34.99 which is, frankly, quite a steal. I've owned several Caviar Black hard drives (the newest 6 Gbps model) and I'm pleasantly surprised about this Blue. The Blacks are awfully loud; this one is fairly silent. While there is an obvious difference of few seconds in the time taken to load Windows or maps in a game, this hard drive provides a great value for the money ina budget build. I would choose Western Digital over any other brand for their proven realiability. This is my 8th WD drive and all are still alive except of a very old Raptor one. I've owned about 4 Seagate drives and two out of them show signs of fatigue. |

Pros: price, brand, size Comment:
This is a verry good value for money HDD. You can't go wrong with Western Digital Hard Drive. My computer still use the Raptor74gb 8-9 years later and my computer is 24/7The hard drive is inaudible and is faster that I would have think. |

Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB 3.5" SATA 6.0Gb/s Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
Cons:
none
Pros: Great drive and great price. Comment:
Need a new OS drive and for the price you couldn't beat it. Much quieter and faster then my old 250 WD drive from 5 years ago. |
It came in a shiny bag. When powered on it began to make a tinny rattle sound. Immediately after 10 seconds it began to smoke in the location of the drives. At 15 seconds I couldn't breathe. I will check to see what the problem is and total the assessment. It could be the rattle and smoke are unrelated.
