I've had 1 of these for at least a year and a half, a different two for almost two months (I migrated to software RAID 5) and a fourth for about a week (all four now set up in a software program RAID ten). Its a really very good value for its size I've had this in its original package on a shelf trigger I was waiting for my old HDD to fail as it was displaying indicators of it when I ordered this factor. 3 months later I finally get a chance to install it and It doesnt function. It shows up in Bios but the Drive is just fully dead. So not only do I have my failed drive but I now have a new drive thats just sitting subsequent to it in its bag. I dont even know what to do now simply because its beyond its RMA period. Follow your guts and dont ignore it.

It was DOA. No dilemma although, I got a far better deal for a 1TB 7200 RPM drive 3 days later on Newegg. They RMA it for free. DOA Not a bad brand, but it was DOA.

Nothing at all DOA--however I did not get this installed inside 30 days so could not send back to Newegg. So sent it back to WD, they said they by no means got it so will not send me a replacement. So will contact and complain to BBB and will carry as far as I have to. WD is a terrible manufacturer and now have junk products.

Superior value for a 500gb tricky drive I ordered two challenging drives. 1 was fine but a single showed up in the bios at initial but following a couple of reboots it produced a unusual noise and no longer showed up in the bios. I hadn't even formatted it but. The replacement Newegg sent is working.
