Good little drive for 500 GB. It's very quiet. I put it in a Accom External enclosure and it sits on my desk, I cannot hear the drive working away. Whisper quiet and read and writes at a decent rate when using it for an USB external drive. Drive is also very cool (temp) while transferring large amounts of data. Great drive! |

I purchased 2 of these drives to use in a raid0 setup. I have been extremely pleased with the fast access times and extremley quiet operation. I will definatley purchase more of these drives when i build my Dlink NAS box in the near future. price/performace per meg is hard to beat. |

Haven't had any issues whatsoever with this drive. It is certainly more quiet than my old 7200.8 Seagate, and outperforms it too. Would prefer to get an SSD but this will do great for my main partition for now. |

On my xp parition, on some certain things I do, like opening itunes, it makes a high pitched sound when reading. Other than that it's pretty good. I turned on AAM and now it's completely silent with very minimal loss in performance. |

I needed a hard drive, I NEEDED a SATA hard drive, this one was on sale, has sufficient capacity for what i currently need. it was a no-brainier, never had an issue with a WD hard drive before, and i expect this to be no exception either, still works after 2 weeks. not much to say aside from that, benchmark tests show it to be comparable to a 1tb drive a friend has. so i foresee no problems. |

I bought three of these drives from NCIX over the past 2 years. One of the drives (1 year old) just died on me and Western digital refused RMA even though my serial number online says its under warranty. They asked me for my proof of purchase but I never keep receipts for more than a year. |

No S.M.A.R.T. warnings or errors yet, it's now been about 3 months.When these go on sale they're often the best per gigabyte value on NCIX.Would recommend to anyone looking for affordable gigabytes without the need for anything fancy. SATA2 is backwards compatible with SATA. |

A no-frills drive that does the job admirably. Is certainly not the loudest component in the PC, even while seeking. Stays decently cool. I couldn't get SmartFan to detect its S.M.A.R.T. settings, even though the BIOS setting for that is enabled. might need to switch to another SATA channel. All-in-all, does the job nicely. The in-store sale price couldn't be beat either!
