I didn't shed any information - that's genuinely the only excellent factor I can say about it. Slow, loud, clicks a lot, and appears to pause frequently. Several users appear to attribute this to OS X power saving settings. I utilised this for about 7 months in two distinct Macbook Pro 13s and was in no way pleased with it. I lately replaced it with a 1 TB Samsung drive. I didn't really understand how bad it was till I compared it with the new Samsung that is significantly quieter and more rapidly. It's achievable I got a bad drive - I'll almost certainly RMA it with the manufacturer - I don't trust it as a backup drive. |

Exact replacement for a buddy's laptop that crashed when it was dropped. Not the drive's fault. Immediately after an uncomplicated installation and restore it ran quietly and swiftly as ahead of. The BPVT model went on sale the exact same week I purchased this, I went for original replacement BEVT but it would have been nice to have tried the advanced format model in particular when it was 5 bucks less expensive. No massive deal. |

I have two of these Tricky Drives. These HD's are still going powerful with just about every day usage. Not numerous people today can say they have 1TB of HD space in their laptop. :D Nothing to say right here... I'm usually a Seagate HD buyer (because of their 5 year warranty) but at the time, Western Digital was the only manufacture that had a 500GB HD that had a much better lower profile to fit inside my Laptop's second drive bay for a sensible price tag. Now, I'm thinking of purchasing a couple of a lot more of these to commence out fresh in my Laptop simply because the cost is just a bit under 11 cents a GB... |

I use these in all of my silent desktop builds. They have low noise and heat, and in my opinion, last longer than traditional drives. want to make/buy the suitable mount to use in a desktop program. |

Specs are decent. Good cost. Soon after getting my own issues with this drive and trying to resolve them, I've found a lot of Macbook Pro owners have the similar signs and symptoms- slow efficiency and frequent stalling although typing. I applied the hdapm utility to and it appears to have helped, but I wish the drive wouldn't trigger these issues out of the box. I don't believe the drive is faulty, I consider the difficulty is just element of the style. I've been operating it for about a week and whilst it appears I've worked the difficulties out, but I'm nonetheless thinking it might be superior to just get one more drive. There are a lot of drives in the same cost point with the very same capacity. These issues may only be with particular MBP's, and Windows machines could be fully unaffected. |

Wonderful HDD for the price. Functions nicely in a Playstation 3 program and a Dell Studio laptop. Simple to set up. Lots of space for the value. Slightly louder than others when in a PS3 but other than that none. Ideal HDD upgrade for older model PS3 systems and laptops. |

- fantastic efficiency for a 5400RPM tough drive- Very inexpensive for the size that it delivers!- overall good challenging drive for my Acomdata external USB two. enclosure - spins down often in my enclosure, even though I turned off its idle timer. I don't know if it's the drive or the Acomdata enclosure that causes this. This is an overall solid tough drive and has held up wonderful in my Acomdata enclosure. Even so, I can't completely disable the spindown function, even right after connecting it to my desktop and operating WDIDLE3 /d. At this point I can't tell if it's the difficult drive itself that is nonetheless configured to spin down right after roughly 30 seconds, or if it's my Acomdata enclosure that does this to all SATA drives that are connected to it.In spite of this drawback, I want to get one particular of these for the subsequent laptop that I pick! |

Decent speed, 500GB capacity, low power usage. Western Digital has wonderful reliability A lot more high-priced than 3.5' counter parts Bought two of these for a RAID 1 array in a property file server for 1 user. So I dont need to have high I/O throughput. I dropped thses in a mATX case with a 3.five to 2.5 adapter |

Quiet and a fantastic cost. Lag when it sleeps, for instance if you are watching a movie and you pause it, it will take a couple seconds to begin back up. Nothing that seriously effects efficiency nonetheless. General, speeds are very good and transferring files is rapidly and smooth. |

Simple set up. Rapidly ship date Bought this HD for my son's Dell Vostro laptop in January to increase the capacity. In addition inceased the Memory. On Thursday less then 4 months its dead. The HD started "motor boating". I removed the HD, reinstalled, tightened screws - nonetheless poor. Installed the old "saved" HD. Laptop boots up no problem. Warranty out with Newegg, now have to deal with WD. Don't have the luxury so I purchased a new Segate HD from Newegg. Will see how extended this a single lasts. Really, really, strongly disappointed with the WD Hard Drive. Thought I was shopping for excellent got hosed. |

Affordable drive, silent, decently swift for what it is. Failed following 660 energy on hours, negative sectors. If you are operating a Mac then it will make stuttering difficulties if you don't use hdapm to set it to max efficiency because of how over-aggressive Apple is with their head parking. |

- Speedy- Lots of space None that I can feel of for what I'm making use of it for. I purchased this as a replacement for my PS3 as the 120GB wasn't cutting it anymore. Immediately after looking around I discovered this seemed to be the HDD of option. It has slowed down the menu loading and some download titles on my PS3 but that's because the PS3 Slims now store the firmware on the HDD and not on the board anymore. |
