AMD's Beast
Comment:
I am running this on a GIGABYTE GA-MA790X-UD4P motherboard, with 4 Gigs of A-Data 800 mhz RAM and a XFX 4870 1 Gig graphics card... this system chews up everything. I play Crysis at 1280x800 resolution maxxed out with AA, no slow down at all. I upgraded from an AMD Phenom II x2 550 cpu and I noticed the difference in everything. Currently I have a mild overclock to 3.6 ghz (240 FSB x 15 multi) which needed no overvolting to achieve, I like that. Running benchmarks at higher settings (3.8 ghz and above with a FSB up to 280) required a lot of voltage and didn't improve much of anything. I saw no increase in gaming at all. A note about RAM clocking: faster speed requires to lower the timings and basically negates the affect of the faster speed. I ran my 800 RAM at 1100 but since I have to put my timings from 5-5-5-15 to 7-7-7-21 I saw no speed increase whatsoever.

I've had this processor for a few weeks now, and can only say positive things about it! I switched from a Pentium IV to this and way faster processor. It's great with a killer GPU, and sort of bummed that the 965 came out just after I got this and didn't know about it, but AWESOME cpu and the price so much better than Intel! Thanks AMD

Screaming Performance and Speed
Comment:
I contacted AMD and this is what they said The CPU actually supports as high as DDR3 1333 if the motherboard supports it (DDR2 1066 included). The memory controller in AMD Phenom processors may de-clock the RAM speed due to compatibility between the motherboard, RAM and the processor. The de-clocking of you RAM is also designed to increase stability in your system. Changing the BIOS values back to 1066 could cause system instability, but in most cases it works perfectly fine. We suggest you ensure that the RAM you are using is compatible and tested with the motherboard. Be aware that some motherboards may indicate that DDR2-1066 RAM can run only with 2 sticks in dual channel configuration, some with only 1. The processor itself will be able to run as many as 4 sticks at the max rated speed. im still waiting for reply from ASUS for my M4N78 PRO Motherboard that only gives blue screens on anything past 800mhz AMD's reply was next to instant fastest service and best quality

AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition 3.2GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor
Cons:Not really a weakness but horrible...horrible stock HSF.

Pros:It's a beast.
Comment:
Awesome CPU paired with an MSI 790FX-GD70, this thing rocks. Backing up my DVD movies is a piece of cake for this beast, what would take me 2 hours on a C2D takes this bad boy 15 mins. I love it. Crappy stock HSF though ... I think my lawn mower is quieter ...

Best Processor I ever had !!!
Comment:
This is the best performing CPU I ever had. Build the machine for Gaming/Processing stuffs. PROS - True Quad Experience with 64Bit Computing - Extreme Overclocking capablitities - Directly link for DD3 Memory. CONs- - Cooling requirements especially when overclocking. Stock Fan might not very much help. - Noisy FA Other Thoughts - Initially ordered this Denb 955 processor for the AM2+/AM3 asus board M4A78E. However this processor being relatively new did not support the board with out the BIOS update. I had to exchange the board for the ASUS M4A78T-E. Worked right away out of the box. For DIYs, there is not a lot of boards to support AM3 955s out of the box without a BIOS update so, make sure you find the right AM3 motherboard and the DDR3 memory module for the right compatibility at the manufacturers compatibility listing. Overall extra-ordinary processor. Fusion Technology with Phenom IIs 790GX Chipset with ATI Radeon Graphics is simply amazing.

AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition 3.2GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor
Cons:heat, stock fan is loud

Pros:Fast, reasonable price compared to intel offerings
Comment:
An absolutely amazing chip, especially for the price, you won't find anything in the intel line comparable at this price point. I definitely recommend getting a different CPU cooler though, the stock fan that I'm running now runs at around 6500RPM at full speed and can get obnoxiously loud, I would not recommend using the stock cooler and springing the extra for a third party cooler. Otherwise just an obnoxiously fast chip at a great price, love it.

Cons:Runs hot at 5GHZ+ ratings

Pros:Very fast, runs stable even at overclocked ratings
Comment:
This is definately one of the best-highly processors out to date. It completely outmatches the I7 at speed and memory cache. Overclocked it with a ultra cool Gigabyte motherboard to 5GHZ with water and air cooling at Stable.Love the unlocked multiplier.

The best AMd CPU!
Comment:
Although I've seen it at a lower price else where, I chose this store because of their fast delivery. Had to update BIOS for it to read faster than a 1.8MHz & a quad core, but after that it was a monster. Along with an EVGA GTX 260, I can throw Cryostasis, or Supreme Commander F.A. without a problem.

AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition 3.2GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor
Cons:Stock fan not good for overclocking, but works for stock - Amd Phenom II 965 comming out soon

Pros:Fast - Power saving when idle - Amd Overdrive when combined with 7XX-Series AMD Chipsets - Price drop  soon!!
Comment:
Great stuff, I bought mine with corsair ram, and a MSI 790FX-GD70 (greatest motherboard ever!!!). I underclocked mine on light use to 0.785Vc800mhz . Until now it ran most games c highest settings, or slightly less (with 4870 512mb). A must buy unless you buy the 965 when it releases. Also Ncix.com is the best :D This review was modfied by poster @ 07-02-09 06:14 AM

OVER CLOCKS EASY
Comment:
This is a fast cpu and you cant beat the price compared to Intel . I am using the Asus M4N82 Deluxe Mb SLI Certified with an Nvidia Geforce GT 295 and a new WD Raptor 10,000 rpm and two WD 750 gbs hard drives . with an ultra chill tec cooler it's over clocked to 3.753.11gbs it never heats up over 42C% stays at 36% mostly very happy with it. But Intel does make a faster cpu. Overclock setting 18.50x / bus 200 N bridge around 2100 and HT 2gs didnt need to change any voltage 8gb ocz blade DDR2 ram at 800mhz clock 4-4-4-15. I would bet it would run faster with an ati gpu nNvidia is better for Intell chips but as far as I knew the gtx 295 was the best gpu out as of a month ago.

AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition 3.2GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor
Cons:Too bad they aren't a bit less expensive.

Pros:The price vs. performance ratio of these chips is just perfect.
Comment:
I paired this CPU with an ASUS M4A79T Deluxe. It has performed very well, and is quite cool. My previous processor wasn't that much slower, but the performance benefits realized with this CPU are very nice.I am a bit of an AMD fanboy, and this being AMD's top of the line CPU I couldn't resist purchasing. Especially considering it is cheaper than comparable Intel products.

This CPU is AWESOME!! It is VERY FAST!! No lag time at all! Best CPU yet from AMD. I would never spend the extra monies on ANY Intel CPU. You can get the same, and in certain instances, better performance for FAR LESS MONEY!! BUY THIS CPU!! You won't be disappointed.

Among many things my PC is composed by: Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition (upgraded from Phenom 9950) K9A2 Platinum (updated the latest bios) One 15000 RPM Fujitsu HD (Promise SAS controller build in mainboard) Lite On 4X Blue-ray Burner (I can see even pimples, and hear mistakes from recording studio. Unbelievable, but true!) 2 Radeons 4870 in CrossFire (They speak for themselves!) Vista 64 (A must have!) Creative GigaWorks' T-20 speakers (Most of the time, I feel discouraged to connect my Toslink into my Pioneer Sound System.) Acer LCD 24" monitor 1920 x 1200 (without speakers) ...

AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition 3.2GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor
Cons:Stock heatsink could have been re-worked? maybe add a couple heatpipes to it? I had this CPU running at 65 degrees with the stock HSF installed running prime95 for 8 hours, I wouldn't even attempt to overclock using the stock heatsink but I like to see how hot it gets using it.

Pros:Extremely Fast
Comment:
I'm really enjoying this CPU, It runs everything I've been able to throw at it without an issue, Runs VERY cool when paired with a Xigmatek HDT-s1283 it's idling at a cool 35 degrees, Eats anything I can throw at it for breakfast, I'm still playing around with OC'ing this and so far have it stable at 3.8Ghz

This is the best cpu ever
Comment:
I have a phenom one 9550 2.2 Gig and i took it out and put it in the server that i built. I drop the phII 955 in my workstation and man. This processor is sick. So much faster than my phI it does everything that i need to do. I use CS4 design premium and Maya 2009 and this new processor load all programs within seconds. Very smooth and very reliable. TY AMD. You're the best
