This is a fantastic processor for individuals who use Linux or Windows XP. I extremely advise this CPU for people, like my friend Steve, who don't have a lot of personal computer skills and only need a laptop or computer to do standard tasks, like net browsing on America On the web, update their status on Twitter or facebook, or play solitaire. None. Excellent alternative for people who consistently speak about acquiring a sandy bridge, but by no means quite seem prepared to pull the trigger because they are too low cost to do it.

Was in a position to unlock it's 2nd core producing it an Athlon II X2, what much more can you ask for, you get a dual core for the cost of a single core as lengthy as you have a MB that allows you do allow added cores. Runs at cool temperature with stock fan, fan itself is truly quiet, low power consumption. Supports 64 bit. Economical I feel like if we are ripping of AMD for such low priced CPU's at such good efficiency Just before YOU Purchase THIS MAKE Positive YOUR MOTHERBOARD SUPPORTS ANY Type OF CORE UNLOCKER TO GET THE MOST OUT OF IT, I Applied A "BIOSTAR A880G+ AM3 AMD 880G HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard" and was able to unlock it's 2nd core successfully. Check for MB/CPU combos, it's there and you save like บ

Unlocked to Athlon II x2 4400e for only ั None I unlocked the second core with a Biostar TA-880GM motherboard. I am using it in a budget develop running Linux Mint ten, and every thing runs wonderful. There is a threat that the second core could not unlock, but when you don't want to invest a lot cash, there is a superior opportunity that you can get about ฮ worth of further performance.

Quite capable CPU for regular household/office use. Makes for a good HTCP setup too if you're not too demanding. I applied this in a construct for my parents to use as an HTPC and so far it has been a genuine performer for them. Would not boot following trying to unlock. That having been stated, I didn't obtain it for that cause, and for the price, this processor is wonderful just as it is described, and that's all I expected from it. Still, you hope you get one that will unlock. For a affordable, easy, and successful build, this processor is the way to go. It simply outpaces my AMD FX53, which makes me a small sad that I paid so much for that just a few years ago.

Plenty rapidly and super cheap. None. I'm utilizing this in a Linux based file server I built for the house. I would also contemplate it for spending budget PCs that just need to have to surf the web, check e-mail, etc. I did not try and unlock the extra core but, but I don't definitely have a want to either.

This is the little chip that could, for me anyway. Unlocked the second core, and overclocked to three.five, stable. Fairly impressive for below ุ. Really good if you have a tight budget and dont mind overclocking. Stock heatsink seams a bit small, but its receiving the job completed I guess. Stock, its probably not the greatest value as most users will most likely want two cores.Combined with a ASRock N68C-S UCC, I got the energy of a ๛ chip out of a ๠ mobo/cpu combo. Built a Globe of Warcraft machine for below 躔.

Got it at a Excellent cost about a year ago, and bundled with a gigabyte 785 for below ninety bucks. This is an great spending budget CPU, and I was lucky sufficient to be able to unlock it to a stable dual-core. Even operating as a single core, it's SO a lot better than our old 3GHz P4. I have this running 24ǝ in a case with no fans (as a single core), and it stays Incredibly cool. In truth, I hardly ever hear the stock CPU fan power up. The P4 sounded like a jet engine as soon as I hit the energy button, then would ratchet down numerous notches as it loaded windows, but then would get louder and louder once again for the duration of use. I'm SO glad I don't have to listen to those fans attempt to cool that red hot processor any a lot more. Silence IS golden! The 140 is also considerably faster than the P4. That didn't surprise me, but what did surprise me was just how rapidly the 140 is. I got the 550 BE for our HTPC because I had read that you need to have at least a dual-core, but now I believe the 140 would have completed the job. Even if I hadn't wound up with the capability to go dual-core, I would have no complaints about this good little processor. At this price, it's tough to go wrong. Clearly not for cpu intensive tasks, but far more than enough CPU for your average computer user.

Unlocked this little guy to an Athlon X2ʂ.7Ghz employing an ASRock 880GXH/USB3. Pressure testing it in Prime95 overnight showed that its temp. peaked at 47C and stabilized at 46C utilizing the stock HSF. None that I can feel of however. Working with this CPU in an Antec 300 box with 2 exhaust fans only and no discrete GPU. I'm guessing this may affect the temp. readings somewhat. YMMV.

Low-cost The combo board has no mechanism to unlock the 2nd core. works, appears ok for ุ, - I put in 8 gigs ram (was on sale) you can truly see the lag with the single core even with so a lot ram.

Most cost-effective current-gen CPU for any platform. High clock speed. Stable. 'Chance' to unlock to a dual-core (mine did), but I'm leaving it single core until I have time to stress test it to make certain it's stable. It is completely the ideal bang for your buck in if you will need a CPU, and becoming on the AM3 platform makes it possible for you to expand later to a a lot more decked-out processor when costs drop.I used it in a starter develop for my brother. So far, he's been able to play Firm of Heroes, Minecraft, and Oblivion with incredibly playable frame rates (ㅖ and up), and his biggest limitation is the graphics. Though it might not be a gaming chip per se, it can be applied for moderate gaming if the rest of the method is up to snuff. Not at all a con given the cost point, but if there was a weakest element to this buy, it would be the heatsink. It does just fine for my brother's requirements. This is the second Sempron 140 I've bought, the first being via a various carrier that in all probability doesn't go by way of as a lot of as newegg does. That one also featured a various heatsink that from a diverse, older batch (I like the 1 I got from here far greater). That processor didn't unlock a stable core with out toning down the frequency very a bit, but I'm nonetheless happy as a clam with the performance of the single core. I'm guessing given the high turnover here, the product is constantly being refreshed with much more viable chips as the manufacturer gets additional able to produce a batch with fewer errors. If you are seeking to in fact unlock a stable core, your greatest opportunity would be to buy from whoever gets the "freshest" stock of CPUs, and that would be newegg.
