ASUS Rampage II Extreme ATX Intel Motherboard
Comment:
All the expansion slots you could want on a gaming MOBO, everything is actually uncomplicated to get to in regards to the SATA connectors, and on-board OC buttons. Haven't skilled any however! I upgraded from a Striker Extreme, and so I would have liked to see a small a lot more completed in the way of heat piping with the north-bridge and south-bridge chips. Overall a fantastic board!

ASUS Rampage II Extreme ATX Intel Motherboard
Cons: Blew up in 1 and half year of use

Pros: Very nice overclocking board
Comment:
I was really pleased with this board until this board blew up and would not work anymore.Asus warranty is very crappy... I have contacted technical support, but only answer I get is "We are too busy to take your call now, but please leave your name and number, we will call you back a.s.a.p." ... Not by automated system, but the real people... Oh ya... It's been almost day and half and no calls from them.. hahaNice blank called you back support team they have here...

ASUS Rampage II Extreme ATX Intel Motherboard
Cons: price but you pay for the best

Pros: 2 bios chips!!! and I needed themcoolingtweak itthe list goes on
Comment:
Amazing!! what else can I say? This board is awesome. I got it instead of the rampage III because the cpu socket is a little further from the edge and I needed that clearance for the cooler to fit in my antec skeleton. The 2 bios chips is a great idea! I corrupted one with a very aggressive ram setting. Wouldn't post, nothing. Just moved a jumper to boot with the other bios chip and bam, back into setup and copy the good bios to the other chip. This is a overclockers dream! The nb and sb and mosfet coolers do an very good job keeping temps down to. If you want the best x58 board you should defiantly look at this.

The best, but maybe overkill for some.
Comment:
I've had this motherboard for over a year now. I used to with my first i7 build. I must say it looks really good in my antec 900 two case. All the lights look great. Unfortunately that is the problem. This board is meant for more than just a life in a case. Sure, I overclocked my i7 920 to about 3.4GHz easy (and the bios made that really enjoyable and easy), but now it just sits in my case like a trophy. With all the capability of this thing it should be mounted on a tech station or antec's Skeleton case so that some one could do constant OC's and various tests on it. My only gripe is the sound card. It's a joke honestly. It has the outside appearance of a good sound card with out the good quality. I'd rather pay for a better one and get better sound quality. If you can afford it, get it. However, if your not a serious OC'er then just get one of the more simple motherboards. They will still overclock fine.

Great motherboard for the high end user.
Comment:
I have used alot of the motherboards, and this one is as good as any I have used. solid format, easy to overclock, and fast out of the box for those who do not want to mess with Oc'ing the motherboard. I run mine with a 975 RR chip and 12 gig DDR3 2000 mhz ram, and she gives no problems at all. I highly recommend this board.

Pros:Overclocking options are endlessTons and tons of featuresSolid quality feelAwsome look
Comment:
Awsome motherboard! Build quality is very highy, components are pretty much top notch. Overclocking is really easy, and pretty much everything can be adjusted. The multiple profiles are nice as is the increased amount of them over my other RoG board (Rampage Formula). Layout is very nice, back panel is nice and looks cool if you light it up.

Great clocker, not so great on the QC
Comment:
I am on my third board getting ready to RMA that one, the first had the memory slot issues, the second died after 6 months and had an issue with mounting the CPU securely. The third just stopped booting one day No fun at all. I do not think the price is justified based on the QC

amazing board
Comment:
I have had this board about a 1 year with a i7 920 overclocked to 3.2 speed. I have 12 ggis of ram. A gtx 295 with a 9900 zalman led for the cpu. I also have a 1000 watt ultra power in a mozart tx tower. Never had one problem yet. It works faster then any other system i've ever seen. I used to be a amd fan but not no more.

Cons:ONLY weakness =price.

Pros:Qualitybest x58 boardo.c champawsome bios featuresfree sound cardfree 3dmark vantage
Comment:
First board was pretty much a DOA board, a chip fell off so it was weird caused the duel bios to fry, HOWEVER the RMA board got here and it makes my EVGA x58 pound sand. If you guys want quality and quite possibly the BEST of the BEST x58 boards for stability and O.C functions the rampage extreme is for you. The bios has lots of tweaks and my games run like the cats meow. Its great and thank you ASUS.There are alot of boards out there atm for a near price to the rampage, but stability wise they run nf200 I do believe which is actually slower than the previous gen of boards, AKA rampage II. When this board first came out it was the best, and it still is currently any review companies "top" pick when they review another board they always compare it to the rampage, keep in mind its all opinions, but this board snagged my vote.

Tech support is horriable
Comment:
I WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER PRODUCT FROM THEM. If yo have to deal with Tech Support beware. Especially on a second rma. I was without a computer for 3 weeks because the rma'd board died.

Overpowering
Comment:
If you want one of the most powerful (if not the most powerful) motherboard made today buy this product. Once I sorted out a powersupply problem this board became easily the simplest install I've every done on PCs that I built. Everything worked the first time without a hitch. I installed 12Gb of Corsair memory, an NVidia GTX295 graphics card, RAID HDDs, DVD burners, and other assorted goodies. The only problem I had was with a power supply. I had initially tried an Ultra X3 1600W PSU. This PSU would not work with the Rampage II - no matter what I tried. I switched to a Corsair 1000W unit and from that point on everything was smooth sailing. I tried Asus tech support but they couldn't figure out why that PSU would not operate properly. Gremlins don't you know. Anyway, I would highly recommend this mobo. It has all the features a serios gamer could ever use.

Wish I could give a glowing review...
Comment:
Purchased this MoBo with high hopes, for building my I7 Quad Core powered computer. The directions were good and it went together well and looked great, however it would not boot. I called Asus customer service and reached a helpful rep who walked me through some tests and told me my board had a bad bridge and would need to be returned. When I contacted CompUSA to exchange it there were none of the same MoBo available and would not be for several weeks. I ended up going with a different board which is working great but was disappointed not to get this one.

Very High Quality Motherboard!
Comment:
I bought this motherboard less thans two weeks ago. As usual my experience with TigerDirect is 2nd to none. The motherboard is a first class board built with top of the line components. My only complaint would be the high price, but you get what you pay for. I setup my new system raid 1. From the time I built my setup to Vista premium install took less than 2 hrs. The board is the best I have seen in all of the various systems I have built for others and myself. Asus took the time and the layout was well thought out. Plenty of extra pins for fans on mobo.......excellent product!

ASUS Rampage II Extreme ATX Intel Motherboard
Cons:NorthBridge heatsink blocks an full length sound card unless you modify it.ExpensiveLegacy HD connectors (why is there a Floppy and an IDE?)It's a bit bigger than a regular ATX, check those measurements!

Pros:Well it's an ASUS. :)Seven Fan connectors!Three custom Temperature Sensors (aside from those built in)No NF200 chip (I see this as a bonus)Looks greatMore I could mention but I am tired tonight.
Comment:
ASUS is all I have ever bought but this time round I did consider EVGA and I actually took a look at Gigabyte (who chooses those colours?). I ended up being a little overwhelmed on trying to figure out which board was actually best for my needs. In the end The RampageII seemed to offer everything I think I need. The first thing I did was to remove the heatsink on the NorthBridge so I could hack the first three rows of cooling fins off of it with a hacksaw. Then a few strokes of a bastard file and it almost looks stock! I am hoping this modification will allow enough clearance for an XONAR soundcard. I'm not too thrilled with the packaged one, it looks sharp with the leds but I think it was a token bundle meant to be replaced by enthusiasts.I don't have room in my case for a larger heatsink so I am using the i7 975 stock heatsink. I think this is the best Intel heatsink I have ever seen! I might try going to water cooling as I have all the components now for overclocking.Making room, I had to cut my 3.5" mount to fit the motherboard in my small HTPC case. I also had to cut some of the fins off two of my Corsair Dominator modules. My HTPC case is really tight and you may be gambling with this board. Play it safe and get a bigger case or be prepared to do some modifications to make this fit. Personally I don't mind an hack saw, file and tinsnips make modifications easy!I am happy with my purchase, if you shop around or you bundle this you can save yourself $125. I don't plan on going for a 3way SLI or Crossfire so I am not concerned about where the PCI-E slots line up, however if I did I would need a new case. A case with 8 expansion ports on the back (I only have seven like most of you). i7 975 Extreme ProcessorASUS Rampage II ExtremeCorsair 1600 C7D timings ( 12GB )Corsair HW1000W Power SupplyRadeon HD3870x2 (soon to be replaced with an HD58** series)

Be Careful !
Comment:
While this MOBO is definatly stock full of great features there is a fundamental problem with it. If you intend to use it for triple SLI you cant use any of the double wide graphics cards. The bottom pci express slot is too close to the bottom of the motherboard and double wide cards will not fit in it regardless of what case you get. IT CANNOT BE DONE!! I went to Fry's and it would not fit in any case at all and there were over 30 different cases. I will be RMA'ing this MOBO today. I was trying to get 3 GTS 250 cards in it. I ended up going with a EVGA X58 MOBO and since the bottom pci express slot sits higher on the board it fit fine. Dont get this board if you intend to go with triple sli and double wide cards !
