D-Link DGL-4500 Xtreme N Gaming Router
Cons:
reconnect connection.
Pros: Wireless action. Comment:
There is all that is necessary for the installation in the box. The control panel LCD is not very useful. Interferences WI-FI causes breakdowns on the reception. The cost of purchase is too high in comparison with the increase in the promised performance. Ports GAGABITS function very well. |

D-Link DGL-4500 Xtreme N Gaming Router
Cons:
Wireless USB function DOES NOT WORK with windows 7 or MAC OSX 10.6Range is dissapointing.
Pros: works well for ethernet connections (using a wire) and for basic wireless access Comment:
If you go to the forums, you will see a plethora of complaints regarding the software (called shareport) that lets you connect to USB devices hosted by the DGL-4500. Just when you think you have it up and running, it crashes again. I have tried third party applications AND directly calling DLINK and working through the problem with their support team. I have tried all versions of the firmware and have tried connecting with both a MAC running OSX 10.6.5 and a windows 7 machine. I am giving up now after wasting a week of my life. |

D-Link DGL-4500 Xtreme N Gaming Router
Cons:
none
Pros: Solid connection and fast Comment:
Purchased to replace my D-Link 625. After set up I had 30% increased bandwidth and after 6 weeks I have not lost a signal. From the reviews I was expecting dropped signals and connection issues. Thankfully, on issues to date and I can surf even across the street at my neighbour's.Would buy again especially when on sale. |

D-Link DGL-4500 Xtreme N Gaming Router
Cons:
Include ethernet cable cat.5. but it should be cat.6. for gigabit internet. lcd screen turn off after 1 min. Should have more than 1 usb slot (like 1 for printer, and 1 for external hard drive).
Pros: Strong signal. Simultaneous 2.4 ghz/5 ghz. Gigabit router. usb slot. lcd screen. Comment:
This router is the best! I get 5/5 wireless signal. USB slot is nice for printer or external hard drive. Gigabit internet improve the connexion a lot. Five stars! |

D-Link DGL-4500 Xtreme N Gaming Router
Cons:
Doesn't do anything very well, and is very expensive.
Pros: Does what it is supposed to, I guess. Comment:
This is supposed to be a gaming router, yet it is quite poor for gaming. The wireless itself is fine, but several annoyances just make it a poor buy for the large price tag, and make it not great for gaming. For instance, forwarding a port so you can host a game for your friends requires a reboot, and a reboot takes almost half a minute. Also, it likes to randomly quit working every 24 hours or so, requiring a reboot to fix. Waiting for the reboot before trying to reconnect to the game you were playing can be very painful.I'm willing to bet that not everyone encounters these problems, but I do. I'm running the latest firmware and have spent lots of time troubleshooting and trying to see if anything is wrong on my end, and have had no success with a fix. |

D-Link DGL-4500 Xtreme N Gaming Router
Cons:
Random disconnects/resetting, requires power cycle to reconnect
Pros: Looks neat, dual band Comment:
D-Link, as you might have heard, is notorious for unstable connections and random resetting issues – this unit is no exception. I was tempted by its speed capabilities and usb network/print-sharing feature. Within 48hrs it had already dropped my connection and required a power cycle to reconnect. This continued every other day for two weeks, even with the latest firmware update. I returned this product before the 15-day return policy expired. Do your research on this product before purchasing, the random reset/disconnect forum thread rants all over the net are no myth! |

Well it was the bomb for a year
Comment:
Make sure you know what your planing to use this for, this router by all means can handle the the download power you can dish out,net flex HD while gaming online, what it can not handle is uploading bulk data even with QoS disabled, all it took was uploading 10gig's of work files in two weeks time and killed it now even with newest firmware got to reset every 24hours if upload a file if not only reset once a week and it improves it speed again. two years and ticking exp with his router nice fight but for 300 when it day cam out you expect more out of you dollar. |

Rock Solid
Comment:
Purchased Jan 10, haven't had to reboot it since the initial install. Wireless was quick and works great with it in the basement and the PC's on the 2nd floor. Had some mediacom issues and was able to look at the screen for diagnostics. Expensive versus the non-gaming version D-Link sells, but I have no complaints. |

this thing is great. easy to setup. the only down side is that i can't run it in the 5Ghz range cause the laptops i have don't support it. But it is still a great router for my wired gaming computer. |

Solid router, great for torrents & high traffic!
Comment:
I bought this, as in the past I've killed 3 routers with my usage of torrents, and high web use, in addition to xbox live. I've gone through 3 different routers all of which required periodic resets as a result of them locking up and freezing, especially while running torrents. After lots of research I decided to get the dgl-4500, though I'm solely using this for wired, I have had 0 problems running tons of torrents through it while simultaneously having other users on the web at the same time. I have not had to reset this unit at all! I seriously recommend this to anyone who needs a router that won't get swamped by high usage! I'm 100% happy with it! |

Performance and Quality never seem this good
Comment:
Well, I had owned many dlink products because of it's QoS option which prioritize packets, But since the DIR 655 didn't have the option to prioritize which packet should have higher payout. So with DGL 4500 Award winning Game fuel Which allow games to have better traffic less lag and other user on the internet have less packets. in this case you receive a better online gaming experience doesn't mean your computer experience will drag at all just gaming has it rights. |

Awesome Product

I bought a Netgear, and had nothing but problems. I returned the Netgear and purchased the D-Link-4500. Easy to set up, powerful signal for both G and N network computers. Has never dropped the internet, streams video and audio with ease. I have this router set up at the farthest end of my 3000 sq ft ranch home, and the signal reaches to the other extreme end of the house with 4 bars . . . best router I have ever owned - but I wish it was capable of broadcasting on both 2.4 and 5 ghz simultaneously. |

The Best Gaming Router Out There
Comment:
I purchased this router to replace a Linksys router that had problems handling multiple Xboxes. This router handles them perfectly and works right out of the box. I would highly recommend this router to someone who is having problems with Strict or Moderate NATs on their XBox. Game on! |

D-Link DGL-4500 Xtreme N Gaming Router
Cons:Alot tweaking to get Wireless-N speeds up. Headaches....
Pros:GBit is sooo fast! Best in class wi-fi. Comment:
Out of the box it was a solid stable wireless router.. Updated firmware to 1.21, bad idea.... Nothing but problems and internet freezes. Downgraded to 1.20, wouldn't let me go back to 1.15. After alot of research about wi-fi, decided to setup the router to only do wireless N, 5ghz, channel width auto(uses 40), WPA2, AES. These settings get me the best transfer rates. 8MBs up, 6MBs down on my laptop, its a far cry from advertised 300Mbs(35MBs+), but its still 4x faster than my old wireless-G. Gigabit from my Laptop to my Desktop is crazy fast! 80-100MBs, hitting the odd 120MBs, and yes I have a hardtime beleiving this too. I can transfer a 5GB file from one puter to the next in less than 1 minute, EASY! The proof is in the pudding... I've learned from my own experience, this thing doesnt really like mixed wifi, eg 2.4ghz B/G/N, 5ghz A/N etc. reset, reset, ughhh. But once I figured that one out, smooth sailing. But Gigabit is this routers strong point! |

NICE
Comment:
Very fast router. It's great how you can allocate bandwidth. The only thing I didn't like is the fact it won't work with other routers to create a single network. They got rid of that on the newer firmware update. Still trying to find a workaround. |

Something very wrong with Dlink
Comment:
I have been quite disappointed in Dlink product quality. This is my second Dlink router in the last 6 months, DGL-4500 and DIR 655. Initially, the performance was unbelievable. The range and signal stregnth are better than any other routers I've had before. As soon as I started using the advanced features (virtual servers, port forwarding, both of these products blew out like a balloon in a cactus field. I have two computers with land lines and 4 other wireless connections. After several days use, the router rebooted intermittently to the extent, it was impossible to access the settings through the web interface, so I had to reset to default settings on multiple occassions and still no luck after upgrading to the latest firmware. It's a shame since the feature set on both routers were exellent. I've given up on both. I'm taking this thing back and try something else. |

Good deal on a great product
Comment:
Setup was pretty straight forward with installation disk setup. A little more intimadating for newbies, but for amount of features it is faily easy setup. I found great throughput with slightly less signal at my farthest wireless device, that before would continually drop connection, after a month of use I have never had a dropped wireless connection on any of three laptops. And never a frozen connection or a need to power reboot anything, a BIG PLUS in my book. A significant difference in speed over the entire nettwork. So the price-- you pay for quallity in this case, it's worth it. |
This router has been on the market for a while, but I can't find a better replacement for it. Good response times. Rarely crashes or bugs. Good router for the price. Would recommend to anyone.
