Couldn't be simpler. Just plugged into my Windows 7 machine and it recognized the drive immediately.

It works with Windows XP Home, showed up as drive A. A dedicated XP driver would be a nice addition as it has Windows 98 drivers. When I unplugged the USB plug the Blue Screen of Death appeared since it has no dedicated XP driver. Restarted computer, no further problem. With it I was able to install software that was only available on a 3.5 inch floppy. Worked like a charm.

I needed to transfer files to my Win 95 machine and both my newer computers had no floppy. The Daiblotek external floppy makes it simple.

A couple of days ago I bought this D15-1078 floppy drive and was hoping that it would work on Win XP. WHen I got it the instruction explained what the Dirver disk is for (Which is not needed for Win 2000 and newer machins. I found that It works great on Win XP with out the drivers Windows found it ok. To me It is worth the $16.99 price. Note: I bought one that cost a whole lot more from another supplyer. There was nothing to tell me what operating system it was compatible with until I tryed installing the driverds from Disk. That when I found itr was only good for Win 98 or Me. I did get it to work on Vista machine, but nothing else.

Good value for the money if you have a few old A-drive floppies that need to be transfered onto a newer machine. Will work with Windows XP even though instructions are pre-XP. Sometimes will tell you a disk is not formatted when it is. Take it out and try another day after a few successful transfers. Sometimes will indicate floppy content is same as previously read floppy when it is not - very odd. Last 2 items can be frustrating. Unit has no manufacturer info or ID - who knows if it is the same as the one on the web site?

Arrived quickly. Installed in an XP system automaically without needing additional drivers. Read disks accurately. Fairly loud and some grinding noises. Somewhat slow in copying to hard drive.
