I installed this on an old DFI NF4 Ultra-D SLI modded board to replace the stock chipset fan that had been dying for a long long time. The installation was fairly straightforward, remove the board fromt he case, squeeze the plastic pins out through the hole, clean the chip, add some new thermal paste, then reinstall the new heatsink. One thing I did notice was that the pins didn't seem to line up that well with the holes on the DFI board, almost like they were a bit too wide. After getting one of the pins in the hole, you just had to slightly bend the other pin into the hole and it would go in with a little pressure. I can tell that the fit on the board is a lot tighter than the stock cooler was (you could take it and twist it rather easily, even lift it off the chip slightly while it was attached). I have the temperature range on the board set to 25 minimum (turn off) and full speed at 50. I haven't seen the chip set go above 39C and the fan tends to spin somewhere around 2000-2500 RPM's which keeps it completely quiet. The stock fan would always have the chip set closer to 50C so this is a big improvement. Also it fits under my graphics card just fine, though it does appear to be very slightly taller than the stock DFI cooler. What I didn't see coming was that this fan has a red and a blue LED on it. I would have reconsidered if I had known because I didn't want any LED's in this system, but for the price, I can survive (and they aren't overly bright).

EVERCOOL VC-RE Ball All In One Vga Cooler Kit
Cons:A bit loud.

Pros:Inexpensive, works fine
Comment:
After oiling the fan on my Radeon 9800 for the 10th time and having it growl again, I found this heatsink/fan to replace it. Installation was simple, and I just used the power connector on the motherboard for the fan. I could have cut the old connector off the old fan and soldered it on to this one, but this was even easier. After removing the old heatsink/fan, and adding a bit of the included thermal paste to the GPU, the heatsink snapped into place with no issue. The contact side of the heatsink is like a mirror. It has a bit of a high pitch whine that is noticeable, but I have heard much, much worse. I ran a few 3DMark benchmarks to heat up the GPU, and have had no problems. The fins on the heatsink are warm at best, where as my old heatsink could fry an egg.Expecially for the price, this seems like a great deal.I'll likely pick up another one on my next order to keep on hand. Cons:none

Pros:Great pricereplaced the stock cooler on my 9800 pro and i've noticed a significant performance increaseNote - blue/red LEDs are awesome
Comment:
I replaced the stock cooler on my video card because the fan burnt out. No problems so far, very quite and cools very well - on longer gaming sessions, i notice steady performance after a few hours in comparison to before because temps got to high

EVERCOOL VC-RE Ball All In One Vga Cooler Kit
Cons:- very loud at 12v

Pros:+ Quality feel to it -- very heavy actually+ PM'ed mine for only $8+ cools much better than stock fan+ 3pin fan means Speedfan can be used to adjust fan speed
Comment:
A great southbridge cooler for my DFI ultra-D. Temps are about 7*C cooler at stock and load. It is very loud at 12v so I run mine at around 8v using speedfan. I bought this to fit under my long 8800GT gfx card. Overall very happy w/ this purchase.

EVERCOOL VC-RE Ball All In One Vga Cooler Kit
Cons:I personally don't care for the red and blue leds. wish they would have stuck to one color at the very least

Pros:low profile, fan blades are at least 2mm below heatsink ring, quiet, multiple connection types for power.
Comment:
I used this on my NB chip and it fit perfectly, no fuss. I needed something that was very low profile as my old 6800gs video card extends past my NB chipset. there is no chance the fan blades will hit my video card again as the fan sits 2mm below the heatsink ring. by far, the best fan based cooler for an NB chipset for my motherboard. EVERCOOL VC-RE Ball All In One Vga Cooler Kit
Cons:None, that I can see

Pros:-Nice and quiet
Comment:
I bought this to replace the chipset fan on my A8N-E. Unfortunately, it was a bit of a struggle to install, as a few capacitors were in the way, so I had to modify the mounting bracket a bit to get everything in. That said, given that this is marketed as a VGA cooler, it's hard to dock it points for not installing easily on a project it wasn't intended for. Great little fan, I'm happy with it.

Cons:flimsy attach

Pros:nice heatsink
Comment:
The heatsink of this fan is pretty good, but the attach broke while I tried to install it. I still found a way to install it. You can tell that the fan wont last long (cheaply made).

EVERCOOL VC-RE Ball All In One Vga Cooler Kit
Cons:LED's ouch, red and blue. Push pins pretty darn far apart.

Pros:Fairly quiet (comperable to standard NB Fans)
Comment:
I had to struggle quite a bit to qet this to sit on my DFI LP board. Because of it's low profile, she's pretty much the only game, but I can't help but be a little frustrated at the install. Once one push pin is in, the second has to be angled like a son of a gun to get it in. When removing, the tension is quite tight and she'll snap back.

Pros:initially quietinexpensive
Comment:
I bought one of these to replace the grinding fan on my AIW Radeon 9600. I used a grain of Arctic Silver instead of the bundled paste, but that was personal preference. The clip and push-pins led to a very tight fit onto the core.I was happy with the VC-RE when I bought it. It was whisper quiet at 4300 rpm, but it drones now; it is the loudest fan in my computer.

EVERCOOL VC-RE Ball All In One Vga Cooler Kit
Cons:- WILL NOT WORK ON EVGA 680i A1 MOBO WITH LARGE VIDEO CARD

Pros:- lowered southbridge temps- easy install
Comment:
Got this as a cheap effective southbridge cooling solution for my EVGA 680i A1 motherboard. It installed very easily, and works great. However, I have about 0.1mm of clearence between it and the end of my Sapphire Radeon x1600 pro. I will need to replace it once I get a new video card which will most likely be within the next month. Until then it serves me fine.

EVERCOOL VC-RE Ball All In One Vga Cooler Kit
Cons:-not a durable product

Pros:-low price-ease of installation
Comment:
These are cheap and easy to install little units that do their job well while they are working at 100%. However, I have burned out three of these within a one year time frame. One died on the NB of a DFI NF4, another melted the plastic fan on an old Radeon 9700pro (at stock, and yes the case was well ventilated). The third was installed on a x700 pro and just became increasingly noisy.I still buy them and put them on stuff that I am selling on online auction sites. If your intended use is short term, these work well. If you want something that will last, move up the line a little.

EVERCOOL VC-RE Ball All In One Vga Cooler Kit
Cons:Fairly loud at 5000 RPM.

Pros:All copper; very quiet at 2200 RPM; apart from HR-05, this is the best choice for NVIDIA MCPs.
Comment:
Holy. Hell. That 680i MCP fan is by far one of the most annoying sounds I've ever heard, that and the SPP fan. I recently replaced my SPP with an HR-05 IFX, and that worked extremely well (thanks NCIX).I then turned my attention to the MCP (southbridge), where the default fan was still roaring. I could not put another HR-05 there, because it would get in the way of my cards (way too tall, as are most other heatsinks), so it would defeat the purpose of getting a SLI board.Enter VC-RE. This thing is the perfect choice for the MCP, as it is only slightly taller than the default fan, leaving a tiny bit of room between it and my 8800GTS KO, and interfering with any other slots/cards. Dropped the temps to about 43 degrees idle while remaining very quiet. If your MCP is running hot or loud, look no further. Salvation is here.

Bought this to replace the HSF on my A8N-SLi deluxe. I was worried it wasn't going to fit because I'm running two 7900 GT's in SLi. It fits perfectly. It was a bit tough getting it on but once it was, it was awesome.

Cons:No instructions included. Not a problem unless you have no idea what you are doing.

Pros:Quick and Easy installation, Large Heatsink that fits on many of the 9XXX series Radeon cards as well as older Geforce cards.
Comment:
Great little fan and it looks awesome when its spinning with the LEDs. My old Radeon 9600 stock fan died and i replaced it with this oneI no longer get artifacts when I play games on this PC. I can't see the temperatures of my video card but Im certain that this fan is keeping it much cooler then my stock fan was doing even when it was working.

Got it to replace my DFI NF4 Ultra's northbridge HSF. Works great. Has lowered temp approx 7deg C. I'd been looking for a better option for a while, as the NF4 Ultra D's upper PCI-E slot when loaded with a video card overhangs the northbridge, so only certain solutions will work.

EVERCOOL VC-RE Ball All In One Vga Cooler Kit
Cons:Fan doesn't last forever

Pros:Great alternative application as chipset heatsink replacement
Comment:
i've three of these in total on various motherboards. They're great, particularly if the motherboard can control the fan speed: it's not loud, but at 5K RPM it isn't silent by a long stretch. It provides better cooling than most stock northbridge chipsinks and those cheap fan powered chipsinks, and it's cheaper than the fancy ones, with a low profile that'll clear add-on cards. It's a one bearing fan though which will eventually make noise. The first one i had lasted a year and a half. Oil it and it's good to go some more. The heatsink used to have a shiny base; the latest ones have textured bases like those found on a lot of CPU heatsinks. The package lists the dimensions as 45x45x10mm. It's really:56x56x14mmwith a pin spacing of 56mm.Important to have the dimension and pin spacing if you want to know whether it'll fit your motherboard. Cons:None

Pros:Low cost, easy to install
Comment:
Replaced a broken loud, buzzing fan on an old ATI-based 9550 AGP card. I had no problems installing. It took longer to clean off the old thermal gunk on the chip than to put the evercool on. Seems to run decently quiet -- at least it can't be heard over the other components in my system.
