38W idle utilizing HW monitor to measure. My Phenom Tri core converted to quad pulls 50W. Can't seriously max this processor utilizing Photshop. Have to acquire other parts that would match this processors massive power. $$$ If you are not gaming or encoding, you'll be riding Al Gore's bandwagon even if you don't like the guy.Purchased this from a competitor at a more affordable price tag but have to pick it up in the shop. So, though there, I had to get me the CM 212. 34 to 38 C idle and 56 (no additional) utilizing CPU stability test for hours. Of course, temp varies with room temp.

Really rapidly with impressive multi-tasking capabilities. I upgraded from a Q9550 and did not anticipate this level of functionality. See other thoughts. Generates allot of heat when pushed so get a great CPU cooler. Although running Prime95 I was in a position to open standard applications like Photoshop, Nikon CaptureNX and MS Office applications within two-3 seconds. Taking into consideration that all four cores were currently running at 100% this was wonderful to me. I even loaded Prince of Persia TFS and once I got beyond the game loader it performed well. Don't attempt this with your typical Dual/Quad core.Intel i7-950Intel DX58SO2G.Skill Ripjaws 12 GB DDR3Corsair H70Intel 510 120GB SSD: OSWD 1TB Black: InformationAntec SG-850 PSAntec 1200

Its not an AMD chip, and its great for OC'ing. @ 趷.99 it hits the sweet spot amongst performance and cost. Dull stock Intel CUP heat-sink and fan. I have had a few that get loud right after a while and the temp it keeps the chip at is greater than I personally am comfortable with. Spend the added ฮ - โ and get a decent heat-sink and fan combo. Keep in mind kids..... don't OC on a stock cpu cooler.

As the assessment title states this issue is Smokin Rapidly.. I upgraded from a Quad core 2.4Ghz 6600 to this I7 and there is a dramatic difference.. None so far.. though with stock fan it runs about ten degrees warmer than the Q6600.. idling.. but that is almost certainly to be anticipated... nonetheless way within norms.

Easy to install, and runs anything I need. Appears to run a bit hot when Intel speed increase is enabled. (just add a lot more air) Don't skimp on a affordable motherboard when you buy this processor. Im a large fan of MSI so I went with the x58 pro E, 6 GB OCZ Ram and ƒ) 1GB cyclone gts 450 video cards in SLI.

I have not been able to max this CPU out at all, it merely blows my old P4 3.0Ghz Rig I built back in 04 out the water!Making use of Convert x to DVD4 to convert AVI's to DVD is no challenge for this I7, and at stock speeds it scores a 7.5 WEI.I can't comment on gaming efficiency yet as the location holder I call the Radeon 5450 is the weak link (waiting for the wifes okay on the 6950) Could be a little more affordable as the I7 960 is only 20 bucks a lot more My SpecsCPU: I7 950RAM: 9GB Ɠ x 1GB) and Ɠ x 2GB) G.AbilityMotherboard: Asus P6T D V2.Situation: Cooler Master HAF XEnergy provide: Antec 750WHDD: 2x 80GB WD sata 1 in RAID been spinnin given thatFEB 2004 LOL but soon to be replaced by an SSD,2x 1TB WD Black Edition for storage.GPU: HIS 5450 soon to be replaced by a 6950

Merely Great!!!!!! This is 1 CPU that can take anything you throw at it. I upgraded from a i7 920, did see a slight distinction is overall performance and benchmark testing. Very simple to overclock, had mine clocked to four.2GHZ with just a enhance in BLCK 200 *MULTIPLER 21, with no improve in voltage, left the hyperthreading on. Will run hot on you. If you use the stock cooler. I have mine on Swiftech h20-320 Edge cooling kit modified to run a EVGA Nvidia 470GTX inline, with that i get temps of 32c idle and 65C ON Load, ran prime95 on all 4 cores for a total of five hours 100% load on all cores for five hours and the max temp i got was 65C. So that tells you this is one particular hella CPU. IF YOU WANT TO OVERCL;OCK, THEN I Recommend QUIT PENNY PINCHING AND GET A WATERCOOLING SETUP, YOU WONT REGRET.

Upgraded from AMD 1090T and I need to say that this CPU is faster with 4 cores at stock speeds. Currently overclocked to 3.4GHz with x24. multiplier which is quite stable. Encoding video takes much less time as nicely as all other tasks. Newegg service is very fast--received this in much less than two days shipping from the warehouse. Would like to see a six core processor from Intel in this price range. This thing is a powerhouse. I chose this CPU due to the fact it seemed like the most price successful and it delivered. I can not find any software program that max's this thing out (aside from tension test stuff). Multitasking is a breeze. It's almost like this factor knows what I'm gonna do ahead of I even click, certainly zero hesitation when navigating via Windows and operating applications. I am certainly amazed at what this thing can do. Seems like it runs kinda hot even though several threads say these chipsets are built for it. 80C at full load with intel supplied cooler. Funny issue is Intel wont release its actual temp style tolerances. I'm not entirely comfortable with the temps so a liquid cooler may possibly be in my close to future :-) Coupled this with an Asus x58 sabertooth. Give a 64 bit OS some serious thought, there are several subtle but substantial differences amongst the 32bit and 64bit OS's. I'll not list them right here just search the internet.

Ordered Coolmaster V8. There reviews say 30-40c idle and 70C loade. I'm passing 90+C on stock fan effortlessly. Acquire a aftermarket CPU fan

Super rapid, high intel quality, all cores accounted for. Not crazy about the heatsink and fan that the box comes with. You have to put what appears like too significantly pressure to push the four retention clips via the motherboard. I don't consider I can go back to AMD cpus now...
