Windows 7
Comment:
A good router and very fast, but be forewarned: If you are running Win7, you will need to go to the Netgear site to get installation guidelines. You cannot use the disk they include.

MY FIRST WIRELESS ROUTER
Comment:
I have never had a wireless router before. I bought this because it was the cheapest I could find to try out. I was amazed at how easy it was to set up. It actually configured itself. I bought this to try going wireless with my VOIP phone and I was able to walk about 120 metres away before I lost the signal. I am impressed but the antenna is flimsy and looks as if it is going to break off at any minute. I recommend this highly.

The worst router I have ever had the displeasure to use. I went through 3 of these within a 6 or 7 month period. It made the high pitched sound that was described below. It eventually started conking out on a regular basis, losing connecting every 5 minutes, crashing the Vonage service, and bugging out the computers. Save yourself the money, and pay an extra 20 dollars for something quality like Linksys.

Awsome. Just unexplainable its performance is flawless. Its great for gamers, and working. Better than my dlink dir-615 wireless N router (go read my review) I never got connection dropped since I bought it. But if it does not send of a signal unplug it and then stick a ball point pen in the reset slot. Bit of a headache setup, no many cool features

I own a Zoom x6 ADSL wireless DSL modem/router. After moving into my current apartment (steel frame bldg), I figured out my router alone didn't have enough power for me to get good reception on my BlackBerry Cuve 8320. I bought the Netgear WGR614v9 and I use it now together with the other router via WDS and my reception has never been better. Connection is great even through 5 or 6 steel stud walls, roughly 100+ feet. Great product!

This thing is slow. It repeatedly stops doing anything, you have to unplg it to get it to work again, and it soon goes back to dialup speed, then nothing. For $40, I guess that's what I get. The Netgear USB Wireless adapter was worse, it flaps on and off, another waste of $40.

This is one of the worst routers, It has worked fine for me for about 2 months, and now it has a high pitch noise, and it will freeze with all the LED's on, except for the Checkmark. This unit is garbage. Do not buy this, unless you are looking for a disposable router.

Comment:
Bought this router last summer to use with my PC (wired Ethernet) and my work notebook computer (wireless). Easy to install though I had to learn a bit about WEP/WPA to get the wireless security going. I found that the wireless part would lock up every month or so and the router would need to be rebooted. My workaround: put the router on one of those digital appliance timers which will cut the power for a few hours in the middle of the night once a week. Works very well now.

I bought this router for myself for Christmas, 2007. I was on a budget but wanted to get the best I could for my money, so I did a lot of research. Pretty much everyone I talked to said ''go Linksys or don't bother.'' Well, I could not afford a Linksys, so I read many reviews and chose this one for $20 less. I am so glad I did for it has gone way beyond my expectations. I live in a 2 story house with a basement. I have two desktops, one laptop, and a Wii wirelessly running to it. The router is on the second floor and there is not a spot, even in the basement, where I can hide from good signal. I took my laptop outside and I can get good connection up to 200' from my house. Installation was not bad. Tech support was helpful in securing my network. Overall, I would highly recomend this product. I don't know what a Linksys will do that this one wont, but I'm very pleased with the performance of Netgear.

Had the unit for about 5 months when it started to freeze with all lights on except the checkmark and wireless LED's. Even ports 3 and 4 were lit up, when nothing was plugged into them. The unit was total unresponsive. Doing a power reset a couple of times would bring the unit back for a day or less. Upgrading to latest firmware didn't improve the situation. Cust Serv was decent but could fix the apparant h/w problem. They wanted to do an RMA, but I'd have to pay the shipping. Told them the've lost a customer and will probably go back to Linksys which at least lasted almost 2 years before it died. Avoid this unit, I've come across other forums with the same problem. Otherwise the unit performed well and was easy to setup, maybe you'll be luckier...

Reveived this as a free promo item from Dell when buying a laptop, so the price is right. Had to call their support twice to configure this as an access point, and when changing the IP address to differ from my DHCP router, the setup screen froze. Their support had to walk me through his bug or nuisance. Did not check if there was a firmaware upgrade. Otherwise this is an OK device.

I am very pleased with Netgear customer support. they are indeed wonderful. the router was installed witout any problem since the install wizard detects your ISP setting and leads you through the installation.the people who claimed had problem probably had problem with their ISP rather than the router since they could not configure, but the installation disc that comes with the router perfectly installs the router for you and within 10 minutes you are ready for your network. This router has a very good security features and also the range is great. i have not had any problem with the router and the customer service is great if you needed to ask a question.I highly recommend this product.

I expected better from Netgear than this router. I set this router up properly, however soon afterwards it would repeatedly...''freeze'' I guess you could say. It wouldn't lose connection to the Internet or any of the computers, but it would stop transmitting and receiving. I guess I got what I payed for. $40 isn't worth it. Not even $30, especially since a friend of mine happened to have this router as well, and his did the same thing. Go instead with the Linksys WRT54G or WRT54GS.

I have had the router for a few years and it has been great. I had a few problems during setup, but tech support was awesome and got me through it. After that, I have never lost signal or had any problems. I use all the wired ports and 2 wireless on my network and never had a problem.

Good router, but not great. Have had problems with it losing it's configuration, and have had to re-initialize it, sometimes at the most inopportune times. Since I use my connection to the internet for personal, but primarily for work, purposes, I will need to purchase a more dependable router. spend the extra money to get a better one if you depend on the internat as much as I do.

I don't know... Some people seem to have have good experiences with this router... I... Haven't. I've tried twice, on two different days to get this router to work and... ziltch. I got nothing. From the modem to the computer - fine. From the modem to the router to the computer - nothing. I don't quite get it, so... I really can't rate it. It seems easy to set-up... but, I'm not getting internet through it, either wired or wireless. So... I don't recommend... but, maybe this is just one bad case. GR

Set up was easy. The range has been very good. I have to work between two buildings about 80 feet apart and have had no problems. I noticed one individual said he had to keep reseting his twice a day. I have found no such problem. It may be some other problem with his system.
