Appealing, fairly uncomplicated to use capabilities in router menu. Wired connections working good. Wireless function needs energy cycle each and every 2-3 days to work. Thought Computer was challenge and spent days troubleshooting. Then, identified Netgear forum with dozens of other users that will need to energy cycle to get wireless functioning once more. I in no way utilised wireless that considerably, so wasn't a problem at very first. Now I will need the wireless and locate I am forced to buy a new router (yes, following hours of following troubleshooting actions updating FW, tough resetting, and so on.).

This wireless router has been a dream to install and work with. The Netgear supplied application was SuPER Easy to set up and configure. I had the technique up, operational, and safe in just a couple of hours. I had one more wireless router before from another corporation, but I am definitely sold on this a single. The Newegg cost was the finest in the marketplace. None at all. Just wish I had been able to order this item sooner. This will let our two computers to operate off the very same modem, devoid of added cabling operating by means of the apartment. The signal strength is superb, with no drop offs. After a lot more I'm pleased with Newegg's prices and service. They also shipped the router for totally free. Very good touch.

It does what it's suppose to do. I haven't noticed it losing signal strength at reasonable distances. It's extremely easy to setup. I don't have enough know-how of wireless networking to accurately scrutinize it for flaws.

I bought a refurbished WGR614 (v7) from Newegg about two years ago, to replace an older router (netgear MR814 b). It has worked fine from the beginning.Wireless has good variety in spite of the tiny antenna. I share online with my neighbor and even after going 3-four walls and 30+ feet away there are still two-three bars in her computer system.Wired aspect performs fine; I hooked up a printer server (HP) to turn an old laser printer into a network printer and it operates flawlessly.Configuration is not hard. It supports WPA2 OK, it is only a G router but for the cash I'm not complaining. It drops wireless signal eventually but often it appears to like dropping world wide web connection. I would blame it on the lousy telephone lines in the home's basement (and I imply it) It is a basic, no-frills wireless router - you can not replace antenna nor load third celebration firmware. It is almost as a kitchen appliance: plug, set up, and go.I nonetheless have the old router; I plugged it yesterday and it worked ideal.

It runs well and consistently. The consumer service hot-line is outstanding. I named at an odd hour and the lady I was connected to was extremely helpful, diagnosing the dilemma and aiding me in setting up my network. If she hadn't been so useful I most likely would have rated this two or much less since of how frustrating the installation was before speaking to her. The installation software program was totally useless. I am not being hyperbolic right here, there was no way for me to install the computer software offered. Save oneself time and frustration by throwing the installation disk at your neighbor ninja style. Even if you accidentally kill his cat (as I am sure you haven't been adequately educated) and he calls the cops on you, it will be less of a hassle than attempting to install the stupid software program.

No problems with this guy. Bought it to replace a piece of junk Netgear WNR2000 which reset itself each and every handful of hours. I get about 1 mb/sec real life transfer speed over the G wireless to my bedroom 2 rooms ƒ walls) away). In other words, a 60-meg file takes about 60 seconds to transfer. Incredibly handful of manual resets (maybe 3-4 times more than 2+ years). No gigabit, but I can dream that my next router that does have it will execute as effectively as this one (very doubtful). I use this to stream DVD ISOs from my home server more than my wireless network to other htpcs/appliances in the rest of my property. 1 meg/sec is sufficient for that, but it won't be enough for Blu-Ray ISOs which need minimum five meg/sec genuine life transfer speed. The 100baset ethernet would be rapid sufficient, but I'm one hundred% wireless. Anywho, I'd get this once more & recommend it to others - haven't have any nightmares with it in two+ years.

I have been utilizing/reselling this router for a few years now and have not had 1 go down. The interface tends to make it uncomplicated to find settings and even chain them collectively. Speed is now beneath industry typical, but still a lot more than what the average property user will need to have. I sure hope they have a lot of these in stock but. :)

Simple setup, and cost was Very very good for what this router is capable of performing It's white. Sticks out like a sore thumb amongst all my black hardware To all you reviewers out there who say "G Router" and "slow speeds"... I was performing research, and the same chip that runs this router also runs the Netgear 150N routers. So...UPDATE THE BIOS FROM NETGEAR.COM!I was amazed! Really using the Advise BIOS FROM THE MANUFACTURER ( ver 1..2.26) turns this 'G' router into a 150N. Right after I updated the bios, the speed option (Up to 150 Mbps) showed up in Wireless Settings. It was also a BREEZE to setup as a wireless bridge (or access point) as extended as you set the SSID as the same as the principal router, and know the principal routers Wireless MAC address.I'm running it now as an 'N' bridge at 150M to my other router virtually 150' away, and it's in a metal clad building. Gotta love this affordable 'N' router!

Wired works fine. But then again it did on my wired router that I had prior to I bought this. Just about every handful of days the wireless stops operating. It continues to broadcast the name and almost everything but it will generally fail to connect. Apparently the router logs targeted traffic, which can not be turned off. It fills the memory up with logs and causes the wireless to not perform. Waste of time and funds. Want I knew what to buy that wouldn't have concerns.

extremely straightforward to set up. great feature set, low price, you can access the admin web page even prior to the WAN connection is valid, that's really handy. I've had a number of these and they all seem to have a limited lifetime. I'm acquiring that I have to replace them soon after a handful of years even though I take precautions to retain them cool. provided the price tag, I'm satisfied with a two to 3 year lifetime

It routes. Got mine. Utilised the wireless as soon as. I turned the radio Off, and utilized [wired] ethernet ports for two computers. Worked fine that way for a couple of years. Then, webpages began to take a long time to load. I wasn't delighted, but I didn't know what was incorrect. Then, it stopped operating, and I ultimately had something I could troubleshoot. The router stopped accepting an IP address from the cable program. Or maybe the router stopped requesting an IP address. Whatever, one particular day, its IP address was ..., and there was no renewing it.I'm back to a single-computer set-up, with no a router. The Surfboard modem remains the exact same, and almost everything is fine. What? No hardware-firewall?I'm connected 24ǝ with Windoze Firewall, anti-virus, anti-spyware, and myNetWatchman. No issue.

This router has an superb setup page with advanced functions for controlling total bandwidth. Its variety is considerably better than the Cisco router I replaced it with. So far I have not had to reset it even as soon as and it handles the load effectively. I have two wired clients and 7 wireless clients on this network! Nicely worth the funds and its leds on the front change color to make you aware of its status!!! It can also function as a repeater! Wish it was black to match the rest of my stuff but no huge deal. It would be good if the antenna were removable.

Installed on windows 7 no problems. Just setup and programming. While i study all the evaluations prior to acquiring this one( i was searching for finest price tag, and capability) and a handful of ppl had troubles with reception and dropped hyperlinks, i get max 54, exceptional reception, and my children and wife stream television and play games all day. Now, the other computer is only a single room away from the router, most likely 50 ft tops. Hasnt dropped yet, im very pleased, properly worth the money. None so far, mabey just theres a lot of lights on it, extremely bright at evening, in a dark area, lol. Game on.

Straightforward to set up.Nice style (overall). The firmware, though dated, is simple adequate to navigate.Somewhat inexpensive. Changing a setting outcomes in the router going into a restart/lala phase, which can take upwards of 20-30 seconds. No support for DDWRT.I have to reboot the router at least twice a week due to connection drops. The router could perform wonderful for one day, and then the subsequent day it decides to not work.Poor reception. In my split level property, the desktop pcs downstairs receive incredibly poor signal. When I moved 1 of the desktops a handful of feet away from the router upstairs, it nonetheless had poor signal. Pathetic. As of lately, I've had a lot of, upon numerous, disconnects - and this is from a desktop that is connected with a cable. I do not believe that the trigger is from a specific system, as I've had difficulty with several various applications - mostly on the internet games. I have no difficulties with lots of internet browsing or with downloading from Steam, for example. I believe the router simply times out/overloads, and then it restarts. Following employing this router for more than a year, I have had rather a rocky road with it. I dislike it overall, mainly because it signifies a lot more work for me. I like merchandise that I can set up, and not have to consistently fiddle with them. I wouldn't suggest purchasing this router in particular.

I have a a single-bedroom apartment (about 800 sq. ft) and I'm getting a clear signal everywhere. Worked out of the box with very small setup expected. I'm also a major fan of the off-switch (nice to have an simple way to conserve power). The CD it comes with is not terribly helpful. Setting this up initially will demand a little bit of know-how. But not a lot, so don't let that put you off. Great Value!
